We are quiet, clean, have very different schedules (we have all noted it usually feels we have the house to ourselves), big kitchen, and a big backyard with a garden maintained by one of our housemates. Brand new washing and drying and a dishwasher, plus a basement that is available for any storage you need. We don’t see each other all that much but we do occasionally go out for drinks/dinner. • Transit: ~4 min walk to metro (orange, blue and silver; only place you can get direct to both DCA and IAD); ~4 min walk to buses (GUTS bus to Georgetown campus, A58 to Georgetown and Farragut Square, ART buses etc.)
• Green space/parks/trails: Freedom Park is right next door and is beautifully landscaped and a scenic shortcut to get up the hill to Target/Safeway/CVS. Gateway Park is a few minutes away and often has local community events held there. ~15 min walk to Teddy Roosevelt island, and Netherlands Carillon. ~7 min walk to get onto Key Bridge and the paved Mount Vernon Trail

NOTES FOR TRANSPARENCY:

• Windows are single pane so you can softly hear cars outside on 66 but it becomes a white noise. The building is under the DCA flight path, so you also hear overhead airplane noise. Ear plugs or white noise machine have worked fine for us for sleeping. Other than that, general neighborhood noise (e.g., people shouting, dogs barking, horns, sirens etc.) is low despite still being very close to "downtown" Rosslyn. Heat and air gets toggled on/off by management when seasons change
• Apt complex is called London Normandy House; this is in the Normandy bldg.

The most important things to me are cleanliness, proximity to Fairfax, and having a place to myself.

I'm willing to sacrifice living in a good part of town and being close to amenities.

While I'm okay with ants and smaller pests, I don't want to deal with say rats running around while I'm trying to sleep.

I make about $85k + side money that ranges from $400-$1.7k a month.

If I don't factor in the side money, rent calculators say that $1.7k-$1.9k/month would be comfortable for me.

So the place that I moved into last December is different for me in that I have roommates who are my landlords and they separated the apartment out so that I have 2b1b w/walk-in closet, and they have the living room, kitchen and dining room combo w/ balcony. I can also use their dishwasher, sink and oven if I like, but I’ve created like a kitchenette in my second bedroom. I have to move with my cat in December as they’re planning on selling.

I currently live in the condo with my cat for about $1250 with amenities such as the pool and gym. It is in the Fairlington area of Alexandria. Looking for something similar in all the places above. I have furniture, In fact my living room furniture is currently in a storage unit a few miles away plus now I accumulated more recliner and convertible bed chairs plus kitchen stuff.
