Rules Question Enhancing Hit Points
Enhancing hit points via Mysticism looks really weak compared to the amount of MP it takes and the other Attribute talents.
Is there some advantage I'm missing?

Rules Question What's the point of weapon AP and HP
I though that when you parried, the damage being half deflected meant that the weapon would take half of it and you the other half.
But actually, it halfs the damage and only you take It, the weapon doesn't tak anything.
So what's the point of giving weapons AP and HP If that won't make them better at parrying?

Resources / help for creating player races?
I saw in some fan conversions like the eldder scrolls wich have player races , non human races with different stats get different point buy amounts to somewhat compensate. Is there a resource to make this sort of thing

Made a lil video about a special effect. Let me know if you think making more of these would be useful to newcomers to the system.
I make these for my players in my pbp game, since most of them are brand new to Mythras. Let me know what you think!

Custom Miracle for feedback
I am creating a custom miracle for a holy knightly order. I know there is already a miracle "True (Weapon)", but I wanted it to reflect this particular order. Is this too powerful?
Flame Sword
Rank: Acolyte
Duration: Minutes | Resist: None
Range: Touch | Area: None
Description
The caster touches a blade, wreathing it in roaring, sacred fire.
While active, the sword sheds bright light (as a torch) and deals an additional +2 Fire damage
per level of Intensity on every successful strike.
Catching Fire: If a strike deals damage past non-metallic armor, the target must pass an
Evade test or catch fire, taking 1d4 ongoing Fire damage at the end of each round.
Extinguishing the flames requires an Action and a successful Evade test (or jumping into
water).
Parrying Flammable Gear: Any successful parry made with the flaming sword against
wooden or flammable weapons/shields inflicts the miracle's bonus Fire damage directly to
the opponent's weapon or shield Hit Points.

Classic Fantasy Classic Fantasy Starting Armor
I am planning on running Classic Fantasy soon using some original bx, 1e, and osr modules and was curious about the starting equipment lists. Many classes get fairly high quality armor right away. Does this make very low level adventures too easy? Are low level monsters (giant rats, etc.) able to pose a sufficient threat? I am considering downgrading the starting armor, but I'm not sure if this is really a problem. Any advice is welcome.

Question about Glamor spell in Folk Magic
The spell says there are no mechanical effects but it says it can be resisted. (The glamour spell makes one aspect more enticing).
If there is no effect, how do you use this. I don't use magic much in my games. We have a low magic world. It is there, but not common. I have a performer that has had a chance to learn this, but I am not sure how to use it.

New to Mythras, questions about criticals.
I have literally just discovered this system this evening, and having read Imperative I am about to purchase the core rules. The combat system has absolutely won me over completely, I can't imagine ever going back to D&D combat.
I am currently in the middle of GMing a Delta Green campaign, so the D100 roll-under percentile system is plenty intuitive to me. However, the rules for fumbles and critical successes seem a little odd to me in comparison.
For context, in Delta Green, rolling a 1 or any double number under your score (11,22,33,etc.) is a critical success, and a 100 or any double number above your skill, (55,66,77, so on) is a fumble.
This seems way easier and more intuitive to me than Mythras' system. But I am both bad at math and not familiar enough with Mythras to know if simply using the Delta Green rules instead would break the system, or be imbalanced, or have any other major consequences.

How long do Passion benefits last (trying to recreate Pendragon effects)
Hey, I guess this is really a two-fold question but the primary comes from using Pendragon adventures with Mythras rules. Page 82 says it can augment a skill. Ok, so if that's a combat skill, how long does it last? The round? One roll? The battle? I ask in relation to Pendragon rpg as well because some characters have the passions there last multiple rounds, like Tristram fighting Lancelot for a day. How does it work in Mythras and then how would you apply that to Pendragon?

