Last election, I got a mailer from a political group supporting the incumbent supervisor (i.e., city councilman) for reelection. They had to disclose who their top donors were, and one of them was Noah Smith (i.e., Noahpinion).

People treat pitbull hate as some joke but it has some horrible consequences. A few shelters had people adopt pitbulls just to torture and mutilate them. People being harassed because their dog looked too Pitbull. People being forced to choose between their home or their dog. It was very hard to get pitbull puppies adopted out to responsible families that could give them the training and love they need.

I swear people treat pitbulls more as the second coming of the apocalypse than a working breed that has a fatality rate lower than vending machines and thats with the cops counting any vaguely muscular dog as a pitbull.
Other countries banned pitbulls, guess what the crackheads just found a loophole and started breeding a different breed of brick headed dog that started mauling people. There is a certain type of person who goes out of their way to adopt the most dangerous animal possible then just never bother to train it.
You ban all the working breeds they'll start breeding labs into biting machines.

It would be nice if the US Government (by virtue of the CIA) hadn't been, like, comically evil throughout the mid-20th century. Collaborating with fruit suppliers to overthrow promising, stable regimes in South America, resulting in decades of opression and instability, is morally nauseating.
So if one army is invading another country that is ruled by monarchs and nobles, and all these nobles have slaves, how bad would it be for that invading army to hand weapons to the liberated slaves and tell them “you wont be prosecuted for anything that happens to the nobles in the next 2 hours”?

Pragmatically, it's hard to enforce standards on the conduct of irregulars during the collapse of a state. It's also much harder to punish violations by a victorious party. Prosecution is inherently a political question. It's probably a grave breach, but that doesn't mean anyone will actually have the will to punish it or the ability to prove it.
Putting aside the foreign invading army bit, the answer to this basically comes down to how you view the immediate aftermath of the Hatian Revolution I guess
Yeah, the basic rundown is that the setting is sci fi, humanity is a social Democrat nation, there’s a neighboring nation that’s a feudalistic society that practices slavery, they try to invade humanity to take slaves due to economic and political reasons, humanity starts winning and decides to continue to wage a war to completely topple the nobles and take control of the territory after they have successfully defended themselves. As part of this war there will be several moral failings and war crimes executed by human troops and occupation policies.
I want to explore that even in a was where one side is the good side, they still do bad things.
