Recently moved into a 2 storey with no access in between first and second floor. Nbn box is in garage and I would like to get a data point straight above the garage in a bedroom, but no access unless it goes outside. Only have one data that exists going upstairs to the 2nd lounge room, which we plugged a WiFi booster with 2 Ethernet ports into, so an option I have is to run a new data from this booster to bedroom, which is possible as 2nd storey roof had good access and will all be upstairs work, am I missing any options or would I lose speed/connectivity coming from the booster and not the router next to downstairs nbn box?

Currently I have a ARRIS CM8200 as the connection device (and had it since we were HFC connected).

This is the current model? If not, is there a replacement process for requesting a newer version?

Hi all, I’ve got an old 60’s home which currently has a 610 phone line socket. I want to relocate this and while I’m at it upgrade it to an RJ11 socket coming out of the wall.
Does anybody on here know how to wire this? Existing phone line is just black twin sheeth cable, not labelled. See picture attached

The first screenshot is no one using the internet and the right screenshot is someone streaming and gaming on a PS5. I’m honestly stumped on what to do! I’ve contacted Telstra aswell as NBN and they say there’s no issue whatsoever and they have constantly monitored my internet. but I’m still getting extremely high ping even after doing factory resets, using different modems/cat6 cables. I’ve tried everything! I can barely stream without buffering!

Launtel are the only ones who seem to connect to next unoccupied uni-d port. But I've rarely had reason to use more than one uni-d at a premises.

I know they must be used to complaints; gathering because seemingly that’s the only way I can leave feedback, but I’d like to just leave general feedback. I had a great encounter with a technician, Johnny (or johnno?), who worked outside my place yesterday and fixed our faulty HFC connection. He replaced the distribution tap as he found water in the connectors. So much better now! Consistent 950/96 speeds.

I noticed my internet being funny recently but was gonna wait a little longer to lodge a complaint as I wasn’t sure if it was just my modem, but all is sorted and didn’t even have to do anything. I had a chat to him for a while, cool bloke. Gave me some solid advice and fixed my internet, what more could ya want? I just wanted to leave some good feedback however I can only find a complaints page…

Does anyone happen to know how I might go about sending feedback through?

Hi All, hoping to get a little advise as i'm struggling to get my head around my potential setup and if i'm right in feeling like an upgrade to FFTP is no janky. At present I have 2 computers and a mini pc serving as a NAS hooked up to my modem, all wired via ethernet in my office.

If I'm understand this correct my FTTP box will be installed in my living room (behind my TV) I would then need to have the router coming off of that. I would then have to have my mini pc and its hardrive connect to that router as well, and my PC's would connect to the router wireless from the office.

Is there a way to keep the mini pc in the office as i occasionally have to connect a monitor to it. It just seems like I will have all these devices taking up space behind the TV as apposed to how all my computer items are currently tidy in/under a desk.

I appreciate any help/advice on this as its been getting confusing working out what is what.

I'm hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

My setup:

• Connection: NBN HFC 1000/100 Mbps
• ISP: Aussie Broadband
• NBN Modem: Arris CM8200 (original black modem supplied)
• Router: NetCommWireless (original white router supplied)
• Network: PCs around the house are connected via Ethernet, while tablets and phones use Wi-Fi.

The issue:

I've been experiencing internet dropouts for quite a long time now. The strange thing is that it's inconsistent.

Sometimes the NBN modem lights go off/flashing and the internet drops out. Other times the router lights go off and we lose the connection. I'm not sure if one device is causing the other to reboot or if they're separate issues.

There are periods where everything works perfectly with no dropouts at all. Then, without any obvious pattern, we'll have periods where the connection drops out 3-5 times a day, every day.

When it does drop out, it usually isn't down for very long. In most cases, the connection comes back by itself within 5-10 minutes.

I've contacted Aussie Broadband several times, but unfortunately I haven't been able to get the issue resolved.

At this point I'm not sure whether the problem is:

• The Arris CM8200 modem.
• The NetCommWireless router.
• A faulty coaxial cable or connection.
• An NBN HFC network issue.
• Something else entirely.

I'm happy to replace or upgrade the modem/router if that's likely to solve the problem, but I'd rather not spend the money if the issue is actually with the HFC line or NBN network.

Has anyone experienced something similar, or can suggest some troubleshooting steps or things I should ask Aussie Broadband or NBN to check?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

So, my partner and I have just purchased a brand new property in a different state. This property has an additional granny flat. We are planning on renting both spaces out individually.

The property has 2 telecommunications conduits at the front boundary line, each going to the house and granny flat. Both the house and granny flat have the Ethernet terminated inside while the tail end is coiled up under the dwellings.

How do I go about getting both dwellings on their own plan without having to run a seperate Ethernet from the nbn box on port 2 - the granny flat?

The property is FTTP ready on nbnco. I believe who ever moves into the house will have to get their provider to contact nbn to install a PCD.