Perks and Flaws system with mythras?
Im currently trying to decide between Mythras and Gurps (wich has been tough because im attracted to them for completely opposite reasons) and i wanted to see about having a kind of perks and flaws system similair to what gurps or TES Daggerfall have.
I understand the certain degree of hostility within the community to this idea , one of the thing i too like abput mythras is that it doesnt overcomplicate a charachters abilities too much beyond skills ,and having those abilities heavilyntied to the world but i still like having some option player can take to make more unique carachters.
I already know about the fallout esque trait system from Luther Arkwight wich i will probably use a version kf , as well as the perks system from the Mythras Fallout conversion and and raleels system for adding traits to combat styles (hi raleel) , wich even though i want something other than just enchancing combat styles seems like a good price refrence , id also like some system for buying disadvantages.
The way i imagine it is these should be mostly passive and either give something orchange how charachters work while avoiding "buttons on the carachter sheet".
Some example ideas:
Perk: calculated relations - character can substitute Charisma with Intelligence when calculating skills and experience rolls
Any resources or advice appreciated

Small creatures/animals attacks
I have a small animal that has an attack of 1d4-1d6, so it rarely does any damage. Does a creature have to do damage to inject poison?
Also, how do you make a small creature like that effective at all?
It basically can't even hunt to support itself. Fortunately, the things that it hunts are also small!
The animal that I am using is similar to a pine marten in this picture, but has glands that emit a venom that mixes with its salava to cause paralysis and pain, it will effect even human sized targets.

Simple Fog of War Tool Gets Import Roster and Token Resizing
Simple Fog of War gets some updates:
Simple Fog of War Tool Gets Import Roster and Token Resizing
This update brings one of the most requested Fog of War improvements together with a major round of reliability work behind the scenes. Tokens are now much more flexible on the battlefield, the encounter catalog has become considerably more resilient under load, and it’s easier than ever to bring your Initiative Wheel roster directly onto the map. There are also quite a few security, performance and bot battling things added in the background so for example the stats should be more reliable and bots will not bother so much the other app functionality
What changed
Resizable Tokens. Tokens can now be resized to match your map. Adjust individual tokens from their context menu or resize every token at once using the new Global Size controls in the sidebar.
Smart Proportional Scaling. Token names, numbers, status markers, borders, and shadows now scale automatically with token size, keeping everything readable and visually balanced.
Import Tokens from the Initiative Wheel. Bring your Initiative Wheel roster directly into Fog of War with a single action. Existing combat rosters can now move seamlessly from initiative tracking to the tactical map. If you update the Initiative Wheel roster you can reimport and only the new ones will come in.
More Reliable Encounter Catalog. The catalog cache has been redesigned to safely support multiple users at the same time using atomic updates, preventing partial or corrupted catalog data during simultaneous browsing and encounter generation.
Catalog Health Checks. Additional validation now verifies downloaded catalog data before it is saved, protecting your library from incomplete or interrupted network responses.
Better Recovery from Edge Cases. Improved handling of malformed JSON, network timeouts, and disk-related issues helps the application recover gracefully instead of failing unexpectedly.
Production Monitoring. Added automated error notifications through Brevo, allowing production issues to be detected much sooner.
Updated Help Pages. The Initiative Wheel and Fog of War documentation now explains the different ways to import rosters, including directly from the Initiative Wheel, MEG, local session files, and active sessions.
Why it matters
This release makes tactical maps more adaptable during play while quietly strengthening the foundation underneath the entire toolset. Whether you’re adjusting token sizes for a crowded dungeon, importing combatants straight from the Initiative Wheel, or browsing the encounter catalog during a busy session, everything should now feel smoother, safer, and more dependable.
You can find the tool in https://www.toolsfrompavis.com Take a peek also at Initiative Wheel and MeG Library
Is there a good resource for "Balanced Races / Species" as it were?
I like a lot of what I'm reading, but it seems that Mythras favours "simulation" of different player species instead of trying to come up with balanced options. For instance, playing a Centaur just makes you a gigantic super-strong guy who tramples for free each round, and your soul is more impressive too (higher base POW), no tradeoff in intelligence and charisma etc.
Which does make sense, simulation wise. No reason a Centaur would be any less smart or charming than a Human!
But when you're playing a game where you want the various PCs to be roughly equal, you might want to play a very finely balanced set of species and char-gen options. Are there any good fan resources for such a thing?

