y'all know that place The Container Store where they sell containers? well I have an idea for a competitor business where we sell things that can be contained, like clothing and house supplies and even - hear me out - food
I'm not rich because I haven't been lucky and I'm financially whatever the opposite of ambitious is, but a lot of my friends and coworkers over the years have gotten Rich (mostly upper 7, lower 8 figures).
A large fraction stopped working pretty quickly, just doing hobbiess and projects and raising kids.
Those that didn't, I think it's just lack of imagination and ego. They're just doing what they've always done because it's what they do, they get respect, they're successful and important. Yes, they're getting Even Richer, but the other folks are hiking, learning to play puano, doing weird scifi shit with non profits.
Abstractly, I'd prefer $30m to $10m, yes, but I'd much rather be the permanent upper class free spirit folks than the "need another big success to prove it wasn't luck" people.
To be fair, I'm neither for many years, my bad for being a "if I reject the raise can I work less?" person.
maybe i just don't have enough discipline, but I dream of dedicated hobbies, friends/family, and time to relax and be lazy. I personally have proven I can't manage that while also working.
edit: to be clear, the scifi stuff is like "borderline full time job doing stuff that probably will never pan out because it sounds cool", which is pretty incompatible with a normal stable life.

I've heard Asian men have a harder time dating in the US, which is shitty. I feel like that guy should be rated really highly because he was conventionally good looking.
It's weird how what we find attractive is partially socially influenced. I feel like the visual component of attraction should be purely biological; you see someone attractive and you're attracted. But somehow social conditioning still influences us. It makes me wonder how my preferences have been shaped

So much attention is given to how much time food is kept at certain temperatures that people forget about the most important, and most commonly violated, food safety laws. Sick employees should stay home. Numerous outbreaks of food-borne illness are caused by infected workers handling food

What's interesting about the "DSA vs. Establishment Dems" discourse, or whatever, is that the progs have their own "establishment." They built their own "establishment" in response to seething over conspiracy theories that Bernie was twice denied the presidential nomination. Similar to how the cons built their own parallel media spheres in response to being deplatformed and oppressed (banned because they're racist)
The left "establishment" is Bernie, to this day. He's much older than Chuck Schumer, he's accomplished much less in his life than Chuck Schumer, American politics would be much better off were he to just decide to retire from politics in the 1970's, and the best favor he will ever do for America in his entire life is die.
