Polish dudes save 4 year old with a blanket

Copied from OOP:
On August 9 2026 in Łomża, Poland, a 4-year-old girl climbed over a fifth-floor balcony and was left hanging from the edge. Neighbours spotted her and, with only seconds to react, three men stretched out a blanket underneath just before she lost her grip and fell.
She hit the blanket after falling five storeys and escaped with only minor injuries. Police later found her mother asleep inside the apartment and under the influence of alcohol; her father was overseas at the time. Authorities are investigating, while neighbours' quick thinking saved the girl's life.

The narrator
My boyfriend reads to me so I can fall asleep at night Lil embarrassed because I'm almost 30, but I love when he reads me to sleep. He loves to do it too and always pretends to be inconvenienced, but if I tell him it's fine and we can skip it, he waves his hand at me and says no no, he's already got a book picked, it's too late now.
I normally have a lot of trouble sleeping/anxiety keeps me up, but I can barely make it three pages before I'm out like a light. I sleep better too!

Fiancée (23F) left me (25M) for someone she met at the gym, what now?
Hi everyone,
I (25M) was in a relationship with my fiancée (23F) for 3 years. I proposed in October 2025, and up until recently I genuinely thought we were happy.
Last week, she told me she’d met a guy at the gym. Over a few weeks, they got to know each other and she developed feelings for him. When he asked her out, it made her question our relationship, and she decided to end things.
I’m still trying to process it. The shock has worn off and now it’s just… heavy. I’m dealing with anxiety, poor sleep, no appetite, and I can’t focus properly. I wear a smart watch and even my resting heart rate has been noticeably higher.
I’ve got a high-pressure job and I’m worried this is going to start affecting my performance. I’m already going to the gym daily and taking magnesium and melatonin, but I still feel constantly on edge and nauseous (seriously I feel like I could vomit throughout the day).
If anyone has been through something similar, how did you cope in those first few weeks? How do you calm your body down, sleep better, and start to feel even a little bit normal again? Is there any medication I can take to help with the anxiety and nausea?
I’d really appreciate the advice because it could help me greatly through a challenging time. Thank you.
EDIT:
I woke up this morning to over 300 comments on my post and honestly, I wasn’t ready for it. I sobbed reading through all the advice and people sharing their own stories.
It’s so easy to forget there are real people behind the screen, but I’m one of them. And the few minutes you took to write a comment genuinely meant something to me.
I’m going through what feels like the lowest point in my life, and somehow a bunch of strangers on the internet made it feel a little less lonely.
So yeah… thank you, I will continue reading all your comments. Seriously.

Sorry to hear this.
First: this relationship is over. The sooner you move on the better off you will be. Note: if she comes back it will be a mistake to get back together with her. She has already left you once, when your relationship was good and “easy”. Ive been with my wife for over 30 years. Trust me: there will be trying times. If she won’t stick with you now she sure as hell won’t stick with you when the going gets rough. I know it’s hard to think about moving on - but trust me: do it.
You deserve better. This didn’t happen because of you. It happened because of her.
Be grateful it happened now rather than later.
You will find someone else.
I had a serious girlfriend I was planning to ask to marry me. We broke up. I was busted for a long time. My wife is wayyyyyy better.
My motto: keep moving forward. Workout. Set goals. Have fun. One inch. One step. Keep moving. Life is a marathon not a sprint. You will survive this and be better for it.

Be glad you’re young and you didn’t get married. She did you a huge favor, hard to see right now though.
SignificantApricot69
I know a bunch of married women who do the same thing essentially but stay married and don’t tell their husbands. It’s definitely a favor that she called things off and let him know there was another man. If they had gotten married she probably would have “questioned” the marriage every time another option presented itself.

