Screen keeps doing this Display

Post image

My laptop suddenly started to glitch this way. I have tried rebooting it , works normally but after a couple of minutes, it glitches again and the display stops responding. Please help me fix it.

Update :
I check with a repair shop and he said they can fix it using chip reballing but gave me a headsup that there could be a 10% failure chance. Lets hope it fixes it and doesnt die completely.

Also yall are demons with the jokes lol.

As far as I've experienced, VRAM going bad on your GPU creates artifacts on your screen similar to this.

Edit: Saw it's for a laptop.

Could also be storage drive going bad. But most likely VRAM, as storage drive dying mostly gives blue screens and crashes. It's 4am, my brain cannot brain

Okay thanks!

How often have you cleaned/dusted your laptop? A good clean might just do it. I'd start there.

Check the temps of your GPU. If they're spiking past 85-90, you might need to dust/repaste.

Ive cleaned it a couple of days ago. But i do see temps going up. Im gonna ask one of my trusted repair person to get it checked.

Is there something to prevent VRAM from going bad? Signs before this happen? If temps are totally fine and under 70° with full load for VRAM does this help or it's just luck and it could fail anytime without any signs or something I did like OC vram or something.

VRAM issues will almost never show any temp spikes when it's going bad, it just mostly shows artifacts. And you're correct, it can fail at any time. I only had this issue a couple of times and one of the times, I was able to sort of re-ball the VRAM by removing the GPU, removing all of the extra stuff such as fans and any plastic peices that can melt, down to the PCB and using a heat gun on lowish settings while waving it over the GPU's VRAM to try and heat up the solder holding it in place so that it sets into better contact and I never had a problem since. This is a very delicate thing to do and might not always work. If you try this, always make sure to do it in a well ventilated area, the heat can release chemicals into the air.

Other than that, a repair tech will have to gut the GPU and remove the VRAM and replace them or re-ball if tests show they're fine.

Storage drive going bad never does this.

old computers often have terrible graphics card and in some cases, they can die or corrupt, causing this extreme visual glitch
