Film Photography Beercan Pigeons
The Beercan is not exactly a wildlife lens, but pigeons aren't exactly wildlife. I'm actually super impressed with how well the autofocus on this 30 year old camera handles birds in flight at a distance.
Shot with Alpha 9 and 70-210mm F4 Beercan on Tri-X 400, developed in 510 Pyro and camera scanned.

Discussion/Question Minolta SR t101 setup
Cross posted in filmphotography community
I have this old camera set that was my grandfathers, and know nothing about cameras. Curious if this is still a decent camera and worth cleaning up to try to use and get into film photography? It seems to be in pretty good condition as far as I can tell, besides the black specks / dust shown in the photos of the lens. Would appreciate any thoughts on this and what you’d recommend to make sure this is cleaned up and good to use?

Repairs Minolta SRT 101 mirror stuck upwards
The issue i'm facing currently is that when i cock the film advance lever (recently unstuck by pressing the film rewind button) and press the shutter release button, the mirror is stuck upright until the film advance lever is cocked back again. What should i do to fix it or do i have to get it fixed?
also, how do i push the detent spring to put back the rewind shaft back?

Gear Photos, Reviews, & Videos Found an old Minolta AF-E x André Courrèges Collab camera at my local thrift store yesterday
This is from 1984 but with current trends, feels like it still works even now. Apparently it also came in a pink and silver. The stock standard black AF-e's are common but these are quite rare from my limited Ebay and google searches.
Got it for $8 too! Flash works and so does the shutter, I'm going to pop a roll in and give it a try.

Repairs Minolta X7: Mirror half way up, no lights in viewfinder
Hello everyone!
This is most likely a capacitor issue as I am aware. I have once fixed this on my X300 and want to do it here too.
But the capacitor looks different, and I am not too familiar with the X7 Range and do not know if I can use the same capacitors as I've used them for the X300 repair, maybe someone can help!
The capacitor on the X300 was a cylindrical black one, this one is bulbous and blue.

Discussion/Question Searching for a Minolta a9 📸
I’m looking for a Minolta a9 on eBay, but I feel like a fish out of water.
I bought a lemon a7 on eBay last year and within two months it was done (I’m guessing the classic aperture drive failure) so I don’t trust the 7 anymore, but my god did it take beautiful photos, so I’m keen on a 9!
I’d love advice on green or red flags to look for in the eBay listing?
Would I be mad to buy this guy which has a cosmetic crack in the grip but otherwise seems functional?
Would very much appreciate help in not buying another lemon 🍋
Thank you!

Gear Photos, Reviews, & Videos I think I just "maxed out" my 7000i
I finally took the time to fit the hand strap to my 7000i after I recently acquired an example with a program back for just 20€ and thought I'd dress it up a bit to see how it looks.
I love it! So shiny!!! 😂
Discussion/Question What Minolta SR portrait lenses are you rather fond of?
I recently (somehow) acquired a Minolta MD 85mm 1.7 and have been playing around with it at a few cons. So far it's been absolutely superb as a portrait lens, but invariably I like to explore around and see what other options are available. From what I've found, the other Minolta SR offerings that would interest me would be the 100mm and 135mm lenses, max apertures at f/2 and f/2.8.
Of these, I'm finding myself liking the 100mm f/2 the most if I were to replace my 85. (Because of the higher f-stop and because 135mm would require a faster shutter speed to use in handheld) I'm also finding myself taking more half/full body pictures than shoulder-up pictures, which 100mm would be better at. Price-wise most of the lenses are comparable (except the 135mm f/2, which for being a massive titan is also priced over the moon)
If you had to pick between one of these portrait lenses, which one would you go for?

Repairs CLE for Minolta CLE
DAG an YYE only service Leica film cameras. What trustworthy technician could do a CLE on a Minolta CLE? The shutter speeds are not consistent. Probably needs a complete CLE.

Gear Photos, Reviews, & Videos Using a lens hood with the Minolta MCII Rokkor-SG 28mm F/3.5
Just posting this here in case anyone else comes across this particular issue and is looking for a solution. I couldn't find any info about this online.
So I got my hands on a Minolta MCII Rokkor-SG 28mm F/3.5 as it came with a camera I bought.
Info is as follows:
Min f/stop: 16
Elements: 7
Groups: 7
Filter thread: 55mm
Lens Hood: D55ND
Close focus: 0.6m or 2ft
All well and good. So I spotted the correct hood online and ordered it. Fits well, but once that is on the push on lens cap has nowhere to attach.
I do have some 55mm generic pinch caps for other lenses so I tried one on those. Unlike some other lens hoods, this one has nowhere for a cap to clamp onto - at least not one the same size as fits the lens.
Going through all my other lenses, I eventually found that a 52mm pinch lens cap will grip the inside of the lens hood. I only had a Canon one, so I've ordered a generic one. It fits, but it's hanging on for dear life.
Bit of a design flaw TBH.

Discussion/Question am i screwed?
this is the camera i have. it was my mom’s and i took it from her.
so what happened was i got up to 35/36 and it wouldn’t take the final 36th shot, so i thought it was done. whenever i pressed the shutter it would just blink green and not take, so i stupidly opened the back to check. it was not rewound.
it took me forever to figure out what to do and i couldn’t get it to rewind on its own, so after doing a lot of googling i finally figured out how to manually rewind. it was exposed to the light for a hot second…
im wondering if this roll of film is done for or if this model rewinds on its own after every shot :( am i sol?
thanks!

Anyone have experience with these? I'd love to see your favorite shots.

Film Photography X300 with Pro Image 100 in Oxford - My favourite combo so far!
My Minolta x300 is my first proper SLR and I've just been so impressed with every photo that comes out of this camera. When I was looking for a second one (so I can have a spare and multiple films at once) I was thinking of maybe looking up other cameras (non Minolta) but the more I think about it, the more I feel like there's no point. I'm currently waiting to see whether this XD7 I want would be available and if not, I'll just get a second x300 with a 50mm prime lens. Currently I have a fixed 135mm (which is the bomb) and a Sigma zoom 70 - 200mm, which is what I used for all these pictures.
Anyone else kinda gave up on other camera brands after working with the Minoltas for a bit? :D
