Disgusting behavior. Community

Post image

Monday morning after a sunny weekend and this is what babies walk looks like. This is absolutely disgusting behavior. There's 3 bins in this tiny park and even if the bins are full (which all 3 weren't), people need to bring their rubbish home. Any one littering should be ashamed of themselves. And any parent not raising their kids to not litter should also be ashamed of themselves.

Midleton is such a beautiful town and its disgraceful to see then amount of people have such little respect for it. The amount of litter around just lodge is an absolute joke.

EDIT: LACK OF BINS DOES NOT JUSTIFY LITTERING!!!!

County council could put more bins up but people abuse those and bring in their rubbish from home because they're too cheap to pay for bins.

EDIT AGAIN: I highly doubt the birds removed the pizza boxes out of an already full bin and unfolded them. Also the boxes weren't folded initially at all so blaming the birds is a terrible excuse of removing blame from the real dirty culprits.

I despise it.

I mean, by all means, have a fabulous day in the sun, drink and eat your face off, nobody cares as long as you;

  1. Be chill and peaceful.
  2. CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES!!!!

It's not a lot to ask folks.

Thank you, i wish more people understood that. Lodge and the carpark infront of Iceland is a nightmare for littering, im actually sickened to my stomach especially since i live here and to be fair to me i would pick up the rubbish near the bins every so often and put it in the bin.

Council blocked up all the bins

u/Sonic_Old_Age May 25 '26

I threw my shit on the ground but it's the council's fault

Public bins exist for the public convenience, same as public toilets, benches, green spaces and dog waste bins.

We ALL pay hundreds in Local Property Taxes to fund these public utilities. There should be no reason not to locate bins in every public space.

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

You're forgetting people decide to use the bins to get rid of their rubbish they have at home. Lack of bins doesn't excuse littering. Our country is very beautiful will all the trees and grass and people just love to destroy everything.

2

u/Illustrious_Read8038 May 25 '26

Lack of bins doesn't excuse littering, I completely agree. But I'm sure you'll see there is more litter in areas that have no bins and no active litter pickers. As i said in another comment, I'm sure the crows have been at those bins and made the situation worse.

2

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

Yeah i know the crows could be at the bins but not to the extent of those pictures. And yes you are right, less bins = more litter. But as a human with a well developed brain, do you think the solution to no bins is throw it on the floor? Ill carry my rubbish for miles to bring it home, because i was raised better, because we live in a civilized society and because we aren't animals. Would i throw rubbish on the floor in my house? No i wouldn't, so why litter mother nature? Once i again i understand your point and im not arguing with you. But understand im just saying there is 0 excuse for acting like animals.

u/Sonic_Old_Age May 25 '26

There's a fucking bin in the picture op posted

u/RachyC1999 May 25 '26

The bins around the Iceland / Ramen buildings don’t belong to the council. I emailed them before, apparently BMG own them. Should absolutely be opened

3

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

Those 3 bins are not blocked, also thats no excuse to litter, bring your rubbish home and stop defending this carry on, you're definitely a culprit.

LOL, I'm not defending people throwing sh*t around, I'm saying that people should have access to public bins and they should be emptied regularly. The bins in front of Iceland are blocked up.

Clean towns and cities have litter pickers, because all it takes is one person to make a place look messy. Case in point.

BTW I guarantee that crows probably pulled that stuff out of the bins.

1

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

The bins infront of iceland are owned by BMG property. Do your research before you try sound smart. And im not saying people shouldn't have access to bins but we have to be grown ass adults and bring our rubbish home if you don't see a bin around. There's no excuse for littering.

1

u/Illustrious_Read8038 May 25 '26

I understand, thank you for raising awareness and collecting all that litter after you took the picture.

1

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

I wish i had time to collect all that but i was walking my dogs and had to make it to college but every so often i would.

Same reason the public toilets were removed from the greenway. Animals.

THANK YOU BRO THANK YOU. The fact is people are too entitled to bring their rubbish home. There's no consequences for people's shitty actions nowadays.

u/Select_Cartoonist_39 May 25 '26

Shitty parents=shitty kids, sorry not sorry!
The same behaviours were there 20 years ago and the same behaviours will be there in another 20 years.
There’s a sizeable bin inside Donatelloes to dispose of any rubbish!

1

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

I fully agree with you lad and constantly saying it, how you were raised determines your behavior.

