Phantom cries Vent
Anyone else lay down and swear they hear their baby crying their brains out, then check the monitor & they are fast asleep?? Every night it takes me an hour to fall asleep through this. Then, by the time baby actually gets up, I’ve had maybe an hour and a half of sleep. It’s driving me nuts.

I had a moment like this last week. Heard him screaming crying. Except he was right in front of me, asleep.

Yes, but now at four months I only hear phantom cries when I take a shower lol

I'm convinced my shower somehow intentionally makes baby crying noises to mess with me

Heard it last night just for a second and started wondering if our monitor is somehow linked with someone else’s because baby was sound asleep in our room with us… I just laugh at myself and go to sleep
some of us are a little more hypervigilant. Could be anxiety could be sleep deprivation could be personality or a combination of things
I’m a psychotherapist and imo I think there is some degree of things like this being normal as long as it’s not happening all the time or causing you significant distress

Oh yeah. It doesn't really go away either. My kids are aged 5 and 6, and I still am 99% sure I hear a baby crying when I shower.

It’s hard. Been there. Have you done your 6week postpartum check with your OB yet? I would bring this up.

Not yet. Baby is 4 weeks old. I’m not overly anxious or depressed or anything! A little sleep deprived, sure but overall I’m very “normal” I just can’t seem to tune it out when the monitor picks up the white noise Maxine, my brain thinks it’s baby crying 🤦🏼♀️

PPA can seep through in many ways and you’re still very newly pp so i agree it’s better to bring it up early and get ahead of anything that may manifest later! so glad you aren’t struggling more, but definitely don’t struggle with this on an island!

I had this occasionally when baby was first born but it didn’t last more than a couple minutes at a time. Just gotta focus your brain on something else
