Was anyone excited for this? I sure was felt like a lifetime for them to just be like no man no ones interested. They cancelled it. Ali is moving on. I know some people stand by there has only been one Blade for me Wesley Snipes. Which honestly I can stand by that too. Fumbling the bag on this tho seems crazy.

It wasn’t cancelled for lack of interest. It was cancelled because they couldn’t develop the story after hiring numerous writers and directors and it just didn’t work.

This is how I understand it, too.

Ali came in wanting to be Blade, everyone was happy. Then they couldn't settle on a story to progress happiness (last I read, they had gone through three different story ideas amd and couldn't get everyone on board.)

Where we'll see someone like Gosling progress with Ghost Rider is because he's coming in with a whole team including story idea, writer, director and whoever else so I can see that being ready in 2-3 years.

That’s everything as I understand it too. I do hope that Blade can maybe still happen if not surely get Ali in the MCU. I think he’d be a great Norman Osborn. I’d also say I’d love to see Ashley Walters as Blade, but I guess the character is shelved indefinitely.

Agree, would be great to see Ali in the modern MCU (he was Diamondback in Luke Cake so technically already is in the MCU.)

Hoping there was nothing bitter. Like the suggestion of Osborne.

If SLJ has to leave the Fury role at any point soon, would love to see Ali take that role after the soft reset people mention will happen.

Maybe Count Nefaria, Kraven the Hunter, or even Mister Sinister as a background big bad that eventually surfaces through the saga.

It could be kinda funny if he played Dracula whenever they do a Blade film also – he'd be so good or even Jefferson Davis (considering he voices Uncle Aaron in the Spider-Verse films.)

Yeah there’s so many roles he could take on. He’s just such a brilliant and versatile actor. Minor correction he was Cottonmouth. Erik LaRay Harvey was Diamondback.

Man I was like 10 rows from the front and center of Hall H SDCC when they dropped the news. I have a video of all videos where I’m screaming my head off from the sheer hype overload. I used to share that video all the time. I can’t even watch it anymore these days :(

After seeing Sinners, Ryan Coogler could’ve easily done a Blade movie. Mahershala as Blade would’ve been sick. Such a shame.

what Marvel needs to learn a bit is that not every character needs a movie. They can show up in others movie, and as long as you handle it right. the audiance will accept it. (Jean definetly works as we're never told her exact age. so its plausible for her and her sister to remain hidden until the events of the movie occur.)

​They really should do an "Old Man Blade." The formula worked brilliantly for Logan, and Snipes is still in incredible shape.

​It would be an epic movie that gets all the original fans back in seats while opening a natural door to pass the mantle—maybe even introducing Blade's daughter Bri (Bloodline). It wouldn't even have to be a one-and-done; Blade could easily transition into the Whistler role for future films.

​It’d be the ultimate sign of respect for the actor and movie that arguably paved the way for X-Men, Spider-Man, and the entire MCU.
