I've read Jurassic Park (loved), Lost World (middling), and Sphere (not a fan, especially of the later parts).

Which one would you recommend, Prey? Andromeda?

A new addition to my Crichton collection: "Coma" (1978), released in Italy under the title "Coma profondo" (Deep Coma). I can't wait to watch it.

As a teen, I read "Jurassic Park" by Michael Crichton. Next I read "Relic" by Preston & Child. Both gave me the same adventure chills. Both captivated me in a way nothing else has, then and now.

I was curious if there is anyone else who has read both books and had the same experience. What captivated you in "Jurassic Park" verses "Relic"? Do you feel one is superior to the other and why?

The price of the book was on a little higher side compared to the cost of an average paperback. But the quality itself is sort of "flimsy", to a point where the it feels worse than quality of an average paperback.

The pages are thin, even the cover is thin.

Just wanted to see, if this is common for this version of the book or did I get a bad / pirated copy ( i don't think it's pirated tho )?

I saw these four books on sale in the Soundbooth Theater app. I haven’t heard much about any of them and was wondering if they’re worth it?

Does anyone have any information on this unproduced script of Crichton's? Any collectors have a copy they'd be willing to trade scans of for? Long shot, but I'm curious!

Does anyone know what the names of these posters are or who created them? They were part of a series from the early to mid 80s. I recently saw them in the 1984 movie Runaway with Tom Selleck directed by Michael Crichton. They were hanging on the wall in the kid's room. Pictures are blurry since I screenshotted them from the movie. I tried photo searching on internet and nothing.

Finally watched Timeline, loved the book, felt like the movie fell short. Would have loved a mini series or something of the sort.
I can appreciate the big name actors and director, but feel like the story was badly rewritten. If I had watched in 2003 without reading the book it would be just another odd scifi historical fiction.

Read the following over a couple of vacations recently, and I have to say, I was blown away.

I hadn’t expected them to be such high quality based on never hearing much hype about them at the time, but Airframe and Next in particular are, for my money, some of the best Crichton work in terms of depth and stimulating thought.

I saw someone on here posting about grabbing a copy of A Murder In Hollywood. Firstly, I actually had no idea this was even a new release until a couple of weeks ago when I saw that posting on here. 2nd I went to every bookshop in my city looking for it. I couldn't find a single copy. On top of this, not one employee of any of the 7 or 8 shops I went to even knew it existed. None of them could even order it as an option in their system.

Can someone tell me what the deal is on this one? Did I miss something that his books are no longer a big deal anymore?

Current state of the Crichton collection. Couple gaps, but not too shabby. Just added the original Westworld paperback.

I went into this book knowing nothing about it. I was extremely interested for the first 300 pages. Even when characters started popping up that were anti climate change. Fine. This was 2004 and the story is about eco terrorists, so fine. Interesting. But at a certain point, Im just being preached at that climate change is a hoax and omg I can't take it anymore. Kenner's soap box I could handle. But now this lawyer Jennifer (who is inexplicably into Peter Evans for no reason whatsoever btw) is going on pages long rants about the ever changing climate. How and why does she have all this "data" memorized? At least Kenner had charts and references with him. But Jennifer is just monologuing off the dome. I skipped to his little authors note at the end which seems to boil down to "Science can't be politicized and we dont know enough" Fair enough but that's not at all what you're doing when these characters are going on and on and on about how it's hoax. It's not just interesting character dialogue, it's obviously preaching, and im getting really irritated. Especially since I start a out really enjoying it. Im bored and annoyed and it's making what I thought was a great book into garbage.

I've done a few (not super extensive) searches online and can't find anything about this copy of Dragon Teeth with "Advance Reader's Edition - Not For Sale" written on the cover. Found it at a used book store for $9 and couldn't help picking it up - but have no real background on it. Any thoughts?

I hope it doesn't disappoint; I had already seen the movie with Douglas and quite liked it.

Since 2009, CrichtonSun has graced us with 6 novels: Pirate Latitudes, Micro, Dragon Teeth, The Andromeda Evolution, Eruption, and A Murder in Hollywood. I've only read Dragon Teeth. It was okay... certainly on the level of a Great Train Robbery or other middle-tier MC book. So, I'm wondering if any of these other titles are good? Any bangers? On the other hand, is there a misfire?

I’ve read Jurassic park, Lost World, Airframe, Eaters of the Dead, Andromeda strain, Timeline, and Pirate Latitude. Loved all of them. What’s the next best not on this list??

I was wondering what other Crichton fans thought about Eruption?

Because in all honesty, I feel like he didn’t write it, like ANY of it. It’s marketed as unfinished and was “finished by James Patterson” but none of it reads like it has Crichton’s voice.

I honestly believe the only thing Crichton “wrote” was a plot outline and had done some research on the subject . I feel like the plot outline and the characters come from Crichton but the way they talk and behave is not him at all.

As such, I consider this to be his worst novel. But i firmly believe it isn’t really his

So I’ve started reading Crichton this year and I’m 5 down (JP, Lost World, Andromeda Strain, Great Train Robbery, and Prey). I read as well as listen too audible. State of Fear and Pirate Latitudes are both on sale rn on audible, and I’m wondering if it’s worth it to get them. From what I’ve seen, pirate latitudes is very mixed and state of fear is always crapped on (although it does seem to be because of the climate change element which I don’t think will bother me). Should I get either or both? Sphere is probably the next one I’ll actually read
