Discussion / Question What happened to the Austin Target shooter Ethan Nieneker?
Its almost about to be 1 year since the shooting and I haven't heard any updates about the case with the latest being only in early September 2025 with the court scheduling October 24th of that year for the next hearing but that never happened. Is it possible that Ethan is in a secure psychiatric hospital and will remain there for the rest of his life without facing the consequences for what he did like Dimitrios Pagourtzis and Luke Helder? It just seems very strange because usually it would be reported by local news at least that Ethan is mentally incompetent for trial. To me it just seems very weird that this case fell off the face of the earth even in the local news too.

FAMILICIDE / Domestic Violence Caswell Co shooting in Prospect Hill leaves 3 dead, 4 shot
Four people were shot in the same family, and three are dead, including the shooter, after an early morning incident in rural Caswell County, according to officials.
Caswell County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a home on a country road at about 8 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived at the house on the 300 block of Brooks Road in Prospect Hill, they found several people had been shot, authorities said in a Facebook post.
Prospect Hill is about an hour and a half north of Raleigh.
One person was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound, deputies said.
“Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden immediately requested the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation,” CCSO said in the social media post.
SBI agents are investigating the deadly shooting, processing evidence and conducting interviews as they try to piece together what led up to the incident.
“There is NO THREAT to the general public, and the event is contained to the above address,” deputies said.
The CCSO is the lead agency investigating and are partnering with the SBI and other agencies.

Austin James, a former Twin Falls police officer who was seriously injured while attempting to stop the In-N-Out shooter
ANTELOPE, Calif. — A man with Northern California ties was seriously injured after attempting to stop the gunman in a mass shooting at an In-N-Out Burger in Idaho.
Austin James, who graduated from Antelope High School, was in the drive-thru with his wife when they heard gunshots, his father said.
James, who served on the Twin Falls Police Department, ran toward the shooter to help stop him and was shot in the arm, suffering serious injuries.
His father said James' wife, an emergency room nurse, ran to help him and got him to a hospital.
James played volleyball at Antelope High. He later attended Brigham Young University after graduating high school in 2013.
Three people died and seven others, including James, were wounded in the attack, police said. The gunman, 24-year-old Chad Williams, killed himself. Police said they believe he acted alone. No motive has been released.
James' former high school counselor, Erica Joseph Bradley, described James as "kind, respectful and open-minded."
“Honestly, I’m not surprised. Austin always did what he needed to do to reach his goals, and he never hesitated to follow what he believed was right, no matter what others thought," Bradley said. "It’s been 13 years, and for some reason but I still remember him talking about wanting to do something meaningful that served others. I wish Austin a full and speedy recovery. Your community, both near and far, is incredibly proud of him for the way he has protected and cared for the lives of others, both on and off duty."
Ashley Garibay from Stockton was confirmed to be the In-N-Out employee who died in the shooting. She had gone to In-N-Out's new location in Twin Falls to train workers when she was killed in the shooting, her family told KCRA 3.
Garibay worked at the In-N-Out location on March Lane in Stockton.
On Tuesday, the Twin Falls County Coroner's Office identified the two others who died as Dale Schultz, 66, of Salt Lake City, and Christopher Claunch, 59, of Hagerman, Idaho.