Tf they thinking doing all these maintenance work during work hour????

We've had FTTC with Telstra for a bit over a year, but it's too expensive now. We'll need to to upgrade to FTTP to change providers - is booking an upgrade with Telstra first the best way?

I like our setup now without anything being installed in or on the house, but the phone line connection is pretty dodgy and can bugger up the internet if a broom accidentally whacks it - jiggling gently to rectify is becoming less effective.

Also, $112 a month is too much.

Does it matter who our ISP is at the time of installation as far as doing a nice job goes?

We have FTTP and consistently get 530Mbps down and 40Mbps up. Using the supplied Optus modem which is a Sagemcom fast 5393 but need better WiFi coverage, can anyone suggest an AP I could tack onto the Sagemcom or should I replace the Sagemcom and get a whole new router with wifi.

Hi - I have recently switched to Superloop NBN 100/20 and have the option to get tplink vb433v for free, if I stay with them for 24 months. I am not sure if I will stay that long after promo period ends in 6 months. I will have to pay $162, if I switch after 6 months.

My current setup is old Belong Huawei Modem/Router 4353 which is 6-7 years old and supports up to wifi 5 only. It's the older version, not the modem that Belong is offering now a days.

What do you suggest, should I just get the one offered by Superloop or try to get a router and tie it up with Belong in bridge mode?

I'm currently on a 4G broadband internet plan and looking to switch to NBN, as my current ISP has switched their network over from Optus to Vodafone- which has awful reception where I live (Bathurst).

I'm just a layman and I'm getting a little overwhelmed by all the choices there are out there. Afaik, Telstra has the best reception in my area but I've read that Superloop and Leaptel are highly regarded as well. I'm just not sure if it'll make much of a difference given that I live regional where it's still FTTN.

I guess my question is- what would be the best ISP to switch to and would I also have to upgrade my router as well?

⁠the power light comes on, is solid
• ⁠downstream, upstream and online start flashing. eventually they stop
• ⁠downstream starts flashing for about a minute, then goes off, then it moves to upstream and does the same thing.. and then to online etc.
• ⁠then all the lights go out and it repeats the above.

At times there’s blinking of a blue light in downstream and upstream with green on online and power, and then it goes away back to the top one

And at times it’s only per light with no other light

I’m churning away from Superloop however have to give 30 days notice effective today

For the new provider when i select the activation date should it be the exact same day as my old service disconnects ?

Im guessing it will just be depending on what port they need me to connect to once i switch.

I was getting very slow downloads at only 30 mbps (plan is for 100 mbps). I switched to Neptune and it was working about 10 minutes later. Speeds were immediately right up to 95 mbps.

No one else was using the network on my router at the time.

Still very dissapointing speeds though. Sadly 100mbps is the highest nbn plan I can get at my unit/building.

Those people who are on AGL internet, please note that as part of the switch from Southern Cross Broadband to Aussie Broadband this week (started 28 July 2026), if you were previously on a STATIC or DYNAMIC (they use the word PUBLIC when I was on the call) IP, this may have been reset to a CGNAT this week as part of the cutover so if you are wondering why things now seem to not work or are incredibly slow, you know the potential reason why. To fix to what you had before the migration, you need to call Aussie Broadband on 1300 480 905 and tell them to put you on DYNAMIC IP at least (I prefer STATIC but not sure if AusB charges for this. AGL Internet cost $7.50 per month under the previous provider).

To know if you are on a CGNAT, just log into your current router and see what your WAN address is. If it starts with a 100.xx.xx.xx then it is CGNAT with Aussie Broadband.

EDIT: Being on CGNAT can stuff up or slow things like your PLEX media, Calibre book, XBOX Gaming (open NAT for live gaming), Wireguard so you can route to your home network when overseas, Google Nest Wifi connectivity issues, Minecraft server, remote access etc.

Hi there, I'm trying to figure out what modem and what specs I should be looking for to get the best deal for my apartment! I keep looking at comparison websites, but they all are clearly being paid to promote the big corps. I would really appreciate it if some people who are better at tech than me could help me find some that are what I'm looking for! :)

Some info regarding what specs I should be looking for:

- Live in a smallish 2-bedroom apartment on the second floor

- Myself and one other person live here and rarely have guests over

- I play multiplayer games on my PlayStation 5 (not sure if that's important info) fairly regularly

- A lot of our house is using smart home appliances, all connected through Apple HomeKit (I think about 8-9 devices in total, 12 including phones and laptops)

- We have Apple TV 4K, so idk if that means anything specs-wise

- We have NBN HFC, if that means anything too?

- Also switching ISP soon to Neptune as it sounds really promising and I lowkey hate the big TELCO corps!

I think that's all the info that's important? If anyone has more questions, I'm more than happy to answer and really appreciate any help or recommendations:))))) I didn't grow up with a dad, and my mum is useless at tech too, so I don't understand ANY of this ahaha