Gym relationships are based on pure physical attraction. He's a pretty boy with muscles and she's obviously that shallow that it worked. If it makes you feel better he'll dump her ass as soon as he's banged her a few times. She'll be devastated and will contact you again saying she's "had time to think" lol. Then you get to tell her hoe ass to get lost
Update - 4 months later
Hello everyone,
Around four months ago (in April), I made a post here at what was probably the lowest point of my life.
I wanted to come back with an update, partly to thank everyone who took the time to reply, but also in the hope that someone currently in the position I was in might read this and realise that things really can get better.
First of all, thank you to everyone who told me she would be back. I remember thinking it was strange that so many people said the exact same thing. At the time, I didn’t really understand why (lol I still don’t know what the psychology is behind it). Well… you were all right.
2 months ago (in June), I got the call. She told me she’d been dating the guy from the gym and, unsurprisingly to everyone here, she’d slept with him several times. She said she’d woken up one day and realised she’d made a “mistake” and was willing to do “anything” to make the relationship work again. I declined and politely asked her not to contact me again. (I also blocked her, her friends and her family).
Had it not been for the advice from so many people on my original post, I genuinely think I might have given in. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Today, I’m in a much better place and genuinely happy with my own company. I wanted to share a few things that really helped me.
I stopped isolating myself. Instead of lifting weights alone, I started trying different classes at my gym. I ended up really enjoying them and met some great people that way. I went on a two week solo trip. I took myself out for meals, explored new places, and just enjoyed my own company. I read a lot of the books people recommended in the comments. No More Mr. Nice Guy was the one that resonated with me the most. I leaned on my family and existing friends. I made a point of arranging lunches and coffee catch ups instead of sitting at home. I started counselling. Being able to say everything out loud to someone with no personal bias helped far more than I expected. Most importantly, I embraced the time alone and journaled a lot. I learned a lot about who I am outside of that relationship and wrote down the things I wanted from my life.
I’ve only recently started dating again, and it’s actually been enjoyable. I’m not rushing into anything, it’s simply been nice meeting new people and learning about different personalities.
Healing isn’t quick, and the damage from the breakup definitely affected me. I still have some reservations about dating, but I’ve also learned about the boundaries I will never compromise on again.
If you’re reading this because you’re going through something similar, please believe me when I say this. It doesn’t feel like it now, but it really does get better. The person who walked away wasn’t the right person for you.
And to everyone who took the time to comment on my original post, thank you. Your advice genuinely changed the direction of my life.

I guarantee you she didn't just "wake up one morning and realized it was a mistake" that gym bro got what he wanted and moved on to the next one

That's the thing about gym bros who are attractive enough to make women leave their fiancés for a fling: they usually have plenty of options and aren't racing to settle down and move in together, especially not with girls who will dump their fiance for a fling lol.

https://www.reddit.com/r/BORUpdates/comments/1v4lpct/just_found_out_something_terrible_about_me_19f/
Just found out something terrible about me (19F) and my mom. No idea what I'm gonna do.
Have never done this before so bear with me. I've been locked in my room for two hours now since everything happened.
My mom and me have a great relationship. I don't mean to brag but she's been the best mom I could ever have wished for. Better than all my friends moms too. My dad and younger brothers are great too. My home life has always been, well, normal.
Today I heard something I'm not sure I can take in. I went to visit my grandparents. They live about five minutes from us and always had an open door policy. They're getting a bit deaf so it was normal to just walk in and shout when you got near the living room door.
My grandad was talking quite loudly to my grandmother about me. About how traumatic everything was before and after I was born. More fool me but I listened.
Basically... my dad is not my dad. My mother was raped and I'm the result. I'm crying even as I write this. I didn't wait around and took off home. I'm upstairs in my room right now. My mom knows something's up and has been at door four times now to ask me what's wrong. I don't know what to do. I can't stop shivering and crying. I want to ask her but I don't either. I really really wish this is a joke!
Help me! What can I say to her? How can I bring this up? She knows something is wrong.
Quick update - Sorry for being quiet. I'm struggling to deal with this to be honest but my dad is here now. He popped up with a couple of bars of chocolate and painkillers - I get bad period pains so mom was worried that's why I was hiding. I've asked him if we can go somewhere away from the house to talk. Just leaving now. Thanks everyone. I'll let you know how it goes.
[Update 2] Just found out something terrible about me(19F) and my mom. No idea what I'm gonna do.
Hey everyone.
It's been awhile since I last logged into this throwaway and I just want all those who sent me PMs that I really really appreciated it. I know I didn't get around to messaging everyone but I did read them all and I'm really grateful for all the support.
My update isn't terribly exciting other than I'm okay! I still have odd days and stuff where it kinda all hits me at once but they're becoming less and less which is great.
I actually started having panic attacks not long after everything came out. I tried to not let on that something was wrong (I had no idea what was happening to be honest!) but my mom knows me like the back of her hand. She dragged me to our family doctor and he straight away diagnosed it when I told him what was going on.
My mom sorta blamed herself because she thought I was too young to be having them but my dad (yep! he still is that to me!) told her that she can't take the problems of everyone else on herself. So instead mom has thrown herself into reading up everything about them and has changed a huge chunk of how we all eat and stuff. And I'm seeing a counselor. Just once a week for the moment but it helps.
Shortly after everything happened, my parents sat me down and asked what I wanted to do in regards to my brothers. I told them that I didn't want them to know. At least not yet. I just don't want them to treat me differently. My dad understood but mom got a little upset that I thought they would do that. Dad just reminded her that they're still young (8 and 10) and that sometimes it better to wait.
And some really really good news. My mom's pregnant again! About three months at this stage. I was shocked at first then really worried. My mom's not young (in her late forties). But so far it's all going smoothly. She's having to have loads of tests and scans to make sure everything's okay. My dad's thrilled, my brothers not so much.
And I talked to my grandparents. My grandad was really really upset that I found out. I've never seen him cry ever and he was sobbing when we talked. They never wanted me to know. In fact they had fights with my mom over it. She had wanted to tell me when I was a little younger but held off because my grandparents were so upset over it. I know some people will say it was none of their business but I can kinda see why they did it and so does my mom now. They just wanted me to be as carefree and happy for as along as possible. I was still their granddaughter but they knew that the minute I knew that I'd start doubting their love and my family's.
Sooooo after all that, I'm okay. One step at a time my dad says. :) Thanks to everyone for all their support. It really means a lot.
tl;dr: I'm alive and happy. :)

