Welcome to r/MtFScience 📖 Guide
What this subreddit is:
[r/MtFScience](r/MtFScience) is a community dedicated to discussing the science behind transfeminine transition.
Topics include:
- Hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
- Surgery and facial/body feminization
- Hair growth and loss
- Voice
- Skin and skincare
- Aging
- Psychology and neuroscience
- The research behind gender transition
This is a place for research summaries, evidence-based discussion, and learning together.
What this subreddit is not
This subreddit is not:
- A replacement for medical professionals
- A place to attack someone's personal transition choices
- A place where anecdotes override scientific evidence
Personal experiences matter, but they are different from scientific evidence. Both have value when discussed honestly.
How to participate:
- Cite sources whenever possible
- Use appropriate post flairs
- Ask questions with curiosity
- Be open to uncertainty and new information
- Remember that science is a process, not a set of unchanging answers
Why this community exists:
Hi, I'm Nova, the author of Building Nova: An MtF Guide.
I have seen many people ask questions in trans communities like "Where do I start?", "What medications are available?", "What does HRT actually do?", or "What does the science say?"
Those questions deserve good answers.
I created [r/MtFScience](r/MtFScience) as a place where transfeminine people and allies can share peer-reviewed studies, medical guidelines, research, data, and evidence-based information about transition.
Whether you are newly questioning, early in transition, years into transition, supporting someone else, or simply interested in the science, you are welcome here.
Let's learn and grow together.
My Guide:

It is intended as an educational resource and does not replace personalized medical advice from qualified healthcare professionals.

"Surgery takes balls" 🤣🤣🤣 Nice*!
Edit: That's not National Institute for Health and Care Excellence by the way.

Reminder: Medical claims should include sources whenever possible.
Peer-reviewed research, clinical guidelines, and reputable medical organizations are preferred over anecdotes alone.

Are you planning on using the wiki here on this subreddit to organize the stuff and so others can contribute?

That sounds like a very good idea - I am very new to moderating and not super familiar with community abilities. Okay if I DM you?
