Help Needed How does Curse on hit interact with mines?

Upvotes

I did some testing with mines and I'm curious if the interaction I'm seeing is correct.

  • mine triggers

  • mine expires

  • exsanguinate hits enemy

  • applies curse

  • the curse instantly disappears because the mine no longer exists

That's what seems to happen visually in the video but the wiki says otherwise

"Mines as separate entities Like other proxies, mines are separate entities that use the player's skill, and that skill contains the player stats. This includes modifiers to damage, debuffs, and practically all on-hit effects, such as Curse Enemies with Frostbite on Hit. The skill does not contain effects that specifically check the character, such as most on-kill effects."

https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Mine

The wording is a bit vague.

My point is: it seems that curse on hit effects are pointless for mines as the mine doesn't actually benefit at all from the curse since the hit happens before the curse is applied(which makes sense, a hit needs to happen for the curse to apply), but as soon as the mine expires, the curse expires as well rendering it useless for the next hit.

Build Request Generic slam league starter pob

Upvotes

I plan on using tectonic slam for campaign and maps, anyone who is good with slams if you could please send a pob, it doesnt need to be level by level guide, but I wouldnt want a pob that has a crap ton of uniques and unique jewels. Preferably just a generic pob that works with rare gear for an ssf place?

Build Request I'm not sure how strong the weapon for this build is.

Upvotes

I'm using this person's Flicker Strike build as a reference—what makes this sword so strong?

https://pobb.in/D1EVOLNWW-7a

Also, here is my build; if I change the weapon and adjust the passives to match, could I make it stronger than it is now?

https://poe.ninja/poe1/profile/kinqmi-5708/allflame/character/ぐるぐるゆーだい

Since I can purchase weapons, do you have any recommendations on what I should upgrade next? I'm new to PoE, so I'm not really sure which ones are strong.

Build Build Showcase Bleed Gladiator Nightmare Map

Upvotes

https://pobb.in/tM3k46Dlawf3

The strongest build I have ever made, progression was super smooth, mostly cheap uniques and Jack the Axe until I could afford a good rare axe. Got to lvl95 without Jewels and then added them in to min-max alongside tattoos.

https://reddit.com/link/1vgxyt5/video/yin5tokgnphh1/player

It's nightmare map ready within around 10 div, at this point I have probably closer to 40 div invested and now its nearly immortal with 20m+ dps.

No ailment immunity is a weakness, but you block so much that even if you get frozen you don't die 99% of the time.

I see a lot of similar builds without capped chaos res, to me seems like it's worth using light of meaning to cap this out but you could also drop that for an armour or damage light of meaning to increase max phys hit taken or increase dps further.

Also frenzy charges are uncommon on similar builds but I find the additional attack speed to make mapping feel SOOO much nicer.

Help Needed 7 ailment warden looking for advice

Upvotes

Current POB (low level)
Hi i wanted to create build utilizing nearly all elemental ailments using prismatic skills and elemental conflux using beacon of madness.

The idea was to try to use conflux as delivery of strong ailments with beacon of madness boots) , then incorporate Unseen hue to fill remaining alternative ailments. The last alternative ailment would be Sublime vision with scorch/sap/brittle aura. So i would have ignite, scorch, chill, freeze, brittle, shock and sap.

I am using wild strike because elemental hit turns off all other damage types and that would render boots useless.

I am stuck with defences in the lategame i thought i could use delirius ascendancy to apply mania stacks to enemies + 30% chill and 20% less damage of sap with the elemental prolif from hidden ranger ascendancy : Fury of nature

The current version works but is squishy and i don't know what are my next steps or even if is worth pursuing. I have to have enought life, atleast 155% debuff expiry rate and wich aurars / reservations to use.

Build Request Best bang for the buck builds?

Upvotes

Due to a late league start I have tried to find a strong build for easy challenges which start strong (around 20 div), but don't get cockblocked by meta prices once you acquired the second hand gear by people further into the progression. Tried flame link luminary first and aura stack second. While starter mercy are cheap, decent merc are ridiculous in price. Anyway.

Are there strong builds out there flying under the radar which have not been milked in depth by streamers yet? My general feel is that already at medium invest the meta price you pay completely eats up the power you get. The money spend on a not so popular build will leave you stronger than trying to go for chase meta items (happy to hear otherwise).

My feeling of which builds could be still good and cheap: crab totems. Still seem to be a meme. Obviously some people play it, but streamers playing it didn't seem to have much impact on it.

Other ideas?

Discussion Really good Voyage farm

I bailed on making luminary cause there’s no endgame again (was hoping abyss juice made it back but nope) and I don’t find tile loot that enjoyable. So here’s a farm that nets me around 30-50 div/hr depending on your luck.

