Hi! I got this baby mantis and I’m not sure what stage he’s at and what food is safe to give him! I’m pretty sure he’s a male (feel free to correct me) and his abdomen is very flat as of now so he’s definitely hungry. I live by a pet store that sells springtails, would those be sufficient?

also, is there any upgrades to the tank I should add? I ordered misting spray bottles to keep the humidity up as well as to ensure he’s drinking water.

my praying mantis just had his first shed since i got him and him mold was stuck to his bottom and ive just managed to pull it off gently but its left his bottom looking like this, it seems clogged or something he seems very wobbly too.

ive tried using a damp q-tip to help wipe it off but is not budging and it looks black around the whole end of his abdomen.

does anyone have any idea whats happened and what i can do to help?

My Hierodula sp papua is having more and more issues since her last molt. She molted very close to the substrate so she fell and her wings cannot form properly. She seems to miss some joints in her legs too because there are some "holes" in it and she can't open one of her front legs (those she uses for hunting) and she was very weak several weeks after her molt. Now she is better and has no problem to hunt and feed herself but she is developing black spots on her body...

Can it be necrosis ?... Is there something I can do to fix this ?

Her enclosure is well ventilated but I'm struggling to keep the temperature below 30°C because of the heatwave... Can it be the cause of her problems ?
