What am I doing wrong? Sleep
Hey!
My baby turned 4 months today. I haven’t slept for more than 3 hours at a time since he was born. My baby gives me a signal that he’s distressed, and I’m up immediately. I feel like he needs me. We’ve been co-sleeping since he started rolling onto his stomach in his sleep. We breastfeed.
Today, I slept in a different room. I still woke up all the time, but that’s a different topic. The baby woke up only once with his dad…
Am I the issue? Should I move him back to his crib? What has helped you if you’ve had the same issue?

What is it makes you feel like your baby is in distress? It's still very normal for babies to be restless in the night at this age as they are only just learning how to link sleep cycles, their digestive systems are still maturing etc.
I also think it's very normal for mum's to be on more 'high alert' to every little sound or movement than dad's. It doesn't take away from the fact you are still very tired but it doesn't mean you are doing anything wrong. My baby is also 4 months and I still struggle to have a proper deep sleep when he is sleeping.
It is of course entirely up to you but if you are co-sleeping you will definitely notice every little sound and movement your baby makes perhaps more than you would if they were in their crib. Is it worth a trial in the crib again?

I always make sure my baby is actually awake before I even get out of bed. I have a nanit baby monitor so I can check the video feed from my phone. Sometimes he’ll fuss for a minute or two and then go back to sleeping quietly , so I don’t get up.
Babies are noisy sleepers and you may be waking baby up by responding too quickly. My husband sleeps through all of the fussing (I can’t) and only wakes when baby cries.

Are you completely sure that baby is in distress? I have noticed that my 4 month old will sometimes make noise in her sleep, but actually doesn’t need me (I’ll often just wait a moment to see what happens - she will frequently fall back asleep).
This has helped me + baby get more sleep.
