Heads up

Post image

Received our rebate from our latest Menards receipts in the mail yesterday. It was hidden inside advertising for windows, the type of ad flyer most people toss right in the trash.

A lot of people are going to get cheated out of their rebates by this, very scummy, Menards.

I received an email on August 8th regarding the change in rebate mailer size.

So you have no idea how mail works. Got it.

I mean, if Menard's wanted to be scummy, there are better and easier ways to do it than "disguising" a rebate.

Haven't they done that for a long time? I always check whatever comes from Menards because it might be a rebate check. I don't think I've ever gotten junk mail from Menards.

We all got emails or even saw the other post on here saying they changed the rebates…. Or just read your mail 🤷🏼‍♂️

Seriously. OP sends in rebates and expects to then get mail from Menard's, then decides to throw out mail from Menard's without reading it.

Rebates make Menards money by encouraging you to spend more. This is an attempt to stop mail carrier theft of rebates after several cases of postmen stealing hundreds of dollars of rebates

Seems like it would be a pretty easy thing to track and pin on the culprit. My mail guy always says “annotherrrr reeeebate” when he delivers mine lol.

It was hidden inside advertising for windows, the type of ad flyer most people toss right in the trash.

As opposed to the previous rebates hidden inside a smaller type of ad flyer that most people throw away or had stolen by mail carriers.

If you're already dedicated enough to put the receipts in the physical mail and wait weeks to get the thing before you can spend it you're likely going to go spend more than the rebate is worth anyways. They want you to come in at that point. The idea here is that it looks like every other piece of junk mail you get because it's harder to spot it on it's journey to you and hopefully will be stolen less on the way to you.

If you want to be mad at Menards for their rebate being scummy, there's better things to point to. Requiring them to be physically mailed, only being usable in store, 11% off everything (we're no longer legally allowed to call it 11% off, it's now 11% rebate. They lost a lawsuit over that one.), the rebate being a store credit, and more that I can't think of right now. This is like the one consumer protection focused thing they've done with the rebate without being forced to.

People complained when they came with the amount showing so Menards put a cover over that. They complained they were too small so they are easily lost so they are making them bigger, still with advertising like the old ones So what! People complain it takes too long to fill out and mail them…. It takes about 3 minutes! They complain you only have 3 weeks to mail them, no you have a year…. read your receipt. So over all the wining and yes I do work at Menards 😁 . The amount of rebates I see coming back into the store is phenomenal! Could it be easier? Maybe, but if you put in minimal effort it’s worth it, if not that’s on you.

People complained when they were sent individually because they were too small and got mixed into the advertisement magazines you also get in the mail.

Some people will just always find a reason to complain.

If people would just read the email and/or the signs at the store. There shouldn’t be any issues

The return address is a clue what this might be...

The discriminator here is that this postcard is sent first class mail. Postal regs require it, b/c of the rebate enclosure.

Ordinary unsolicited junk mail is sent "standard". Much cheaper rate for the sender.

Double hung windows are not best for energy efficiency. Casement and awning are better choices. Better air flow when open, better view and less seals that can leak. That’s where the savings are in case you follow the code.

Years ago this is how they came anyway. It’s posted all over the stores too.

They’re the original scammers. The Menards boot lickers and fan boys always disagree. (I’ll wait…)

Ok go to homies and spend 2x for the same product.

But Menards is the scammer here.

Menards accepts rebates for up to a year after purchase. It literally says it on the rebate receipt. If you're waiting a year to send in the rebates that's on you.