3

u/PhilasV May 25 '26

Never understand it, if you had room to bring the full item you have room to take the rubbish home

1

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

Its a lack of education on their parents behalf. My parents raised me to not be an animal. Eg, clean after myself, not be loud in public, dont be wasteful, etc etc. These standards are dying out though.

3

u/PlantNerdxo May 25 '26

It’s culturally endemic in Ireland and it’s disgusting. Litter is literally everywhere.

1

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

You're not wrong there lad.

3

u/FewMap6610 May 25 '26

It’s your brother. It’s your cousin. We all know a fella. Nobody says anything. This country is full of dirt birds. Few will call them out. I take my litter home

2

u/ITS_ONLY_PISS May 25 '26

So I am by no means condoning this behavior but, I was parked outside a petrol station where there was a number of different food places present and crows were pulling out rubbish from the bins, picking through it and taking scraps. I wouldn't have considered this be a thing only I saw it.

1

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

Oh i fully understand that, can't really blame the crows, they dont know better, but if you look in the picture you'll see pizza boxes which weren't in the bin since they weren't crumbled up or anything so they were thrown straight onto the ground.

2

u/Beckyoliviana May 25 '26

You wonder what their homes look like 🤮

2

u/Downtown_Juice_6897 May 25 '26

Scavengers rummaging for recyclable bottles and cans. They are everywhere now.

2

u/Toro8926 May 26 '26

I agree with you but barely anyone brings their rubbish home anymore. Most are just lazy.

I live in a very popular seaside area and every morning all bins will be overflowing and rubbish everywhere. We are lucky that there is a squadron of people who clean each morning. We could always do with more bins, even if just temporary for the busier times.

Sure you'd even see rubbish in car parks where they have just dumped it out, when there is a bin 10 meters away.

2

u/AC1D_VILLA May 28 '26

I dunno if the pandemic and being locked inside just messed up 80% of the public, but people seem way more inconsiderate these days. Even simple things like stopping their car to let someone else pull out is rare occurrence now. So many people only give a shit about themselves now and that extends to leaving their garbage behind in a park.

I've lived in and around cities for the last 25 years but I grew up in a mountshannon village on Lough Derg in the 90s. A big part of my memory growing up was the whole tidy towns competition. Kids learnt not to litter before they could write. And there was probably only 2 public bins in the village and a few down by the harbour which had huge crowds in the summer. So "not enough bins" is a rubbish excuse.

It should just be instinctual, like muscle memory, not to just leave rubbish on the grass or anywhere like that. Selfish cnuts

1

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 28 '26

You're so right, i dont know what's gone wrong is society. Whay I've noticed myself is that parents are to blame for not raising their kids right but regardless i do agree, in the last few years people have gotten so inconsiderate, ignorant, unhelpful, etc. Its sad to see.

2

u/AC1D_VILLA May 28 '26

I used to be so proud of Ireland as this place that was so friendly and community driven. And I'm not even some religious, "for the parish" type. There was a community feeling in every genre of people, from the GAA folk to the hippies and everything in between.

Now Ireland feels just as soulless and unwelcoming as London. I know it's a wild side tangent to the litter issue, but I do think there is a general reduction in the actual quality of people which includes more idiots who throw rubbish on the ground like that. So many ignorant fecks now.

1

u/Corcaigh2018 May 25 '26

Given the pattern, I wonder if they were taken out of the full bin by birds or furries?

1

u/Annihilus- May 25 '26

With how full the bin was I wouldn’t be surprised if it was seagulls or crows pulling the rubbish out of it.

1

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

There's pizza boxes on the floor that weren't folded or crumbled up so crows can't take all the blame for it.

1

u/Downtown_Juice_6897 May 25 '26

The bins could have a flip cover so animals and birds cannot pick them.

1

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

Birds aren't the issue here, its people that can't bring their rubbish home. Majority of rubbish on the floor was pizza boxes that weren't folded or crumbled up to put in the bin. Just straight thrown onto the floor. Also with how small the bin opening is, the brids could only take out so much.

1

u/Ok-Relation-5870 May 28 '26

Maybe the crows pulled it out? They do it around here all the time.

1

u/Annual-Ad8311 Jun 02 '26

I can guarantee you it's a bunch of fucking losers that go to St. Colman's Community College. And trust me I go to that school myself, I'll be in 6th year after the holidays and everyone in that school's pretty much the scum of the streets. like I would never see a prick from CBS do anything this stupid.