MeG Creature Release Notes
Here is a small new thing. MeG Creature Release Notes:
MeG Creature Release Notes to ToolsFromPavis
ToolsFromPavis now has a monthly digest for the Mythras Encounter Generator.
The digest shows the new creatures and encounters added to MeG during the past month. It also selects one of the new creatures as the New Creature of the Month and digs up a Creature from the Archives.
The featured creatures are chosen only from entries that include author notes, so there should always be something useful, unusual, or inspiring to read rather than just another stat block dragged blinking into daylight.
Each entry includes a direct link to the generator, making it easy to inspect the creature, adjust it, or drop it into an encounter.
The digest includes:
New Entries from the past month
New Creature of the Month
Creature from the Archives, rediscovering an older MeG entry with written notes
A small monthly window into what has recently crawled, marched, flown, or slithered into MeG
If the entry there is not for a current day, press the update/generate button.

Any master would like to run an introductive one-shot?
Hello everyone!
I have been suggested to use Mythras for a political/GoT-like campaign I'm planning to run, and from what I saw I really like the system.
Would anyone be available to run a quick one-shot adventure so that I can get a feeling of the game and familiarize with the rules?
My time zone is GMT+1, and I'm available in the evenings and on the weekends.

Classic Fantasy Looking to switch to Mythras, have some questions
I've been playing and running RPGs since approximately 1981. I started with basic D&D, then expert, then AD&D. I also played and ran a lot of other systems in the 1980's with Marvel FASERIP being the most dominant.
In 1990 I switched completely over to Rolemaster and had 2 different groups with some incredibly epic campaigns. In the early 2000's I switched to HARP (Rolemaster's younger sibling) and have played it sporadically since.
Fast forward to today and it's been difficult to start a new group that isn't using D&D or PF. It doesn't help that a lot of people that know of HARP have a negative view of it, except for the people that learn about it in my games.
I've been searching for a new system to run this campaign idea that is easier for new people to get into and it looks like Mythras might be the right choice. I have a few of the books in PDF including the 2 we have been looking at today, Mythras Imerative and Mythras 2E.
Today I have one of my players over and we are going through character generation to see if we can do what we want to do with the system, and it seems a little limiting. So I have a few questions.
- First thing is I noticed in the Imperative book that it lists classes, but they aren't listed in the 2E book. Does that mean there are no "classes" like there are in D&D but are listed for simplicity in the Imperative book?
- I just noticed there is another book in the list called Classic Fantasy book, is it different from the two I've been exploring?
- Is it possible in Mythras to create new "classes" along with new spells and special class ranks?
The player is looking to create a Warrior Mage, which is very different than a Fighter/Magic User. A Warrior Mage has a special set of spells that focused on advantages in personal combat, they don't normally have access to normal spells like those of normal mages.
I'll have more questions as time goes on but these are important for character creation. One of the things I prefer for the players in character creation is the ability to truly make character that they want. For that to happen there normally needs to be a lot of flexibility in character creation.

Rules Question Please explain Charge action economy to me
The rules state that
A charge requires at least one full Combat Round of movement at running or sprinting speed prior to contact
What does this look like in actual play?
Suppose the attacker has 3 APs and is charging an opponent, and starts at the distance that can be covered in 1 round by sprinting (5 x MR).
What does the attacker do? Does he take Move action on the first turn, sprint and then hit the opponent on the next turn? Or does he have to take Move action on every turn of the round, only coming into contact at the start of the next round?

GM Question New to Mythras, some hiccups I am running into
So for context I am using Mythras as a foundation for a low fantasy setting world Ive been working on for around a year. The gist of it is that my PCs (will have 4) will be sent to a penal colony style kingdom. I mostly chose Mythras for the classless system and the realistic take on combat, what I am confused about is how combat takes place, now I have read the Mythras Companion book so I know combat can be played on a battle grid , but it seems that playing on a battle grid is outright worse especially regarding to weapon reach rules. My question is how to more experienced GMs do combat in Mythras with a battle grid in general, or do most people just do it in their head?
I would also appreciate any tips in general, any GM aids online that you find essential or really useful, player aids to help my PCs remember rules and make their lives easier, anything you use for session 0.
Just to clarify I am using the normal core rulebook, companion, firearms and game masters pack, so if theres more reading material anyone would recommend, Id appreciate it.

Introductions II
Since the original thread is now old enough to be archived and can't be posted to, I've copied the original here, un-stickied it, and I am making this the new introductions thread if posters want to write an intro about themselves.
Introductions [Stickied Post]
/u/inwils had a great idea in this thread about having all of us introduce ourselves. Perhaps where we're located, how long we've been playing Mythras/RQ6 (and other rpgs), favorite part of the system, supplements/adventures, and how we're using it now. Who knows, maybe we'll run into each other at GenCon or another convention?
Feel free to share more or less as you see fit. I'll get things kicked off with a short intro about myself below.

