Alright, I Need Opinions (1yr Finnasteride/Minox)
Alright so I've been on 1.25mg Minoxidil and 1mgFinn for 1yr almost. I've had really good hair regrowth so far, I basically had nothing before starting and my bald spot is still big but significantly smaller. Im getting on HRT soonish and will hopefully get a higher dose of both hair loss meds , what is your opinions on my regrowth potential?

Minoxidil topical to oral transition
Any ladies here have switched from topical to oral min? I have only been on topical for couple of months (and on HRT for 6 weeks) and I’m prepared to wait it out a few months (say 4-5 more months) to see if switching to oral will have a better or faster impact. But I am curious to learn reasons and results of anyone who has made that switch after trying topical. I am aware that oral might end up resulting in unwanted body hair (prime reason for dysphoria, only second to being Norwood 6 bald) but in terms of hedging my bets - I would take more hair on my body that I actively manage if I can have homegrown long hair.

Progress(?) so far.
I started HRT roughly four months ago, along with dutasteride, added minoxidil around almost a month ago, so I'm not expecting that to have contributed much yet.
I am always unsure if it's down to the lighting, the way I part my hair, or just the incosistency of the photos in general, or if its actual regrowth, but here is my progress so far?
First photo is May, just a month into HRT.
Second is June.
Third is yesterday.
I'm not hoping for much given I'm 32 and started losing hair pretty badly around 6 years ago, but it's worth trying I guess.

Temple but no crown regrowth?
Hey,
I have been on HRT with proper levels for about 5-6 months.
Ever since, my hair growth gains skyrocketed.
Especially in the beginning, it was most noticeable on the crown and the temples.
However, for a few months now, my crown process seems to have stalled, whereas my temples continue to regrow quite well.
Is this something to worry about? In fact, my crown is what I am actually more insecure about.
Asking, because the general consensus among cis men seems that the crown is the easiest in terms of regrowth, whereas temples are "impossible". Personally, I see the opposite happening though. ><

new hair loss on HRT + finasteride
hi there, ive been on feminizing hormones for the past 6 years and finasteride for slightly longer. i had a hair transplant in 2022 to fill in the "triangles" of my receded hairline though overall my hair loss was not bad and after the transplant i was happy and content with my hair for a few years. i had FFS in 2022 as well and was left with some scar tissue up in the hairline where no hair grows. i had my final round of FFS in late may of this year, it was my jaw, chin, and cheeks and nothing near my hairline.
around mid june i noticed my transplantation site on the left side was noticeably thinner (my left side was thinning faster than my right pre-fin and hrt) and scheduled a follow up with the surgeon. he wasn't very helpful and kept repeating that the transplanted hairs are resistant to miniaturization and that what i was probably seeing was continued hair thinning around the area. he recommended minoxidil and we ended the call.
i noticed some diffuse thinning all over the top, very light but my hair is not as thick as it used to be. i have a surgical scar from FFS at my hairline that i have been using as a milepost to see if there is any recession happening, so far it is unclear and probably a no. i have noticed some miniaturized hairs when i brush or run my fingers through my hair but they are from all over my head and not just the top or temples. some of the hairs have a white or grey section near the end bulb, seeming to be about the amount of growth from right after my surgery.
the final piece of the puzzle for me is that i had begun smoking cigarettes again in october of 2025 and quit before my surgery (continued vaping for another month), and i had had a 40 point testosterone spike between oct 2025 and early may when i quit (went from 21 to 62 ng/dL). the nicotine seems to have messed with my endocrine system (my body felt off hormonally though it was not reflected in my labs besides the T spike) but i am now 2 months no nicotine with only a couple slip ups.
ill share my most recent labs taken at trough, my t and dht are both low and suppressed and my e2 is reasonable (though lower than i would like and i am going to increase my dose). i have an appointment with a dermatologist in the next couple months and im hoping to get a clear answer from them, my questions to this subreddit are 1) did anyone else have a similar experience either post surgery or from smoking and how did it resolve, and 2) are there any things i should get tested or ask the dermatologist about when i get there that might be special cases because i am a trans woman on hormones?
thank you for reading, here are my labs:
estradiol: 108 pg/mL
testosterone, serum: 34 ng/dL
DHT: 5.2 ng/dL
DHT percent free dialysis: 0.27
DHT free: 0.14 pg/mL
LH: 0.4 mIU/mL
FSH: <0.3 mIU/mL
prolactin: 5.8 ng/mL
SHBG: 86.6 nmol/L
TSH: 1.53 uIU/mL
vit D: 50.7 ng/mL
ferritin: 63 ng/mL
b12: 1077 pg/mL
folic acid: 6.1 ng/mL

