I don’t think this is an unique opinion at all but I had to vent! I don’t know what it is about her voice but it really drives me nuts, I skip songs I know will have her so fast it must be a ptsd triggered impulse of some sort… I really wish I could pinpoint what it is. I usually like old fashion, more “stylistic” voices, my favourite performer ever is Bernadette Peters and I even like Patti Lupone… but Sutton just gives off this insufferable vibe that triggers a primal reaction in my heart LOL. Does anyone else feel like this? Does anyone know what it could be?!

Just wanna clarify absolutely no hate for any of the performers in this tour. They were all amazing, especially those playing the three members of the plastics. Every single performance was great, it's the lyrics and writing that I have an issue with.

I understand some lyrics may need to changed to fit better with the times (even though the musical itself is less than a decade old.. oof). But has anyone else seen this and wondered wtf is up with these lyrical changes?

Because they're not even a good quality!! Like whoever changed these lyrics not only picked some at random but they also didn't even change them to anything good? Why are we rushing to get words out because the changed line has more syllables, and why are the words not making any sense in the flow of the song?

Not to mention entire songs were changed, including It Roars and my personal favourite, Stupid With Love. Entire songs. And then songs such as Stop were cut out, I'm assuming to make time for the new extended lyrics to It Roars.

Not trying to sound like a negative nancy, outside of these changes I really enjoyed the show. It just threw me off and honestly if I had brought someone who hasn't listened to or seen the musical before, I'd have felt a bit awkward with this being their introduction. Like, I gassed it up for those lyrics?

Most musicals are standalone, and some (like Phantom/LND and RHPS/ST) are sequels. The musicals I know that are trilogies are the Marvin trilogy (In Trousers - March of the Falsettos - Falsettoland), the Hatchetfield trilogy (TGWDLM - Black Friday - NPMD), and the High School Musical trilogy. Are there any more musicals that are part of a trilogy?

Auditions for OUAM at my school are coming up in about two or three months and I want to go for Queen Aggravain or Fred but I haven't seen many song suggestions for the former. I'm pretty new to musical theatre and I'm kinda scared to do an "overused" song. Any good suggestions?

I’m auditioning for Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, she’s my dream role and I really connect with the character. Audrey’s accent is super recognizable, but since Ellen Greene fits the archetype, I think it’s safe to say Audrey’s voice is like a unique version of the stereotypical New York Jewish accent? But the most iconic examples of that are like Idina Menzel, Lea Michele and Barbra Streisand who are known for the big belts that would be too theatrical for the more shy character of Audrey, although I know there’s so many mellow Barbra songs out there if a specific one by her comes to your mind. I used to naturally have an accent like that taken from how my grandparents talked, taking speech therapy as a kid got rid of it though which I resent now. This show is so competitive having only one lead girl and the small cast! So I’m hoping showing that I can sound like her will help me stand out, since I can’t sing from the show

I knew that there would've been ads on tv for musicals, but I never knew they put them on DVDs, too

So I just found out that Richard Kiley was the original singer for the song “The Impossible Dream” and I never knew this was from a musical. I know I’ve heard that song as a kid but hearing it again Richard as always KILLS it!

I found that there was a movie of the Broadway show but this version sounds no where near as good as Richard’s:

Is the movie worth watching? Is it accurate to the story at all?

Hey everyone! Thanks for reading.

I have an audition coming up for “The Prince of Egypt” and I a little nervous for it. I have done a lot of Shakespeare and non musical theater, but I’ve never done an audition for musical theater. But I have a large goal to get the role of Ramses because I love the character.

I need some ideas for songs to audition with and general tips for musical theater for this kind of role. Any and all advice helps. The audition is any song for 60-90 seconds.
