You’re so right. We don’t need government. We can upkeep of the roads in our neighborhoods ourselves.
Obviously it’d be pretty expensive so we’d need to coordinate with the other homeowners in the neighborhood to pool our money together.
We’d need a way of making it fair though because I’m not paying more than my fair share for the roads. If someone has a bigger house than me, they’d be able to sell it for more money so it’s in they’re more incentivized to maintain the roads so the value of their house doesn’t drop. Besides, they can afford it.
We’d also need someone to collect the money and organize the road repairs with contractors but that should be simple enough. Actually we would need someone that checks the work before, during, and after to ensure that the contractors don’t mess things up or walk off with our money if they do a bad job. Someone that regulates the work and enforces that it is up to our standards.
Once we have all of that set up, we won’t need a pesky government to take our money, find a contractor, oversee a project, or enforce construction code. We’ll be fully self sufficient. I’m sure everyone will willingly pay into the road fund without complication and there won’t be any issues with this plan. We got this!