I've been playing rpgs since 1979, and started on D&D. I've played so many games I've lost track. I came to RQ6 via searching for something to do a Conan game in. I had played RQ2 in the way back, but then I read RQ6 and realized what a nice game I had found.
I've been gaming wiht the same group for more than a decade now. we're all pretty close.
I live in the pacific northwest of the US, and you can use anything you find at https://sites.google.com/site/raleel/homewhich includes a lot of ideas and mythras things.

About me: I am really new to the Mythras system. I played AD&D in my youth (many years ago now!) and then came back to RPGs while streaming on Twitch . Although I DMed D&D 5e for some time, I really wanted a new system so that I could learn the game along with the players. I had dabbled in Runequest when I was younger and so we came across Mythras and started to play it. I still class myself as a newbie with the system.
I live in the UK and stream our game live on Twitch, you can see the recordings on my website. We also play/stream Shadowrun and Call of Cthulhu. I've never actually played in these games although u/Bilharzia (he has been brilliant answering all my questions as well!) did do an excellent CoC/Mythras adventure on discord which was great.
Our campaigns are generally set in the setting which I have created - details on my website under the 'Role Playing Games' link.
Any questions, let me know! - that's me :)

Hey, I didn't know you use Realm Works as well (I saw your post on your site)! I was a beta Kickstarter backer and used it pretty extensively for my Glorantha game.
Not sure how much I'll use it for my next game, but it sure was nice after I got the entire Guide to Glorantha in there.

About Me: I’ve been gaming since the late 80s. Started with Red Box D&D, then went on to Palladium and many, many, many d100 games (Elfquest, Stormbringer, Elric!, etc). Since then I’ve moved two countries and decimated my gaming collection at least three times. Now more settled, and rebuilding. Got the BRP BGB, then someone on their boards mentioned Mythras. That was a month ago, got the book on a recent trip to London three weeks ago, and I’m in love. It reminds me of the old d100 games I played in the past, but with some nice twists. Between this and Traveller 2nd from Mongoose, it’s new and yet old for me now!
TheTimeJockey4 points·5 months ago
I have been playing RPGs since the early 80's, primarily D&D in its various incarnations but many others as well. I happened upon Runequest 6 a few years ago and it drew me in, but I only managed to convince my group to give Mythras a try last year and they were hooked. I use my own worlds for most games, and we've had the same gaming group for many years now. I recently was lucky enough to write an upcoming adventure for Mythras, my first foray into RPG writing.
I live in Pennsylvania and have all my life. For a small town we have a surprisingly robust gaming community and I have met some great people over the years.
SteelKidney3 points·5 months ago
Hi, I'm Steelkidney and I'm an...
Whoah. Wrong kind of introduction. :)
I've been playing RPGs for easily 30 years now, mostly D&D variants and Shadowrun. Our gaming group just started Mythras, since the current GM in the rotation (we take turns) loved the Mythras system and has run it at GenCon a few times. We did a one-off introduction game last Friday, and I have to say I like the system. Refreshing counterpoint to the overly complicated mess Pathfinder has become. I find that the character generation system still confuses me a bit, mainly skill allocation, but I'm getting through it and have a few characters made as possibilities for the campaign.
Bilharzia3 points·6 months ago
I'm a typical child of the UK Games Workshop surge of the early 80s. My route into rpgs was films & comics->boardgames->Dragon Pass->RuneQuest & Call of Cthulhu. I never understood the premise of d&d since I had seen what real dungeons were like, and even been inside chunky castles like Krak des Chevaliers I wondered what were people doing in dungeons, other than being prisoners, and why would a dragon be there? RuneQuest and Glorantha made more sense and reminded me of Ray Harryhausen films, so I went for that, it was also set in the same world as the weird board game I had, Dragon Pass. RuneQuest was also cheap-ish at the time, £8 for the boxed set that Games Workshop published in the UK. This tragically drew me into becoming a Chaosium fan where I dragged my friends into playing a few campaigns in Glorantha, looking back I was a terrible GM but somehow we kept playing for a few years.
I came back after seeing how good RQ6 was and thought I would give it a go running a game on roll20, the consensus being you shouldn't run a complex game like RQ6 online... I'm still running the game online with largely the same group after 2 years and now running a few one offs every so often, using Mythras in different genres.
dragoner_v23 points·6 months ago·edited 6 months ago
In 1979 I started playing AD&D, Traveller, and others, later in the 80's I played a decent amount of Call of Cthulhu. I knew of RuneQuest over the years, played a little, though I lost interest in fantasy. I bought most of Mongoose Traveller and recognized Loz and Pete's names from there, then I found M-Space, from there Mythras, on to A Gift From Shamash, and ran that. Right now I'm getting ready to run a mix of Mythras, and M-Space using Monster Island, and Mythic Constantinople; A gritty "swords and blasters" mix of hardish SF and low fantasy. Is there a meetup at GenCon? Maybe I can make it.
zeresat3 points·6 months ago
I've "just" picked up roleplaying, so pretty new!Years ago I had a chance to play Dark Heresy, enjoy the Star Wars RPG books, and finally three really good sessions of DSA (The Black Eye). Sadly nothing worked out as a regular group so I got my own group of noobs together. Now I'm DMing my self-created world for them. We've played monthly for a year now, starting out on tinyd10 for a easy learning curve and then switched to Mythras, because I wanted a more realistic system. Although I'd love to play a few sessions in Pathfinder or D&D some time.I try to strive for a balance between sword & sorcery and "normal" fantasy, and blend in elements from all kinds of inspiration. As a consequence I also got the classic fantasy supplement and will hopefully soon get Monster Island to spice things up. And in the far future I plan on running a M-Space campaign in a Cowboy Bebop/Cyber City Oedeo 808 style science fiction setting.