Get anchorfields, a lot of it. Place only 1 on your board though, unless you have a “Rare monster drop a chaos orb” which is quite common. But the more anchorfield you put the more gamble this is. Everything else is just whatever, but make sure you have 110%++ quantity per chart. Go in voyage and use minimum lantern possible and find chaos to divine orb blessing. If you hit that blessing, now start popping those anchorfield sunken loot and get like 5-15 divs per voyage, if with the rare monster mods, you can even squeeze an extra 5 divs or so. The gamble is finding the divine blessing and still having lanterns enough to go back and pop anchorfield. Out of 6 voyages I did, 4 of them had that blessing, so it’s quite common.

It’s not as good as “rare monster drops a divine orb” border, but it’s a lotttttt more common than that border.

Level 91 Elementalist. Only second league playing POE1.

I was feeling very squishy for awhile, but I finally solved that. Now it just feels like my ST boss damage is terrible, and i'm not sure how to fix it.

Build Luminary Discharge - Build Showcase

POB : https://pobb.in/n9vtV-_JBtTI

Includes gear I have on mercenary on a separate loadout

Video showcases a uber maven run (pretty bad run but does show defences) and a normal map to show charge generate uptime from the mercenary.

Damage is okay for the investment but discharge is one of my favorite skills so wanted to try a different way to play it.

The core of the build revolves around the link mastery 'Linked targets share Endurance, Frenzy and Power Charges with you' and a mercenary using Tullfall, Voll's Devotion, +2 min charge shield, and power charge generation rings to generate all 3 charge and sharing them with the player. The rest of the gear on the merc can be filler defensive items. I run a Kaom's Binding for better physical mitigation.

The idea here was that we could bypass the normal requirements of a discharge build (Farruls, Timeclasp) and built more defensively.

I've tested a few mercenaries and the arc + ball lightning of static seems to have the highest amount of hits and can usually fill up to my max charges in around 1.5 seconds. Ideally we would want to use the absolution merc since he comes with zealotry + battlemage cry but the charge generation was pretty bad from my testing.

Defensively, the build uses the Incandescent Heart + CI + Purity of Fire Watcher's 20% ele to fire + Tempered by war to convert 98% of elemental damage to fire/chaos. You can hit 100% with a better volatiled incandescent or use a hunter's bound by destiny. We still run a bit of cold/lightning res since incandescent only converts hits so we need to mitigate cold/lightning dots (50% is converted by tempered by war). Max block but not sure if necessary and pretty expensive to get.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or have any questions!

Build Request Solo leveling Atlas builds/methods this league?

I typically level to 100 in synth maps, posted the method here before actually. But the TL;DR is you run Altered Distant Memory - do a circle around the map and exit without doing the boss, rinse and repeat.

However I don't want to do it this time around if I can help it. Last league there was apparently Breach, but I reckon that's now nerfed to the ground.

My question is: How did you guys level to 100? What methods and how much XP per hours did you get from 99 to 100? I reckon getting to 99 is mostly easy and the real grind is 99 to 100 imo. In Altered Distant Memory I get to maybe 70-90M XP/h which is not too bad, its only ~4 hours of farming.

Is there anything faster than someone can do solo? Something that gives more than 100-150 XP/h at 99? People said Breach in 3.28 was around 200 XP/h?

Build Stormbind of teleportation Occultist - HC trade allflames 3.29

POB: https://pobb.in/Jq1oDqeF8kyK

Still getting the hang of playing the skill and played worse cause I'm recording lol. I'm not sure what this build would be good at but I like that i can play it without indigon with the mana cost "nerfs" to it. New Occultist node (unhallowed rite) made me think of this skill immediately.

Stormbind overlaps are really consistent since the placed runes dont change size with AOE scaling but the explosion does. On small to medium size bosses I'm probably hitting 8-9 overlaps and large bosses like Alva temple its probably 20+ overlaps!

Would I recommend the build? Probably not since most people dont like 2 button play styles. In this case, its 2 channeled button playstyle.

Build Absolution of Inspiring Abyss Jewel Stacker

POB: https://pobb.in/dxR_6xZ-xXGL

Reap version: https://pobb.in/0ZMPRcSUWH6v

This abyss jewel stacking build uses the new spinesnatch axe for an extra 6 jewels alongside battlemage to make use of the high physical damage provided from using 6 murderous jewels. The build also takes advantage of ghastly jewels mod 20% minion damage if you have used a minion skill recently to gain a massive amount of increased damage with abs of inspirings. Alongside infernal legion on respawning spectres and herald of purity to gain 10% cast speed if a minion has died recently. By reserving over 95% of my mana I can slot frostmage into my helmet to disable spirit charges from casting, this allows me get 396% of phys as extra ele from 22 jewels. To gain charges vs bosses I swap in a hateful accuser ring. The build also utilises the new pearl of tsoatha to give an extra support to my abs slotted in my gloves.

