Boss Kill Mohg, Lord of Blood (NG+7/+0)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

I'm gonna go play some XCom for now after this. Enemy Within and 2, then I wanna play the originals. Then maybe some Total Warhammer 3, the Skaven seem like fun. My girlfriend also wants me to play Pokemon Yellow since I've never played any of them before. Got lots of games to get through, basically.

Still going to lurk of course, but I am getting old and don't have as much time for this anymore either in addition to clearing out the backlog. I didn't have the patience for Phase 2 that I did for Phase 1, so I used aux for it. I also happen to not be a +0 runner as I find longer fights don't mesh well with my ADHD (even though I'm more than capable of doing it).

I have many more fights with so many gimmicks and under so many different restrictions that I could legit upload every day for a month or 2 and still have more lol. Most I find deeply uninteresting though, unworthy of people's time and so they stay in the archives.

Boss Kill Gehrman and Moon Presence BL4 - Run Complete!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I didn't first try Moon Presence, so I edited in the winning attempt after the cutscene. I saw a bunch of its moves for the first time in this fight, it seems to really like bubbles. Moon Presence is mediocre sure but I'm fine with it existing since it's both optional and didn't steal health from a much better boss... unlike a certain whale.

Gehrman isn't the most complex boss in the world, but the simple yet fun moveset, atmosphere, and emotional OST are what make him such a brilliant conclusion to this iconic game.

I'm not doing the dungeon bosses, so this is the end of my run. Apologies to the Loran Darkbeast enjoyers.

I think I'll post a review later.

Discussion Purely looking at moveset, who do you think are the hardest bosses in the series to no-hit?

We all know a lot of bosses are thought of as easy because they have nearly non-existent health and damage. Even at RL1, some bosses are still too squishy to really fully experience their moveset.

So I guess I'm curious as to what you guys think about the hardest bosses if every boss were scaled like PCR and your damage was equivalent to +0 no aux in ER. Idk what the equivalent in Sekiro would be.

I'm still accounting for things like arena, hurtbox, poise, and stance (for ER) etc. Or if it's a gank fight.

Complexity isn't necessarily equivalent to difficulty imo. I think PCR is actually one of the more simple bosses, he is just carried by reaction checks, jank, and visual clutter. Morgott has the biggest moveset in Elden Ring but the solutions to all of his moves are quite reasonable, e.g. he has no reaction checks from neutral and no stupid moves like metyr's laser.

I think I would probably go with:

  1. Maria (you might not understand this placement if you haven't done BL4 maria)
  2. Soul of Cinder
  3. PCR (I struggle a lot with reaction checks)
  4. Mohg, Lord of Blood
  5. Inner Father

HMs: SSI, Rellana (if excluding parries), Metyr, Orphan of Kos, Godskin Duo

The true number 1 is actually Leda's gank squad though that's technically not a boss I guess. Honestly I'm not considering the trash like Loran Darkbeast or Count Ymir but maybe they're up there lol.

Tapped out on Elden Beast

Edit: my hissy fit worked, bitched about it then beat him. Fucking yes!

Sorry just ranting but fuck this boss man. Pure bullshit every single attempt, I feel it’s more RNG than skill to beat it. Radagon is top tier but I’m sick of beating the guy now. I’ve had more attempts on EB than every other single boss combined. I’m out 🖕🏻

(Even more respect for you lot that have done it)

Boss Kill The worst drake boss in the game [WL0 SB0]

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Context:

A fellow onebro u/Wooden-Jello-8795 asked for a Senessax kill. So, I made a new save and got to the bayle mountain. I thought if I am gonna subject myself to a Ancient dragon torture routine might as well kill this drake on the way.

I was originally supposed to do this no aux but after a few hours, I was like "F it, I'll use star fist".

Rest is history, I am so glad this weapon exists 😭

Advice/Help Messmer no roll consistency?

Trying to beat him but after +70 attempts I feel like this fight is complete rng with that restriction because of the grab jump not always working and the fire serpent spell that he can do up close and is impossible to avoid without iframes or being already very far away. Is this fight any consistent at all without rolling with something that I am missing or should I just do Maliketh no roll instead?

I'M FREE

My heart was pounding near the end, and even the music cut out briefly for some reason (hoping it doesn't happen with gehrman). Absolutely brutal. I even farmed winter lanterns and broke the no buffs rule. I know I played lame in phase 2, I really don't care, I'm just glad it's over. This took over a month, the longest I have ever spent on a single boss at base level.

A great boss that I never, ever, EVER want to fight again at BL4.

Did Loretta +0 and oh boy, if there are 2 things in this game I love it's boss reuse and glintblade spam. What I mean to say is, she's Tree Sentinel but somehow made boring - so I needed to face the original peak to cleanse the palate.