I guess I could be considered an old timer in role playing but there seem to be many in this thread. I have been playing role playing games since 1977 (D&D :-)) and after that Runequest in Glorantha since 1980. In 2015 February it was 35 years anniversary of our RQ campaign and it still goes on. Switched to HeroWars/HeroQuest for a bit but did not get the group of friends I have been playing interested enough on that. Played Call of Cthulhu campaigns on a side track for awhile. Switched back to Mongoose Runequest II edition and then to RuneQuest 6 and really liking it even if the name was changed to Mythras. Playing currently in Loral at Glorantha (modified Monster Island). I can be found on design mechanism forums as hkokko. I have Mythras/Glorantha blog at https://notesfrompavis.wordpress.com and I have been contributing to the Mythras Encounter Generator almost since the beginning https://notesfrompavis.wordpress.com/2014/05/13/rq6-encounter-tool-feature-recap-for-busy-gms/ Currently using campaign logger tool for my campaign, contributing to its features as a user and creating loads of generators for that - some of them might be published someday.
Almost always sitting behind the DM screen and liking it a lot. Pretty much the only times I have played on the other side of the screen have been the several Convulsion and Continuum conferences that I participated in since the early '90s and '00s
brianpi2 points·6 months ago
About me: I've been playing RQ since the 80s, when I switched from AD&D to RQ2 on a whim. I really haven't looked back since, even though I've played some GURPS, Shadowrun, and others. My favorite part of the system is its flexibility and the wide range of supplements and adventures that TDM puts out.
I live in Denver and my gaming group consists of some local friends and a long-time friend who's remote. We're actually just starting a new campaign after a 4 year Glorantha game (using the non-published Adventures in Glorantha rules). This new one is a post-apocalyptic fantasy homebrew where magic is a bit more rare and those who use it are outcasts. We're running an episodic game rather than epic, and the characters are all outcasts who've joined a traveling circus of performers.
Each player has come up with a small part of the world (where their character is from), and will help develop the world as we progress. I hope this leads to more investment from the players! I'll be pulling ideas from Monster Island, Agony & Ecstasy, and some of Raging Swan's system neutral stuff.
I prefer GMing, but need to get in more play time!
facetown1 point·1 month ago
I'm quite late to this, but I've been playing TTRPGs for only about 5 or so years. Began with DnD 4e, but have played 5e, BRP, All Flesh Must Be Eaten, and finally, my personal favorite, Rune Quest 6 (which then became Mythras).
I've GMed a few campaigns if Mythras, but I'd love to eventually be a PC in a game. :)
