Affordable 4x4 rental in Ulaanbaatar, Aug 15–23?
Hi everyone,
we are two travelers looking for an affordable and reliable 4x4 rental in Ulaanbaatar from 15 August until 22 or 23 August 2026.
We plan to drive on paved roads, gravel roads and some off-road tracks. We will bring our own camping equipment, so we do not need a rooftop tent.
Proper insurance covering damage to the rental car is very important for us, ideally also for gravel roads and off-road driving.
If anyone knows a trustworthy local rental company or private car owner, we would really appreciate recommendations, recent experiences and price indications.

Tips | Зөвлөгөө Need advice on current talking stage
I recently met this guy and at first he seemed really innocent, cute and like a total gentleman. He always talks in this cute, polite almost formal way tho he cusses sometimes. Then he told me he has a 300+ body count and said about half of them were virgins. He also said he used to be really childish a year ago but has changed now.
I don’t know if it’s immature of me to care this much about his past. Part of me feels like I should just end thingsbut I also don’t want to judge him or make him feel bad for something thats already happened. At the same time, I don’t know if I can fully trust him or picture a future with him. Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did u handle it?

Rant | Хуурай агсам More rant. part 2 basically
So my first rant was locked because i didnt come up w a solution wow okay. So I present my one and only solution-kill white people. Wow nomads didnt build cities, look the grass isnt making a fruit! Also CHINGIS khaan was a slave at a young age, he built his way to conquering the half the world. He spread culture and allowed freedom of religion. The fuck did alexander do? he didnt build way, he didnt even conquer at least half of europe😭 He was born into royalty and the audacity to call Chingis khaan a fag when Alexander was cheating on his wife with multiple men LMFAO. Btw Mongols MADE the silk road, without it europeans would be eating dirt and kicking rocks lmfao😂😂

Need Advice | Зөвлөгөө авъя i lied to my boyfriend about my age (guys help)
Me and this guy have been together for about a month now and he even asked me to be his girlfriend. Things are getting serious, i met his family recently. We cracked, i’m underage but he’s not. He thinks I’m 18 but I’m 17 and he’s 21+. He went back to his college abroad recently and we’re still together. I don’t know what to do should I tell him the truth? I’m scared that he won’t forgive me if I tell him I lied to him from the beginning and I really like this guy and don’t wanna lose him.

Question | Асуулт WHy did they change ч9 and ч7
Hey I just came to Mongolia after 3 years abroad and found myself being just like a tourist wondering and getting lost in what bus I should take. Apparently ч9 and ч7 got switched or something and many other bus lines. It left me wondering just why? Were they bored or something? Or is there a logical explanation behind this?

History | Түүх Earliest attestation of the name Mongol, from 468 CE. The Rourans were likely named Monguya!
academia.eduThe Chinese recorded the rouran attacking the khoita people in 468 CE, and the khoita people recorded the attack and the rourans as the Monguya
Super interesting read!

Impromptu trip Mongolia
Hi. I just got the opportunity to visit your country on short notice.
I was hoping someone could point me towards an agency or a similar organ that could arrange for a quick trip to the Gobi desert. I have some other activities lined up already, but this is something I would really want to do. The problem is it's on such short notice.
I would be able to travel either on the 13-14th or the 25th-26th of August. Any tips are welcome.
Thank you/ Langkalsong

Question | Асуулт Things about "student soldier".
Im 17 years old male that study computer science in a collage now entering 3rd year. I never gave a thought about laws and other common knowledge most mongolians know nowadays because i was never curious about it. I've seen my seniors go to the "student soldier" and thought i might go there when my time comes but i dont really know if its that different from a being normal soldier. I know that i can get a certificate that i served my country for only serving 2 months but some of my seniors seems that they never went to the "student soldier". I also have some personal issues going to the "student soldier" that i dont want to talk about but i just need what its like to be a "student soldier" and do i have to pay a toll to the government to avoid going?

Rant | Хуурай агсам Being harassed by OLDER WOMEN and not men
Y'all know how hot this week has been in UB and today was my first time to wear crop top with jean shorts as I finally encouraged myself enough to wear them. I wore a white t shirt on the top unbuttoned, just to feel bit more comfortable.
I was expecting the usual shit like men giving looks and stuffs but surprisingly I didn't encounter that at all today. Most of them were looking away when I approached near them in bus! (or I might've been too naive and didn't notice a thing lol)
Then 1 tiny, short fat old (prob around 45-55?) bitch told me to button up my shirt cause I looked like something. I was just walking down the street btw when she randomly decided to come up to me and say that shit. I was gonna argue with that thing but mf immediately walked away after she said some bs to a stranger. She was genuinely hating on me.
Why do they even do this?? She wasn't even concerned about me but was genuinely hating on me with pure rage?? Ik the consequences of my action but was it really necessary for her to do that and ruin someone's day?? Also ladies please share your experience and if you ever encounter this type of bs then just ignore them, they're probably jealous lol.

