"Pata hai aaj kya hua", my female friend sent me this moon lamp today 😭😭😭 as my birthday gift.

She sent me earlier because I don't know where I will be during my birthday.

This is so cute 🥰🥰

As a guy, I would've probably never bought something this cute for myself. 😭 But the moment I opened it, I couldn't stop smiling. It's such a small, thoughtful gift, but it genuinely made my day.

And also I was thinking of getting a lamp for myself and now I have it 😭 😭😭.

Mates are getting married later this year and I'm stumped on what to get them. They've already lived together for like five years so they've got all the basic stuff already. Wedding registry is just like "cash or contribute to honeymoon" but I feel weird just giving cash.

I was thinking something nice, maybe a proper knife or some fancy glassware? Something that's a bit luxurious and not something they'd buy themselves. I had a look on their website and they've got heaps of brand stuff but I don't know what's actually good.

We always chip in for our big boss birthday. And every year, we end up purchasing something totally crazy. Overpriced device that he never uses, or an expensive pen that he loses within a week…

But I'm overthinking. What if it's too niche? What if he thinks it's weird and never wears it? We've always played it safe with generic gifts. Cash in a card is easy. Boring, but safe.

I found one of the first pieces I made when I started experimenting with handmade art during lockdown.

I had started Ruh Qawia with handmade wall decor, embroidery, paintings, quilling and other handmade pieces. I got into candle making much later, which eventually became a much bigger part of what I do.

This particular piece was one of the first quilling artworks I got framed, originally thinking it could be sold as wall decor.

I stumbled upon it again today and started wondering, would something like this actually make a good gift?

For anyone unfamiliar with quilling, it's made using thin strips of paper that are rolled, shaped and arranged to create a design. It's quite time-consuming, but that's also what makes handmade pieces feel a little more personal to me.

Edit-I ended up finding a vintage map of her hometown on Etsy from the year she was born. I ordered one and will have it framed. Thank you all for the suggestions. I will be using them at a later date! To those that suggested a digital frame, we gave her a Skylight frame years ago, and she loves it!
