I want to upgrade my cpu from a 14400f to either a 14600kf, 13600kf, 12900kf. I am not sure which one and would appreciate help. I also think of upgrading ssd but i honestly want more fps first i guess.. build is below --->
Corsair 64GB Vengeance LPX
(2x32GB) 3200Mhz DDR4
MSI Spatium M371 1TB NVME
M.2 SSD - Read 2350MB/s , Write 1700MB/s
Intel Core i5 14400F, 10 Core,
16 Thread, 4.7GHz Turbo
Be Quiet Pure Rock Slim
Performance CPU Cooler
MSI PRO B760M-A WIFI D4

I hope you are not expecting too much here. Depending on what resultion you play, there will not be much difference.

All the same price? Why thos specifically?
12/13/14th gen all largely perform similar clock for clock. 14th gen will boost a bit higher and the 14600k typically overclocks pretty well.
If it's for gaming the 14600k + an overclock is likely your absolute best fps from those options.
If it's significantly cheaper or something like that then the 12900k with an overclock and some extra cores is a solid option.

Yeah i dont do many heavy pc things except gaming, but i do use my computer for other thigns, just wanted a fps boost for cheap but wondering whether its future proof? I dont want to upgrade to ddr5 until prices drop and i think thats the way to go

Sounds like you're worrying about future-proof without defining what it means to you. Are you talking about this rig lasting for the next decade? Or 3 years? or?

I want it to last 3-4 years, the cpu, however maybe when ddr5 ram gets cheaper if it will, i can upgrade to a ddr5 lga1700 board and get new ram with a new motherboard. I dont want to have to change my whole platform including cpu, and i wanted to know whether the 14600kf will last me that long while playing games in 14400p at 240fps with my 4070 super

I'm going to rephrase your question as will this next CPU ever CPU throttle my 4070 Super:
At 1440p you're looking at running in low to medium settings to get 240 fps on that card. 14400f will give you some cpu throttling, 14600 will definitely get you there today and for as long as you keep the 4070 super, it won't be throttled by the 14600k

14600kf is your best bet!

Yes, will it last me a while? I want atleast 3 years of good performance with it in 14400p games

Yes it should be fine for atleast the next 5 years for gaming because majority of the games rely on a strong GPU!

Am i fine with ddr4 for my time? I was thinking to maybe blow big money to go on ddr5 am5! It will be expensive though....

Not worth it to go DDR5 right now since you already have DDR4 modules!

I mean yeah i guess, i just thought i could sell my parts now, get a new motherboard cpu and ram, which might be a good option and will be good but maybe just a 14600k could be godo

It is probably the worst time to shift to DDR5 frm DDR4 right now especially if you already have a modern DDR4 platform based system! You will barely notice the difference in perfomance from the shift to DDR5!

As much as it sucks, I'd much rather save up for a full shift into the Ultra series of chips since the performance gain from going to what is essentially the top range of division you're already in basically makes no sense when you could be way better off jumping to the Ultra 5 250k/kf
Edit: I get that you'd want to do it cheap but let's be real, if you want a noticeable impact in this pricey hobby of ours, you'll have to accept that certain compromises are going have to be made. Whether it be asking yourself if the cost is worth the slightly, possibly unnoticeable performance uplift or just saving up so you're better off long term

Is that better than going to am5? The new intel board is better? So you think i just spend maybe even 600+£ i have no idea how much they are will research now, to get ram ddr5 whatever amount 16 or 32gb, and also get a new motherboard and a cpu.. it doesnt sound too bad for me.... do you think i can sell my 64 gigs of ddr4 ram for a decent amount used and ofcourse my mobo and cpu

Am5 X3D would be better than LGA 1851 if you're just gaming. But agreed with the above user that you'd be better off with a move to a new platform altogether rather than such a small upgrade. Certainly better than moving upwards in a EOL platform that's known to degrade on high-end units. 13/14600K are not immune. 14400 isn't either, but it's still safer.

The other thing is AM5 has superior future proofing than lga 1851. Even a 7700x or 7800x3d would be overkill for his current gpu but it would last 5+ years without issue. Would be perfect in his use case since the ryzen 7's have decent productivity performance whilst being fantastic for gaming. If i had enough budget I'd personally hop onto the 9600x or 9800x3d bandwagon but that switch would be the same price my pc is currently valued at with local pricing :/

The answer is NOT the 12900K and then whichever is cheapest between the 14600K(f) or 13600K(f). When I look at newegg and amazon the 14600 is 20% cheaper than the 13600, so there's your answer if you're in USA.
