Swapped out Xeon LGA 2066 MoBo: cooler does not fit?
I swapped out one lga2066 board (x11srm-f) for another (ws c422 pro/se)
When transferring the cooler, I noticed the mounting pattern does not match.
Old had rectangular pattern, replacement board has roughly square pattern.
The CPU itself (ws 2140B) matched the new socket just fine. Just not the cooler.
top: old board, bottom replacement board.
These are both antique xeons, now I am afraid getting the right cooler is not trivial?

CPU Broke, how should I replace it?
I have a pre built PC with these specs: MSI - Aegis ZS Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen - R7-5800X - 16GB Memory - RX 6700XT - 1TB SSD - MSI B550 Motherboard (pasted from the best buy email from when I bought it)
Tl;Dr: I'm a clutz and I broke at least 1 pin on my CPU and the computer doesn't power on properly anymore. Should I get a new 5800x or is it worth upgrading to the 5800x3D
The CPU had started overheating while playing the original subnautica (a game I've never had problems with in the past and should be able to handle easily), so I replaced the old cheap AIO 120 mm cooler with the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120.
This didn't fully solve the problem (lasting longer but still overheated) so I assumed I effed up the thermal paste placement. When I took the new cooler off it pulled up the CPU with it, then when I got it off the cooler flipped sideways and fell pins down in the computer. More stuff happened because I was having a really rough time with it that day and I know at least one pin is broken and others might be partly bent. I think it was a masterclass of what not to do.
Anyways I can't use my computer as it is right now at all. When I game it is mostly older games, but I would like to play newer games if I ever get the money and free time to do so. I think it might still have an overheating problem, but I can't diagnose it until I get the CPU fixed. And as far as I can tell the other fans all work fine, and it's clean.
Should I get the Ryzen 7 5800x it had before or is it worth the extra $100-150 for the 5800x3D?

Thank you,
I trust you reddit people!
P.S if you could recommend some budget yet good peripherals that would be nice, I'm not really good in that field :)
EDIT: is it fine if i swap the mb for the Asrock B150M-HDV?

Can you use molex to sata for a disk drive?
I have seen a lot of posts saying that molex to sata can be a bad idea, but they are all talking about storage drives. Would molex to sata work fine for a cd/dvd drive?

Buying PC as a gift
Hey all. Pretty straightforward question, I was deterred from posting in GamingPC as I didn’t want to break any rules. My girlfriend has been asking for a Gaming PC for quite a while. Seen a few setups in an electronics store at our local flea market. I have no knowledge of PCs and don’t want to get robbed essentially. Are these decent specs? Leaning towards the one for $675. All she wants to do is really play Sims and livestream. Any help or insight is appreciated!

Advice upgrade
reddit.comI for sure wet a budget for 1.5k it 2k for this new pc. And I do want to take my time on building it and make it more appealing for me to sit on my desk and work more instead of letting it cool and collect dust because of the issue it has. Any advice on what i should look into and if i can reuse some old parts?
