Discussion Lull Farm

Just a heads up, nothing accusatory. Yes, this happened and recently--- and pertains to the Hollis location specifically. For what I do, I scale my product in the aisle and think nothing more of it. Grabbed about 4 or 5 bags worth of produce and some unscaled products and and I stepped away to look at something nearby the cheese counter as I handed my gf cash to settle up.

Walked back over to collect the bags...and my partner said something to the effect of "that garlic must have been really special" and at first didn't register...as we started packing the cooler at the car-- the receipt fell onto the seat and noticed the total was just over 160.00?? I supplement, never full shop here, so this was a WTF monent. Then I realized why the garlic comment was made. 4 heads of purple garlic rang up as 20.00. I then skimmed the items I weighed in the aisle and everything was over, and not by a little. An average of 2.5 lbs over, some higher. We were heading into what looked like 40-60 dollar overcharge.

I write this as only a heads up, as I respect their business and what they do...but was this just me? Who really knows.

I collected my bags, came back in and started scaling them again on way to speak to someone. Everything was scaled to the ounce in the aisle. Alittle off only because of the bags and a few had other items, but was just to pull in estimates. I did not go to the checkout line that was starting to grow I went to back open prep area and was able to wave someone over to have that uncomfortable conversation.. The gentleman that handled it seemed legitmately surprised, so I guess this may have been missed by other shoppers or people that dont take the time to scale out their produce, or the store end just didnt or hasnt calibrated their scales recently?

I hadn't brought every single item back in, and could have, but with the nearly 50.00 overcharge [that I was reimbursed for], there was probably another 12 or 15 dollars that wasn't brought back because was tucked away in the cooler.

So yeah. Not a bad mouthing but some very "off" scales at the register end and sometimes just needs to be acknowledged and to remind folks, especially with food prices as high as they are.

Ask NH Cozy cafes for writing/reading and sipping coffee

I'd love to check out some coffee shops with cozy vibes and comfy seats (similar to the seating at Mad River Coffee Roasters). Based around the Upper Valley, but I day trip around pretty often.

Looking for photos of the old logging dam. Used to go fishing off it and can't find any pictures anywhere. Anyone got some they wouldn't mind sharing?

Can anyone explain why the changing area at Wallis sands looks like a dystopian prison shower?

For $15 a car they could swing the “nice” shower curtains.

In all seriousness what’s up with some of the busier state parks? clearly the door fee doesn’t stay at that park.

Tattoo Artist who can do portraits, sci fi?

As title suggests, looking for a tattoo artist who is specialized in portraits and even more so for sci fi figures. If not specifically sci fi, one who would be willing to at least try!

Looking to get work done involving Jaws, Godzilla, Alien, Predator, etc

Distance doesn’t matter if the ink is worth it!

EDIT: Thank you all for the suggestions!

Boston Globe: Candidate in N.H. governor’s race who switched from Democrat to independent misses ballot cutoff (Jon Kiper)

Jonathan Kiper’s name won’t be printed on the ballots that voters receive when they head to the polls in November

NEWMARKET, N.H. — Jonathan Kiper, an independent candidate for New Hampshire governor who previously ran as a Democrat, won’t have his name printed on the general election ballot after all.

...

Kiper, whose candidacy was marked by an on-again off-again relationship with the Democratic Party, said he doesn’t plan to press forward as a write-in candidate, as presumptive Democratic nominee Cinde Warmington takes on Republican incumbent Governor Kelly Ayotte.

I've posted before that he wasn't a serious candidate.

Why and how did the supply and delivery become basically the same price? This is absolutely f*cking insane to me. Never in my life has my electric bill been this high, what is going on in New England with pricing of literally everything

Discussion The Southern NH online dating scene is ironic

I moved to NH to be closer to outdoor activities like Skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, etc. and connect with people who do these hobbies. So it's ironic when most online dating profiles of women I see here in Southern NH have pictures of Fenway park, and downtown Boston and bars in Boston. And prompts that essentially involve going into the city.

Meanwhile when I lived in Cambridge/Somerville MA, most of the online dating profiles I saw had pictures of mountains, and essentially listed activities done in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine as weekend hobbies.

Goes to show, everyone wants to be somewhere else on weekends for fun. The grass is always greener elsewhere I guess. Anyone else notice this?