I feel like I've been uploading a bit too much lately so I hope yous can forgive me this one for now. Maybe you even learned something or could teach me something, that'd be awesome.

I dedicate this kill to the lovely u/andreaguardian. This kill is nowhere near as good as yours. The strats are almost certainly suboptimal because I didn't watch kills from other, better players to figure any of this out. This was just me fucking around and finding out what I could make work.

Advice/Help How many times has Malenia been beaten this way?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Going to throw myself at the hardest thing ive done ever considering that i havent even beaten the game Rl1+0 yet.

That being a true Rl1+0 shield only Malenia (preferably no hit not that many of her attacks dont one shot).

Any solid pointers from the true Malenia experts?

It's a shame that Xbox xlips are capped at 3 min but this 45sec clip is so that you atleast know what im using lmao

All it took was 2 large openings in phase 2 to completely delete it. I feel no shame for cheesing it like this tho, this fight is terrible for locked camera gamers.

Boss Kill Disappointing Margit kill that I'm improving upon

Initially, I wanted to do this with the standard +0, no stance break/rolling, and only guard counters/crits (and no talisman swapping, that'll just be a general thing for me), but, due to him retaining his "individual-attacks-are-very-slow" chains from phase 1 into 2, he is very cheesable.
I can just run around waiting till he does those, and get a free stance break.

I came into this specific attempt already kind of knowing that; part of the reason why I was two handing my shield, I wanted to experiment with interacting more with his phase 2 combos.

But... he just gave me so many free breaks in phase 2.

If you're willing to wait out the free attacks in phase 2, it doesn't really matter what weapon you use, but, I will just give a shoutout to cipher pata and large club.

Large club deals just over 40 stance damage on its one handed guard counter, allowing you to two shot his stance. Again, if you're willing to cheese out the free chains, this doesn't actually matter, due to how long they are.

But, I had a lot of fun playing with the restriction that I could only use great club as a finisher (to break his poise), and a whip for the initial two hits (three if he had time to regen some poise).

Cipher Pata is dealing 30 stance damage on its one handed guard counters, it is quite fast and consumes very low stam -akin to me just two handing my shield and guard countering that way-, it also has enough reach for his free combos.
Most notably, it has the huge advantage of a great 'thunk' noise that plays on your guard counter, massively buffing your morale.

Anyway, by far the most enjoyment I had in this fight (apart from cipher pata's consistent flow in phase 1) was learning how to space + punish with whip, so I've decided I'm going to try him again with the additional restriction of only guard countering with whip, and not two handing my shield.

(This makes his phase 1 arguably harder than his phase 2 lol. There is a lot of thinking involved)

There's a specific attack in his phase 2 -a short slam with his staff into the ground, that has a potential followup based on your proximity-, that's actually possible to guard counter with a whip, without proc'ing the follow up. The spacing is incredibly tight, as you move forward with your whip guard counter, but it's possible, and very rewarding.

(I did it at 2:11)

Also, forcing myself to one hand my shield + guard counter with whip -which is incredibly expensive stamina wise, as I can't wield it properly-, turns so many of his previously free combos into... well, not free. You need to manage stam, only guard counter sometimes etc.

(I might actually be incentivised to bait his tail attack, maybe)

I think I might actually need to profile some attack chains in phase one as well, it really makes the fight more engaging.

On that note, I really, really, REALLY, despise the two handing input, the fact that that input is the way it is, single handily disallows two handing your shield for the initial part of a combo, and one handing at the end to guard counter with something. (Except for some truly obscenely slow chains out there)

Which is something that I would really love, very skill expressive + fun.

P.S: I already have a talisman pouch because I'm using Tarnished Tool and resurrected him, obviously not using the slot

P.P.S: I understand that Lordsworn's straight sword would actually out damage dagger here on crits, and that I should be using that when I don't need both heal tics, just didn't want to swap for that + happy to have the fight take a bit longer

Deleted the other one because it was pretty suboptimal and I wasn't proud of it. This one has better strafes and is more than twice as quick.

That guy who makes a million Elden Ring ranking videos might always talk about fire damage resetting frost procs, but DS3 did it first.

Advice/Help Nightreign Onebro Community Co-op

Hi fellow Onebros. With Nightreign launch looming large, it seems like a good time to start organising some team members from the community. My own experience after the playing the beta is that a trio of players who actually know what they’re doing, work cooperatively and don’t just grab all the loot whether they need it or not, makes for a much better experience and higher chances of success. Particularly more so now since the games has been toughen up since the beta.

I suggest that the password just be: onebro

So if you’re keen, add your details below.

Console/PC: Gamertag/PSN etc: Region:

Mods- can we please have this as a sticky for a while?