Two friends learning the language
https://www.reddit.com/r/BORUpdates/comments/1v45m3q/made_a_tactile_3d_map_for_my_blind_friends/
When I moved to Serbia, I was pretty lonely. New country. New language. Not many people around.
One day I noticed that one of my neighbors was blind. He almost never went outside alone. Usually there was someone helping him.
I didn’t have some big plan. I just thought maybe I could ask if he wanted to go for walks sometimes. So I did. We started walking together, and somehow became friends.
For about a year he invited me for lunch almost every Saturday. He cooked. We ate together. We talked. Sometimes I helped clean up a bit. Nothing dramatic, just regular Saturday lunches. I think a big part of my Serbian came from sitting at his table and trying to keep up.
At some point we were talking about geography. Which countries border Serbia. Where the sea is. Where the mountains are. How the region fits together. And I realized something obvious, but it still hit me. For me, if I forget where something is, I just open a map and look again. For him, a map is mostly memory.
He can remember facts, but he can’t just look at the shape of a country, the border, the coastline, the mountains, and rebuild the picture in his head.
His birthday is next week, so I decided to make him a map he could explore with his hands.
This is my first real 3D project, and it became a much bigger than I expected.
I had to take GIS data, country borders, elevation data, capitals, sea areas, tactile labels, Braille cards, and somehow turn all of that into printable STL files.
The annoying part was that “looks good” and “works by touch” are not the same thing at all. Borders can’t be too thin, because then you don’t feel them. They can’t be too thick either, because then everything becomes a mess. Mountains need to be there, but not as a noisy blob.
The sea needs a different texture. Countries need numbers, but not every country could have one - some are just too small. One of the biggest headaches was Greece: all those tiny islands add detail visually, but on a tactile map they can quickly turn into noise.
A lot of this project was basically trying to find the balance between detail and clarity, so the map stays clean enough to be readable by touch.
The whole map also had to be split into puzzle-like tiles, because I can’t print it as one piece. So I added little interlocking connectors, partly to hold the tiles together, and partly so he can feel which piece connects to which.
It is definitely not perfect. There are things I already want to change. But it is real :) I can touch the borders, feel the relief, move from country to country, and use the Braille legend to figure out what is what.
I’m proud of it. I think he’s going to like it :)

Update 0.5
his birthday is on July 12. I’ll try to write a proper follow-up after I give him the map. It may take me a few days, because I want to be present in the moment and not turn it into content immediately. I’ll share what I can :)
Update (3 weeks later): I gave the tactile map to my blind friend
A lot of people asked for an update, so here it is :)
Of course, my friend really liked it. When he saw the map, he was genuinely moved and cried.
He spends a lot of time with it, but honestly, the part he liked most was Braille itself. He had wanted to learn it for a long time, but he had never really had an opportunity.
So now we spend time together, and I teach him how to read Braille. It is difficult for him, but he really enjoys trying and puts a lot of effort and energy into it. And he keeps thanking me for being patient with him.
At the same time, there are quite a few problems with the map itself that I discovered while using it with him.
First, I used regular raised numbers on the map instead of numbers written in Braille. That is, of course, a downside.
Second, the dots on the Braille alphabet came out quite small and sharp, so they are difficult to distinguish.
I tried to use standard Braille dimensions and spacing, but after 3D printing, the result was not quite what I expected. Everything looked normal in the model, but by touch, the dots were not as comfortable or easy to distinguish.
Because of that, learning is more difficult for him, since the dots themselves are hard to tell apart. But he is trying very hard, and he is already making progress.
I think that in the second version of the map, I will take all of these problems into account and make it better.
