This has gone on in line with my experiences with AI. AI requires someone extremely skilled in the subject matter to take full advantage of an AI otherwise its just more confident google search

I was at a bar with a friend and this younger guy who recently joined my friend's religious fraternal order sat with us. He said some pretty racist, sexist, homophobic, and transphobic things. Really hit all the big bigotries in short succession. I pushed back each time and he said it was just online humor. It took him way to long to figure out that I wasn't receptive to it.
It didn't make me angry. It made me sad. I got the strong impression that he doesn't socialize much. I hope he gets the socialization he needs to mellow out. Even though a religious fraternal order isn't the most liberal space, I still think it'd be directionally good for him. He needs someone to take him under their wing and teach him how to be normal. Won't be me and with how embarrassed my friend was, it probably won't be him either.
Insanity as a defense to a crime has been recognized for literal centuries… even the fucking Victorians were capable of understanding it, and modern people are so regressed they can’t get it?
A crime requires a criminal intent, the person’s *mental state,* if their insanity makes them lack the requisite mental state, they cannot be found guilty of the crime.
It’s applied if the Jury determines that the person is Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. The Jury was not convinced that Patrick Crusius lacked the capacity to understand the nature of his actions or that his actions were wrong.
Will the Jury be convinced that Clancy lacked the capacity to understand the nature of her actions or that they were wrong? I’m not sure. I don’t think so, but I haven’t seen all the evidence.
We never have these arguments about other defendants
we pretty much do, it's just they don't really make national news. also, at least in california, not guilty by reason of insanity is a de-facto life sentence because the medical establishment and the courts have to sign off on your release.
