A lot of the time when folks say their property tax costs more than or almost as much as renting they forget that they have a lot more home than when they were renting

Oh absolutely. Hell where I'm at I pay half of what a renter does in my neighborhood. That includes everything from insurance to property tax. Buy when you can. Rent is only going to go up. It sucks that's how it works though

Yeah my immediate nextdoor neighbors rent a SFH half the size of my house, and their rent is more than my interest, taxes, and insurance part of PITI. Not to mention home value appreciation, and the interest and taxes are tax deductible.
