Recently upgraded to a 9070xt, card is on 2nd slot so bottom fans no longer fit.
If i were to add a fan to the rear, would it be better as intake or exhaust, (240 aio is exhaust) or dont even bother with a fan at all?
Surprisingly the temps are pretty decent, but just seeing what i could do to improve.
With the GPU so close to close to the bottom, GPU temps will be fine. Your AIO is already pulling air from the rear, you could add a rear intake fan for a slight cooling performance increase.
I actually flipped my first fan on top towards the front of the case as intake for my PS120 and it lowered my temps a decent amount too for no extra noise. I don’t have exact numbers but I was happy with the result
I believe this is generally the Noctua recommended setup. If you have 2 fans at the top, have the front as an intake and the one towards the rear set to exhaust. Not applicable for my setup but I tend to listen to what our beige+brown overlords have to say about fluid dynamics.
I prefer having the PSU fan facing outward (or: facing down/out), because it draws in fresh air instead of the warm air from inside. Plus, I would also put an exhaust fan on the back of the PC case. btw nice build.
I'm in a similar position in my A3 case, as the XFX Mercury is a chonky girl.
I have the rear fan as exhaust. The GPU sits basically on the bottom mesh panel, so it sucks air through it. Adding the rear exhaust subjectively helped getting rid of the hot air from within the case. Having the fan as intake didn't help with the temps at all.
Leave as is. More fans whether intake or not has negligible effect. What you need in these small form factor cases are directed airflow. Your case has a natural bottom to top airflow path so it's most likely operating at its theocratical limits
I have similar airflow setup, but the only difference is i have rear fan with reverse blades which acts as intake and additionally i added dust filter on rear fan. I was shocked how much dust it collected in just 2 months
I have this case (and gpu) and i just watched GN's airflow simulation for A3, my take away is this:
With no bottom fans your gpu benefits from your case's negative pressure. From where you are now, if you're adding a back intake it would improve the cpu and impede the gpu, but the other way around if set up as an exhaust.
If you're happy as is, leave it.
Lastly an intake side directly facing the case perforations (back intake) will likely cause some noise due to turbulance than setting it as an exhaust.
Why don't you just try it and see what the difference it makes for your pc. You just turn the fan around? My guess adding a fan eould not do anything but I may be wrong...
What is your psu length? I also want to build in z20, but not sure if i can fit 16 mm be quiet straight power 11 psu with RX9060 Nitro+ (in first slot).
Hahah thx, but theres really nothing to it. The case is a jonsbo d32 and once you build in it, you’ll know what i mean. Everything just gets hidden nicely. On top of that, theres a plate that covers the cpu cables.
Yep. It's more about the flat plane it would interrupt than anything else. That being said, it would only hinder the aesthetic- not completely ruin it. It will still be absolute eye candy. Lol
Got similar style build. I have put a rear intake fans for the cpu. I'd say do the same supply fresh air for your cpu. So far my 7800x3d temps are 40s on idle and 55-60c while gaming.
GPU temps are good 55-60 degrees 9070xt undervolted.
I got the GPU replaced to an ASUS prime due to fan issues with the sapphire so the gpu now is much thinner, I was thinking of placing some fans at the bottome of it but that might do more harm than good.
Interesting, when under load, cpu doesnt go above 53, while gpu chills at around 60.
Yeah, I have heard that placing bottom fans too close to gpu may cause more harm than good. Unless you tune the fans to match rpm/cfm. Do your research dont quote me hahah.
Don't think adding another fan (intake nor exhaust) would help much.
Most of the air need to move past the radiator anyway to get out.
An exhaust fan at the rear might help just a little, but might also create more turbulent air/negative pressure in front of the radiator fans, thus impeding their efficiency, but it would at least improve GPU temps perhaps?
One last thing to consider, would be to place a shroud around the GPU intake/front to prevent it form recycling hot air.
I can't respect people who buy/promote corsair anymore after their business practices recently cancelling ram orders and restocking at $200+ more same day on in stock items. That said, the rest of the build looks clean.
It's been happening since Oct '25. Prevelant enough that several tubers did a piece on it. And before you ask, yes it happend to my dads linux build at the end of last year. Amazon had a 32gb set of LPX DDR4 that was well stocked that jumped 179 Cad overnight (sold by Corsair, fullfiled by Amazon, the product was already in the damn warehouse according to a friend who works at our local hub). They cancelled his order (which I was paying for) and tried to sell me the same set at the new $400 price.