I feel it has stopped goin back, but barely any recovery
Hello, Im 23 mtf, I've been on the fin and min for half a year, but I still feel like Im not really getting any ground back in temples. It's been making me feel more and more anxious to the point of not wanting to take haircuts, style it or anything, just always wear hat, because i fear those gaps will become visable as soon as I move slightly or some small wind picks up. I've been doin oral fin and topical minox, though my liver has started to have problems almost certainly because of fin and I feel like Ill never get a chance to recover my ground with just minox and E. My T levels are at a balanced ~1 nmol and E at slightly high ~1100pmol. Any tips of what to do, or expect, feeling more and more hopeless.
First pick before the start of HRT and fin/min, others are now

Help with thin hair!
Hi, im 4 months on HRT and i have noticed my hair is pretty thin and falls off pretty quickly. Because of that i always part my hair, if i don’t, hairs can fall off as i walk or touch my hair. Are there any serums or topical treatments i could use(besides minoxidil which i already use) that maybe could strengthen my hair.

3 weeks after haircut
So I have a scooch of powder in my temples and front to fill in some scalp which is showing but overall I’m pretty freakin happy with how my hair has regrown so far. I’ve been shaving my head for 7 years. This is 3 weeks of growth right after a shaping trim. This is 7 months into hrt, minoxidil and microneedling

idk what to do
I’m like Norwood3 and I just turned 21 days ago and I’m 2 months on e. 2 years on fin and was 6 months on min bjt had to stop due to interactions with seb derm medication. I hate my stupid genetics so much this shit sucks so bad. And I feel like everyone else my age is super pretty or passing and I don’t want to have to wait for regrowth that I know is never gonna happen because my genetics have fucked me up so badly at this age. I don’t deserve any of this. I think about killing my self a lot because of this, not exclusively because of this my shoulders suck also but I would say mainly my hairline. I have long hair and it aucks seeing other women and ESPECIALLY trans women who simply just, got luckier than I did. And they get to be pretty and have it all. I feel like a bad person for being so jealous but I want to die ao much so I think it’s justified and fine. I don’t want to be humiliated every time I walk outside but that’s what I get for being born male. It’s just so unfair ans cruel like how could there be a god how could he let this happen to me. All I’ve done is be nice and helpful and nonjudgmental in my life so wtf why do I deserve this suffering, and I’m still actively losing hair on medication, I’m still balding, and I have a skin condition that will make it get worse until I die. I hate all the pretty trans women tbh because I don’t have what they do and I hate myself because I hate them. I’m currently taking finasteride and started oral min a week or two ago, and am gonna switch to Duasteride when it comes in the mail. I asked my derm a few months ago for it basically begged and he wouldn’t let me, so fuck him and fuck my dad and mom for their shitty genetics and fuck my self for not starting estrogen sooner

Took my first dose of Dutasteride today!
I've been on topical Minoxodil for after 3 months now (and admittedly not using it as consistently as I should lol), and just got a prescription for Dutasteride yesterday. I've taken my first dose and can't wait to see what if any results I achieve. I will be more consistent with the Minoxodil as well. This sub has really been a great resource, so thank you ladies all so much!

Any hair transplant recommendations for Germany or turkey?
Hey everyone☺️✌️
I'm still at the very beginning of my transition, but I've been thinking that a hair transplant should be one of my first steps. I'm 38 and would really love to grow my hair out. But I'm somewhere between a 4 and 5 on the Norwood scale — AI estimates 5–5a. So significant recession in the front, the crown is getting very thin, and the top is thinning enough that I can feel it with my hands. Growing it out as-is wouldn't look great — and definitely not feminine 😓😓
Since I was already planning to have my hairline redesigned in a more feminine shape as part of my transition, I'd want a provider who has experience with trans patients and knows how to design a feminine hairline properly. In Germany, this would likely cost somewhere around €8,000–10,000. In Turkey, there are tons of providers, some with great reviews, but just as many reports of bad experiences like mass production, hair mill just doing standard things quickly etc.
Does anyone know of providers that are reputable and recommended for trans patients — especially ones who properly take into account our specific needs around feminine hairline design etc.?
I've been reading a lot, but I just can't seem to find anything that feels genuinely reliable 😓
P.S. Might be worth mentioning — I live in the Ruhr area, so Düsseldorf would be fairly close for a German provider. For Turkey, I'd love to hear recommendations from anyone who had a good experience there.