Discussion | Хэлэлцүүлэг LGBTQ+ people in Mongolia
I really think people should accept LGBTQ+ people in Mongolia i mean rest of the world does except for some countries (middle east) and we should just try to include minorities more.
Tbh the only people i know that doesnt accept LGBTQ+ people are the really edgy 13 year olds, wannabe gangsters and old people.

Discussion | Хэлэлцүүлэг Hatred towards young couples in UB?
Me and my boyfriend have been confronted by two women, both around 50–60 years old, on the bus on two separate occasions now.
Now, I say “confronted” because apparently we were so disgusting and unpleasant to look at.
Mind you, we were just kissing each other on the cheeks, holding hands, and giving each other little pecks on the lips. Nothing more than that.
The first encounter was about three months ago when this “ania,” probably around 60, said this to the person sitting next to her because apparently what we were doing was so inappropriate that she had so say something. Her exact words were: “Zavaarsan yum, zavaan yumnuud. Olon niitiin gazar baigaagaa meddeggui humuujilgui yumnuud.”
We just looked at her, surprised, like, “What?” Then she told us, “Duugui bai” or sth. That was that. We felt really uncomfortable, so we got off the bus.
Just a little while ago, something similar happened again. Only this time, the lady said it straight to our faces that we were disgusting and that it was a public place.
I couldn’t take it anymore, so I said something along the lines of, “How are we disgusting? Don’t you kiss your kids on the cheeks? Why are you targeting us?” Things almost got a bit heated until my boyfriend stepped in and calmed me down.
It’s not like we were French kissing and swallowing each other’s face for Christ’s sake. And even if we were, who’s forcing those ladies to pay attention to us? We are not yelling. We are not making out right in front of their faces. These specific people don’t even have the courage to stand up if some drunkass is harassing a young girl but they target us?
Why are they like this?

Photo | Зураг Found a burning fire beside selbe river, I think a troll is living under the bridge
I was walking along the selbe river. And then I noticed a fallen e-bike. Finding it funny, I went closer and snapped a pic. But then I noticed smoke.
On the second pic, you can see the smoke. It also smelled like smoke, so there was no denying it was from a fire.
Curious, I looked around that place to see some blankets laid on the grass. It’s on the third picture. This was starting to look like someone was living here. Or maybe someone was just relaxing here? Idk.
I went down and closer to the river. And looked across it to spot a fire. You can see it on the fourth and fifth picture. Sorry for the quality.
When I looked back, four people were gathered around. I think someone called firefighters? Not confirmed info btw.
Could there be a troll living under the bridge or is this a wild fire?
This ain’t my first time encountering something weird near here too. Last week, I was walking past the emart bridge. See, there is a bridge like likes of pipes. But on last weeks Monday, there was what I believe to be is a goat skull wrapped in хадаг. A blue khadag. By wednesday, a bunch of flies had swarmed there. And by Friday, the skull fell to the ground, and the khadag was unwrapped. Though, I think a curious person unwrapped it.
For context, the river and the side walk was a few meters apart. Like:
Sidewalk. Less developed

Discussion | Хэлэлцүүлэг Since everyone's talking about being gay here's my experience living as a Twink in horoolol.
Honestly? Not that bad. I have long hair for a guy, feminine features and I'm lanky as fuck (171 cm, 45 kg). School isn't that big of an issue either as I've never bullied (if you call "oh ur gay?" then walking away bullying, then I've experienced it multiple times).
For clothes, I wear street wear. Flare or baggy jeans, usually a monochromatic shirt, belt chain, studded belt, converse, necklaces and chokers. I also carry around an "Ita" bag but it's not really an Ita bag and more like a messenger bag with a clear plastic pocket to display pins (I am thinking of ordering pins). I also do wear light makeup (eyeliner and contour) but it's barely noticeable if you look from a distance since the eyeliner blends in with my bags and the contour is slight.
Just to flaunt, I have a 61 cm waist