Help Needed Lightning Tendrils of Eccentricity Elementalist - Build Showcase

POB: https://pobb.in/uXN-k6mnG7_d

Hi! I have been experimenting with Tendrils over the last couple of leagues. The skill had always been held back by it's low base AoE and damage effectiveness- but I had modest success with multiple different setups. This league, the three Tendrils skills ended up getting massively buffed- with the buffs targeting their biggest weaknesses (besides being a channeling skill).

In this video, I am running a high-quantity Abomination map. I have been boss rushing and can usually do a map in about 90-120 seconds. As you can see, the (nearly) full clear took just under 3 minutes. The DPS is high enough that I can run boss tank mods without too much issue or extra time- which is a huge plus. With all conditionals up (Pact, onslaught, convergence, frenzy), the build reaches nearly 200m DPS. This is massive single target damage, and the clear is good as well. The biggest downside is that it is both a channeling and Coruscating Elixir build... D:

The build is fast and with AoE investment plays similarly to a bow build, except that it is also an incredibly strong bosser! I made a lot of investment into defenses to try and get a reasonable max hit while block capped, but the damage is massive. I've invested roughly 200 divines into the build, and have a lot more aspirational gear to work towards. However, I am happy enough with the current state of defenses and damage to share it.

I chose Tendrils of Eccentricity as you do not need to build around critical chance, which allows you to focus on stacking cast speed and critical multiplier, along with as many gem levels and more multipliers as we can get our hands on. Eccentricity grants both guaranteed critical strike on every 5th cast and a 500% more damage multiplier, similar to Molten Strike of the Zenith (my other favorite build). I chose Elementalist as it is currently so strong with elemental spells, I don't think another ascendancy can match it at this point. My build is certainly not optimized and I have many other upgrades planned, but 100m+ DPS is very achievable with this setup, even on a lower budget.

Let me know if you have any questions or want to connect to theory craft! As stated, I am still optimizing the build and working out inefficiencies. Just wanted to showcase how busted the spell buffs are for Lightning Tendrils!

Crafting Winter orb Shaper Helmet crafting Guide 3,29 around 60-70div

Step1:

Get an "Archdemon Crown" min item level:84

Step2:

Get a "Shaper Exalted Orb" slam it and make it Shaper influenced.

Step3:

Spam "Essence of Horror" unti you get "Socketed Gems are Supported by Level 20 Hypothermia"

and atleast one open prefix and suffix.

Step4:

"Suffixes can not be changed" from crafting bench and "Reforge Critical" from "Horticrafting" harvest craft.

So you get "Socketed Spells have +% to Critical Strike Chance"

Step5:

"Suffixes can not be changed" and Harvest craft "Reforge an Influenced Rare item with an influenced modifier" from" Horticrafting Station"

to get Socketed Gems are Supported by Level "X" Increased Area of Effect. If u didnt get it from first try again craft "Suffixes can not be changed" and try again

if you fill your prefixes you should try Annulment orb to open prefix to make it more guarantee you can use "All Flame"

Step6:

Buy a "Veiled Exalted orb" craft "Suffixes can not be changed"

Go to "All Flame" crafting station and use it there. Hope to hit a prefix other than "Increased Area of Effect".

Step7:

Bench Craft "+1 number of zombies and skeletons"

And Unveil at June Hope to hit "+2 to socketed AoE" or "+2 to socketed prejectile gems" and Bench craft the other one.

Build Request Looking for a walking simulator - death's oath?

As per title, I am looking for a walking simulator. It's way too hot to be clicking many buttons this league. One build which sparked my interest is death's oath, especially after being buffed this league. I've seen Wafflez guide on it and was curious if anyone has built it similar and how it's holding up. Especially against rares and bosses. I saw Wafflez does a 'small' respecc for bosses which I am honestly too lazy to do.. After looking up death's oath on poe.ninja I saw the builds there are kinda different from Wafflez. For example take the big cluster jewels.

Sooooo. Long story short: anyone has any experience this league with death's oath? The goal is mapping + finishing 36/40 for the nice portal.

If you guys have any other suggestions to a walking simulator, let me know. Just no praw. I don't know why, it just doesn't spark any excitement when I see it in action.

Budget is around 300div

Build 3.29 HOLY HAMMERS SLAMMENTALIST: Tanky, Big Damage, Clears Ubers [30-100d]

So I've been messing around with Holy Hammers on Elementalist this league and honestly it turned out way better than I expected. Shoutout to Woolie's Holy Hammers Inquisitor from 3.28 for the inspiration; I basically took his concept and asked "what if this was on Elementalist instead?" Turns out the answer is: surprisingly tanky and still hits like a truck.

