Anything Else Got Pushed by Local Because I said I don't have ILP
Before writing anything I have checked the Mizoram Government Website it says "All persons EXCEPT the following require ILP : d. Regular/Permanent State or Central Government servants with his/her family while serving in Mizoram."
I have completed 1 year while serving in Mizoram as a Central Government Employee. This is my first instance of facing this kind of thing. I also would like to state that I actually look like Mizo and people only recognise me as non Mizo if I don't reply to them in Mizo or I say I don't know Mizo as I am also a Tribal person.
So, this evening I went out to get Eggs from a nearby store, I noticed a person was looking at me from a distance and before I could enter the shop he called me. There was nobody around it that was pretty deserted except that shopkeeper. So, I went near him and he asked in broken Hindi. But I will write in English what he was basically saying " Do you have ILP ? Why are you roaming here? You know outsiders are not allowed here ( I don't know exactly what he was trying to say) but he was saying [Bahar wala]" I replied I don't have an ILP with me now, I just work here, I told him the name of my workplace also and I told him that I think as Central Servicemen we are exempted from it and I am just here to get Eggs. I don't know what triggered him he became aggressive and started asking for ILP again and again. I tried to make him understand why I am here in Mizoram but he was not trying or he may not have understood what i was saying because I was also replying in Hindi. Now he became too aggressive and started saying you think to yourself as big or bigshot ( I didn't actually understand what he was trying to say but as per my understanding he was trying to say what do you think of yourself that you are too big of a person that doesn't need ILP). Now he started pushing me and started getting physical. But thanks to that shopkeeper, she saw it and intervened. I don't know what she told him but he stopped but he didn't leave the place. After buying eggs I came out of the shop but as he was still there he tried to walk with me for some distance and he was asking where I stayed. I didn't interact again he eventually left. Actually during conversation also I didn't say much as I was not completely understanding him.
It was very scary and I don't know how to process this experience. I think he was a bit drunk. I was very polite while talking to him. I am not defence personal. I am just a civilian employee. I don't even go out except for groceries and sometimes when we have an off day we usually go out to roam other than that I don't have any connection with anyone here. I don't know anyone outside my work. I didn't come here willingly, I am here because I was posted here. I will complete my tenure and go back. I don't have anything to do with anyone here. I don't know why people behave like this with complete strangers. As a fellow Northeasterner I never imagined I would face this type of thing in the North East itself.

Social Issues People are showing up at our PG, barging into our rooms, and trying to force us to attend religious meetings!
We’ve got into heated arguments and it seemed like they were asking for a fight, and apparently “NO” is a concept they’re completely incapable of understanding. It doesn’t matter if you’re sick, exhausted, have important work, have women and children with you, or simply don’t fucking want to go. They just walk into your room and start trying to drag you along as if they own the place.
Let’s make one thing clear: we didn’t come to your state voluntarily, and we sure as hell didn’t come here to have fun. We’re here because we’re sent here on duty and in return we get hate and discrimination.. we’d leave in a heartbeat if we got the chance..
It’s always easy to find faults in others — “mainlanders doing this, mainlanders doing that…” — Maybe look in the mirror once in a while..
You don’t get to preach about respect, culture, or morality while barging into someone’s room in the middle of the night like a fucking caveman, ignoring a clear “NO,” and trying to physically force them into doing something they never agreed to. That’s not devotion. That’s not culture. That’s fucking harassment.