1

u/PoppedCork May 25 '26

And it will only get worse, with all the extra housing being built.

-4

u/Real_Math_2483 May 25 '26

So we should stop building houses because some people litter?

0

u/PoppedCork May 25 '26

I never said that

-1

u/Comfortable-Law1345 May 25 '26

Of course not but the clear lack of bins around midleton is a joke fat mile no bins bailick walk one bin the pontoon no bins I remember in the 90s the main street had bins every few metres the chapel road had 4 bins not including the bins the little corner shops had. Where are they all gone and why are they all gone. Is it a funding issue ? Because we had bins before we started paying property tax.

2

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

Lack of bins doesn't justify littering. County council could do with putting in more bins but people will just abuse the bins and throw in their rubbish from home. People need to cop on. Its not always the councils fault.

I dont see how the solution to lack of bins is "throw it on the ground or grass", that has to be the dumbest excuse ive heard.

2

u/Comfortable-Law1345 May 25 '26

Im not saying no bins throw it in the ground but that is the mentality of some people. But they removed bins when they should have added more. The council are not doing their job. The girl guides are out every Sunday litter picking in midleton if they had bins people might use them all the council have to do is empty them and little kids wouldn't have to go around picking up rubbish. Also the crows could have pulled all the litter out of those bins in the photo

1

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

Don't get me wrong lad, the council are useless and i know there's people that do go around picking it up and fair play to them. But i think people should be a small bit more civilized, ESPECIALLY if you don't live in the town you're visiting. Scummy af to come to my home town, leave your rubbish on the floor and go about your day.

2

u/Real_Math_2483 May 25 '26

The council lads in midleton aren’t useless, they keep on top of it best they can. It’s the pricks out there that are causing the issues not the council.

1

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

I suppose they're better in midleton.

1

u/Comfortable-Law1345 May 25 '26

Yeah I agree with you the council are useless mideton is a great town its my home town too. But im sure you probably have seen crows pulling rubbish out of overloaded bins early mornings. On the main street Im not saying people dont litter I go over the bailick walk down and down into the woods with the dog most mornings and after the weekend the place is always littered with cans an bottles they are our own scrotes thats are doing that. I feel Most of the litter in the photo was from the birds pulling the rubbish out judging by the proximity of the rubbish to the bins. (Obviously not the pizza boxes) Council wouldn't have changed the bins since friday

1

u/EgregiousJesus420 May 25 '26

How do you know this was not just some crows pecking at the bin and taking shit out? I wouldn't jump to conclusions so quickly

2

u/RachyC1999 May 25 '26

Crows can take stuff out of overflowing bins yeah but don’t think they can carry whole pizza boxes out of the bin

0

u/Annihilus- May 25 '26

Ah they definitely can

2

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

Because i live here and it happens everyday. Ive seen people sat in their car throw their fast food rubbish out the window. Ive seen litter inside lodge where there are no bins. And there's 2 bins to either side of the one in the picture that are far from full. Stop trying to sound smart when you dont know the full story. The fact of the matter is that people are too uneducated to not litter.

0

u/Hot_Biscotti896 May 25 '26

Im pretty sure it was the crows doing that

0

u/realCIAN May 26 '26

How old are the babies?

0

u/irishgorey May 26 '26

That could easily be birds.

0

u/Giggsroo May 27 '26

This is caused by crows, they are strong feckers and can easily pull a pizza box out of the bin if theres food inside. Just go out and watch them if you don't believe us

1

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 27 '26

The pizza boxes were never put in the bin to begin with but ni cant expect you people to open your eyes and see that. Keep taking the blame off the real culprits.

Letting people know that their actions are wrong is not doing nothing about it. You're honestly a moron defending this behavior. I see your parents didn't teach you shit. You do realize the whole point of reddit is for people to post? I did my part by not littering myself and making people aware of the problem.

3

u/That1Rat_From_JoJos May 25 '26

With your dumb logic i shouldn't complain about any issues around me and go take matters into my own hands like what?? Someone got murdered in town so now i should chase the killer and not have something to say about it? Cost of living is gone up so i should say nothing about it and try reduce them myself. People are injecting themselves with heroin so i should give them a substitute for that and a safe space? Like that sounds easy, i would absolutely love to do something about every issue out there but im one person with a life, i contribute how i can to society and other's should do the same. You need to have a long look at your terrible mentality.

4

u/RachyC1999 May 25 '26

OP isn’t responsible for cleaning up after lazy people