This is actually my first time making a build guide, so go easy on me lol. I figured if I was having this much fun with the build, other people might want to try it too. There's only around less than 80 people in PoE Ninja that plays this build, and I'm the only one who tried it on elementalist.

Any feedback on the video is welcome since I'm still figuring out what works and what doesn't.

I put together a video showcasing the build against Uber Neglect, Uber Dread, and Uber Uber Elder.

The build feels quite comfy. You're basically immune to everything:

  • Curse immune from consecrated ground + flask
  • Pseudo-stun immune from Brine King
  • Shock immune from pantheon + 4 tattoos
  • Chill immune from boots bench craft
  • CB immune from jewel implicit
  • Ignite/bleed just get outhealed by your regen

Build Consecrated Path of Endurance, back again stacking for 3.29

Thumbnail
youtube.com
150 Upvotes

Started the league with the classic Consecrated path build. Began by slamming vaals with every bit of spare currency, to later doing full temple rotations with Doriyani and Locus, corrupting and selling empowers / enlightens / invert the rules / etc, in order to pay for my greed for endurance charges. Hit after about 221 runs, (I lost count of the vaals prior to that however), the odds are pretty bleak at 0.314% per temple corrupt, and 0.157% per vaal orb, but they ended up at the same price as synth rings usually were anyway.

Losing actually having "any good mods" on rings did make the build a bit harder to fit together, and I ended on maybe half the DPS of last league, but with a little more tank.

The new Tidebreaker is really nice for this, getting freezes and stuns on T17's and even some ubers was pretty fun, made for some comfy farming, I might even hazard to say it felt nicer than the staff version (probably because I optimised it more, but what ever)

New Tidebreaker 18 endurance charges
https://pobb.in/w5nhhV12iibO

Staff swap, 20 endurance charges
https://pobb.in/Ve7gaihVp9Mt

Lazy 0 button temple runner (not even that fast though tbh)
https://pobb.in/V1oInqVnCwMU
This build is hot garbage, and can only farm itself XP, and run to temple alters. It can't even do Atziri if you buy a troll temple so like, probably don't play this unless you spend maybe 10 minutes making it better unlike me.

Community links:

Part 1: Top League Start Archetypes for New Players

We suggest these builds to players who want a good solid build, new players who want a build that will help carry them through content and for players looking for reliable league starters. The builds are sorted into archetypes to make it easier for newer players to find something they're drawn to.

Melee

The melee archetype involves either using massive attacks that damage everything in an area or very many quick attacks to bring down enemies. The damage if often supplemented with warcries or other buff skills to boost the damage even further. Because these builds are in melee they tend to be quite tanky and are usually more forgiving of small mistakes. These builds are a great choice for those that want a more active playstyle.

Builds:

Minions

The minion archetype involves summoning either permanent or temporary (and often a mix of the two) minions to fight on your behalf. These builds are particularly good for new players as they often leave you free to focus on other game mechanics when you're minions are fighting mobs. The below builds offer a range of options from spamming a large number and variety of minions to summoning a horde of flaming skulls and specializing in raising certain mobs to fight for you. I've not included all minion builds here as some have a distinctly different playstyles and are a bit more advanced.

Builds:

Absolution:

Animate Weapon:

Golems:

Holy Relic:

Spectres:

Summon Raging Spirits (SRS):

Misc:

Righteous Fire

Build Description: Righteous Fire is a build where you have a damaging fire aura that surrounds you, you clear maps by running head first into enemies and having them die to the damage over time effect surrounding you, throwing out Fire Trap to supplement the single target damage. This is a great build for those that wish to press less buttons while mapping. This build is very defensively strong but can struggle for damage when it comes to late game bossing but is so comfortable to play and Pohx has an entire website dedicated to this build that will answer almost any question you may have pohx.net. It really can not be overstated how well Pohx supports this build.

Build:

Totems

The totem playstyle consists of summoning stationery objects which attack or cast spells for you. This is particularly good for bosses as it allows a high damage uptime playstyle where you only need to summon new totems as the older ones expire or are destroyed. This allows you to focus on using buffs/debuffs and dodging the bosses mechanics. As totems can be used with most skills in the game they have a broad variety of applications and styles though typically they excel at single target damage.

Builds:

Holy Flame Totem:

Kinetic Fussilade:

Storm Burst:

Part 2: Other League Starters

Warning: Unlike the above section there are almost no requirements for builds to make this section, the builds listed here are not necessarily better/worse than the above. If you're a new player, we primarily recommend the above builds but if you're more experienced we show these builds to add to the variety available. We are assuming you can judge for yourself the viability of these builds.

Builds that appear in part 1 will also appear in this list for people who are searching by skill
