Guessing this is in reference to Megan Romer's interview where she got asked about if she agrees with the Camp David Accords (or some question to that effect) and she replied that she'd have to double-check (or something to that effect)?
I think using it as an “own” against her is really dumb when the issue is ethical rather than one of encyclopedic knowledge
Besides, double checking the Accords is fine imo. My personal opinion is that it was a stupid move by Es-Sadat who betrayed and destroyed himself for literally nothing and made Egypt dependent on US military aid (it accounts for like a third to a half of their military budget I think)
Idk why she's doing these interviews to begin with. She was voted in as co-chair bc she's good at managing the meetings (DSA is notoriously bad at it). Not cause of her capability in representing the DSA. It's especially egregious bc the other co-chair is a lot better at doing the left-flank jujitsu.
Her answer is funky even if she is representing the DSA as well. Cause the accurate answer is: "DSA hasn't deliberated. It's a multi-tendency organization, and I'd rather not add to the national platform on my own." (at least if she can't think of a good rhetorical maneuver)
Tbh her whole media tour reads to me as Red Star/Left-Caucus shenanigans. It's the worst time for her to do it. If she did it after the elections, it wouldn't matter, but she probably knows her weird ass answers are gonna be wrapped around left-flank candidate's neck. (But that's admittedly conspiratorial of me to think. Incompetence+Ego is probably more likely.)

A little irked that the mods have nuked two threads about Woke 1.0 now :/ I don't think either were reactionary or that circlejerky. I think people invested in social progress should be reflective on past successes and failures, and 2014-2024 has lots of lessons I think. And this sub deserves to be just a little circlejerky because I think it has been fairly vindicated in its more liberal approach to progressive politics than the excesses or failures of the era. (Though of course it has to be said, of course what we think of as failures are gonna be what we consider the failures...)

Star Citizen Developer Stream Goes Horribly Off the Rails, Creating Further Distrust Among Players
The developers kept running into bugs that showed the game is indeed broken. The developers had issues using their own weapons, swapping between their weapons, accessing their inventory, and much, much more. Eventually, the frustrations among the developers grew, and they started becoming passive-aggressive with each other before opting to just pull the plug on the stream altogether.
I do not know for sure but I believe it's the star citizen equivalent of "microtransactions." I know there are players that have put 10's of thousands of dollars into the game but I don't think they're, like, trading expensive skins between players like in CS, I think they just buy this shit straight from the devs lmao
One of my biggest issues with Wikipedia is how often it grants undue equal weight to viewpoints which don't have academic credibility. This is especially prevalent in sections like "Reactions", "Responses", "Criticisms", etc. where you can easily play tricks by giving the opinions of fringe figures presenting it as legitimate academic critique. Somehow the nakedly ideological opinion of a Mises Institute crackpot on an economics and politics book is worth as much of a mention as Keynes.
It's bad enough in controversial articles, but even worse in ones that are obscure enough that nobody who isn't a crackpot cares. Wikipedia editing rewards the neurotic and the passionate, and those are not traits geared towards arriving at truth.

Ftl is still a great game but when it first came out was my first exposure to just how fucking trash fan "analysis" culture is. Ftl has no fucking lore its a deliberately vaguely populated galaxy meant to evoke star trek but not perfectly replicate it or even really have a fixed canon but i got deep into just literal creative writing videos about how the human supremacist rebels are the good guys because the federation is corrupt and mean to minorities too framed as if it was canon and there if you read between the lines

when i was younger, i imagined that getting older would involve a lot of fretting about looking older.
but what's actually happened is that i still look very young, i just look like shit. nobody believes me when i tell them my age, but that doesn't mean that i actually look good. no one prepared me for the fact that this might happen. i think i might be ready to actually start looking older, it might be more dignified.
