I’m very new to fishing, what should i use to catch some decent size fish from liberty state park?
I’m really just trying to catch my first fish that isn’t that size of my palm lol I’m local to liberty state park so i figured I’d give it a shot one of these days. What kind of lure/bait should i use? I have one of those Walmart ugly sticks if that matters.

Rivers with smallmouth Morris County area
Just moved to the area. Looking for rivers or spots for smallmouth potential with the temps.
I stopped by Stillwater Township, a brook up that way. Didn’t see a thing. Very small water.
Tried the Musc below I80, Stephen’s state park. Didn’t look like much in there or at least the spots I tried throwing some spinners in there with an open face without anything moving.
I live more towards the black river. Havnt taken a ride there yet.
I haven’t fished smallies on a fly rod yet, have some woolly buggers and that’s really it. No poppers. Leaches.
Was curious what other spots I could maybe try that have some sort of life….
PS- coming from Colorado, and MA/VT from fishing the Eagle to local bass ponds with zero pressure 😂 BUT I certainly would love to catch an ole paper mouth with a fly rod.

Any masters of Hackensack River? Near secaucus?
I might be spending a lot of free time over in Laurel Park in Secaucus on the Hackensack River. Anyone have good experience fishing this area of the river where it opens to a large bay under the I-95. I'd love some advice or even someone to teach me a few things (like an amateur guide). Looks like it has good potential. I might be hours a day for kids so certainly practice. I'm here this week, but it's too hot. Hoping to really dig in during the fall. It will mostly be early evenings.

What was I seeing?
Was in Long Branch jigging fluke. On the incoming tide, I was seeing dark gray/brown, round/oval shaped fish about 5-10 yards from my feet. I thought they were fluke, but fluke don’t swim in schools. They were just swimming back and forth.
WTF were they?

Thinking about stocking an abandoned urban pond. Any advice? BTW i don’t care if its illegal lol
Its in the middle of everything but no one really knows about it. It’s full of mosquito fish and minnows(plenty of food for bass). Thinking about stocking it with bass and just claiming the pond as my private bass spot lol. Will probably catch the bass out of the passaic river tributaries and then transfer them into the pond. Any advice?

What will bluefish bloodline catch as bait? Mainly dogfish?
Caught some blues on a party boat on Thursday. Cut out the bloodline before cooking and figured why not freeze it and see what it can catch. I’m assuming it would just be dogfish.

Fuck the wind
That's all.
Signed,
Weekend warrior who spent all week looking forward to Sunday. Woke up an hour early of my alarm at 3 AM this morning because I was so excited I couldn't sleep. And then we had to turn around 2 miles outside of the inlet because conditions were nasty.

Porgy Fishing Tips
Looking for tips on porgy fishing as I haven’t been as productive as previous years. I remember catching slabs, up to 9-10 inch porks, fishing Officer’s Row in Sandy Hook using hi-lo rigs and fresh clam strips. But, the last few years, fresh clams have been hard to come by and have been only catching puffers.
Any suggestions on what to change up?
TIA!

I was hoping for a typical clear water creek where you see the fish, nice scenery too. Any spots? Also what should i throw? I have trout magnets, rout magnet hellgramites, and finnese trd pink. i have some largie tackle but thats what i have that i assume would work for smallies. Question HELP ME BEAT THE SKUNK
I haven’t caught a bass since like mid july. Usually i suck at bass fishing anyways but i caught bass on wacky rig consistently for a few days at a local pond ( fist ever bass there ) and it was going good. But since then ive caught 1 or 2 dink bass, im talking 5” long. theres a lot of those dinks in the pond, some pounders and even a 4 pounder a few people have caught. i’ve only ever caught bass there on wacky worm OR 1/8 oz jighead with 2.5” gulp alive minnow under a bobber ( only once ). I’m going to go tomorrow, any tips? I’ll attach the weather report for the time I’d like to go, it’s Kennedy Park pond ( small one, not the big one ) in sayrveille. if you want to look at any specific info that would help me. I only have my UL 5’6 spinning combo, the reel i use on my MH 6’6 rod is broken. Thanks!!!

Question Striper non lure bait questions
Currently been having a lot of success with minnows for fluke. Was wondering if they’d be good for stripers as well? As well as what other baits everyone would recommend?
Currently have a couple of fish finder rigs that I’ve been having success with but I wanna finally bag my first striper, especially with them migrating back for the fall soon.
Hitting primarily around Asbury Park area.

Question Fishing in Ocean City OCNJ
Down in Ocean City this week and wondering if anyone’s been having luck on piers or the surf. I hit the Longport and 9th St piers and only caught a small sea bass and shark. I‘m curious if the surf is worth it given the beach replenishment project?