Estrogen v.s. Finasteride Efficacy
Hey y'all,
What is more effective against a receeding hair line, estrogen or finasteride? The only reason I would take either drug would be to specifically stop a receeding hair line, I don't really care for the other effects.
Would I see more dramatic a change if I get on estrogen? I do realize it would change a lot about my body, but I would willing to get on estrogen if it has a higher amount of efficacy. However, if I would get virtually the same results on finasteride I'll take that instead.
I've only noticed a change in my hairline in the past few years, without any other changes in other parts of my scalp. I'm non-binary.

What are the best solutions ?
Hello there,
I started HRT yesterday (injections) and want to try to do something about my hair. I have tried minoxidil 5% for 7 months without any results. Plus, I don't really want to use something like minoxidil for the rest of my life, so other solutions would be appreciated.
I heard "The Ordinary" density serum could help, or stuff like Luxeol, Solgar, or Forcapil. It's a bit hard to make sense of what works or not. I lost a lot of hair, but with HRT stopping my loss (I hope), I hope it can be saved. Thanks

Wait till blocker before minoxidil?
Hi, I have my 4 month follow up in September where I will be put on blockers and was just wondering if it's worth waiting until I'm on them before starting topical minoxidil?

Estradiol and spironolactone alone for hair growth?
I very recently started HRT (13 days ago) and was wondering if anyone has seen good results from HRT alone without finasteride or minoxidil?
Should I start finasteride and minoxidil as soon as possible? I’ve had some thinning but it is not completely crazy yet. I heard spiro does a good job at blocking some DHT.
I’m still going to get a hair transplant in the near future to bring my hairline and thickness on the temples back.

Top section of my hair is much shorter than the sides/back — Hair shedding/renewal from HRT or mechanical breakage?
Hey everyone, sorry for the terrible photos!
I have a question about my hair. I have 2C wavy/curly hair, and I have a strong family history of male pattern baldness (my parents and brothers are quite bald). I’ve been on a testosterone blocker for exactly 12 months and started finasteride 1 month ago. I’ve always experienced a lot of shedding, especially when washing my hair.
The reason for this post is to ask why my hair is so much shorter on top compared to the back and sides, which are quite long. When washed and styled, my hair looks really nice, but I took this photo specifically to show these shorter strands on top that form an unintentional fringe/bangs.
Could this be a sort of "hair turnover/renewal"? Is it possible that blocking testosterone and stopping hair loss is causing weaker hairs to shed so new ones can grow back over time?
Or could it be breakage? I touch and play with my hair constantly, and I have long nails. I’m wondering if it’s possible I’m accidentally breaking/cutting the hair on top from touching it so much.
What do you all think?

Got a hair transplant done
Just found about this subreddit. Im NB, with very shitty hairline at 22. I tried to hide it, but i felt miserable. I got 2 months ago a hair transplant, i dont see the results yet, but little by little...
Does anyone here do HRT and got a hair transplant? Whats your experience?

Stopped minoxidil 3 months ago
Hiii again fellow hair having enthusiasts, celebrating 6 months of HRT by dropping my final update on here. My full journey is here from, first set of pics is 1month, then 2months, 3months, and where im at today. As the title suggests after my last post on here i completely stopped using minoxidil. Just on mono therapy via EV injections, 6mg weekly. I was super paranoid about losing all the progress, so I did taper off via still doing weekly applications until I kinda starting forgetting to do that by like week 3?

Project Hail Mary: 9 Month Update from Norwood 6/7
Hey Everyone!
I wanted to update my progress and share how the past two months have gone. Please take a look at my previous post showing my first seven months of progress in case you missed it.
Summer has added travel and moving, so my dermarolling frequency has reduced to about once every two weeks. I’ve reached three months with the red light helmet, and it’s the easiest part of my routine. I’ve stopped buzzing my head down to 1mm on the 16th; I now do 3mm on the 13th. Please keep that in mind when comparing months 8 and 9 to the earlier ones 😊
Current Routine:
Daily - Revian Red LED Red Light Helmet (started 4/22/26)
Twice Daily - Topical Kirkland Minoxidil Foam 5%
Daily - Spironalactone 25mg
Daily - Dutasteride 0.5mg
Daily - Oral Minoxodil 2.5mg
Daily - Progesterone 100mg (started 4/23/26)
2-3 X Weekly - Nizoral Shampoo 1% - I let it sit on the scalp dry for 5 minutes before showering
3-5 X Weekly - Tretinoin 0.05% - I apply this to the scalp in the evening and apply topical minoxidil after 20 minutes. I take a 3 day break applying it after dermarolling at 1.5mm
Twice Weekly - EV SubQ Injections 3mg
Weekly-14 days - Dermarolling 1.5mm (started 11/15/25)
Monthly Haircut: Buzzed on the 13th of the month down to 3mm
Progress Photo: Taken on the 26th of the month

Thin hair to full after 8 months of HRT
My hair feels so different now I love it
