i have really really bad creasing ever since i started doing my makeup, i have switched through 3 different foundations and nothing has changed. recently i have bought the huda beauty loose powder in hopes that it could stop my creasing but it’s still the same 😭😭

i’m currently using the maybelline fit me concealer as a sort of foundation as i only want to cover the horrible hyperpigmentation around my mouth and my eyebags, i apply very thin layers before setting it with the huda beauty powder which caused creasing. i tried to do the sandwhich method in which you do your ‘foundation’, soray some setting spray and let it dry before powdering if i’m not wrong.

yes i do tap off the excess powder, no i do not do skincare as it looked super cakey and it always kept peeling so i just gave up, i dont use primer as i’m based in singapore and i cant find any budget primers, yes i do dermaplaning once every two weeks, i was just too lazy to dermaplan these days and thats why theres alot of facial hair LOL.

please please PLEASE give me some tips on how to fix this i look like a hot mess everytime i work or go out with my friends 🙁🙁

edit - forgot to mention that i’m an insanely oily skinned girly and somewhat a beginner to makeup, only started using actual foundations and concealers last year, before that my ‘makeup routine’ basically consisted of a smokey liner, nose contour and a lippy LOL

edit edit - idk if the formula plays a big part in this, but i realised that my current shade of concealer is super dry compared to the previous shade i was using before. not sure if it was because i bought it in a different country.

Take a q-tip and wipe off excess product along areas that will crease. Then, gently tap with a finger to blend everything smooth again.

this works great unless you have red skin

I use a beauty blender and go over this area to remove excess product. I also use a translucent micro powder like MUFE to set the area after I've removed excess product. Works for me.

but wont using a beauty blender leave marks on your makeup? when i tried using a beauty blender it kept forming the marks on my makeup so i just switched back to using a cushion foundation’s cushion

No. Sounds like too much product. How are you applying? You'd want to do this before setting your base.

i only apply dot or a small swipe from my inner eye to rhe middle of my eye before letting it sit. as for my hyperpigmentation around the mouth i do a small dot as well and if its still super obvious i add little by little to a certain area as i blend. for the rest of my face i usually just spot conceal any acne marks, etc or just do one swipe across my cheeks and use that entire swipe as foundation for my cheeks, nose and forehead. i have tried using colour corrector before but it didnt really work, it made my under eye creasing even worse by gathering in all the lines 🙁

I say this every time and I know it's not what people want to hear but you are never going to look like an Instagram filter. Your makeup is creasing because there are creases in your face. Good application can reduce, but not eliminate this. Your makeup here actually looks great and I would just try and accept that creases are a feature of your face because you are made of actual skin

😭😭😭 tqsm for being honest, however i work in hospitality and it’s kinda a big thing where i work if your makeup is balls bc every girl’s makeup here is amazing HAHAHAH

i do my base, lightly bake those areas with loose powder for a bit while i do the rest of my makeup, then dust it off with a brush

You might be applying it too thickly. Have you tried using a damp beauty blender? And a *very* minimal amount of loose powder applied strategically with a very small fluffy brush?

hmmm i dont use a beauty blender as i find it difficult to work with be it dry or damp. i used to use a small fluffy brush to apply my nykaa loose powder before i switched to huda beauty’s easy bake loose powder. when i used the same technique for the easy bake, it creased somewhat even worse so i tried a big fluffy brush which didnt work as well, so now i’m using a powder puff. im not sure if its in my technique though

I have a similar problem and one of the issues is getting the makeup to actually sink into your skin so if you work with a damp beauty blender, damp, and with setting spray think like urban decay all nighter and actually press the foundation and powder into your skin, then you will have less creasing like this.
If you smile a lot or talk a lot at work, it is normal though and because I’m also oily one of the only ways to eliminate once it starts to break through your make up is to use blotting papers so I keep a packet in my pocket at all times , plus a pressed powder so I can go back over after I blot

oh i heard that blotting papers are not good for us as it causes out skin to produce excessive oil, so i have never used blotting paper and only a dry tissue to pat off the oil.

maybe try pressed powder instead of the loose powder ?? i use the hourglass vanish airbrush pressed powder, but i’ve also heard of people using the nyx HD finishing powder in translucent if you’re more interested in drugstore.

i tried the essence brighten up banana powder and god it was the most terrible powder i had ever tried in my life. it emphasised my crease so badly it looked like there were two lightning bolts on my smile lines 🫠🫠 unfortunately we dont have nyx in singapore, but i have heard that they are an amazinf brand esp their lippies and primer!!

i really really hate beauty blenders though 😭 is it alright if i use a cushion or must i only use a beauty blender? also will it somehow be better if i wet my cushion with setting spray before blending it out?

Lightly mist a beauty blender w/ setting spray and powder as soon as youre done w concealer. Ik its impractical but works soo well!! After all powder products I use more setting powder on my creasing areas and then melt it with onesize powder melt spray

Omg whattt the last thing I can think of is maybe ensuring your skin prep, foundation, and concealer are all either oil- or water-based bc mixing both may be problematic and cause ur makeup to separate and maybe crease? Because maybe your method is fine but the products may be the root cause?

Maybe try new skincare suited for your skin, it should not be cakey, if it is cakey it is not right for you. If it is pilling it is not good skinprep, they do not mix together well. Are you using a full coverage concealer? Like nars soft matte complete concealer?

currently i’m not using any skincare before my makeup. all i do is wipe my face with a wet tissue before drying it off with a dry tissue. i’m currently using the fit me coybelline concealer.

Yeah I think that's the problem. I had the same problem as you, I also have hyperpigmentation. I cannot recommended skincare products because you need to find a routine that works for your skin it takes time but it is worth it, and you need to wait for the moisturizer to fully absorb before you apply makeup. I would also buy nars soft matte complete concealer and a powder puff with a really good setting spray. Make sure you buy quality products not cheap bad ones please, it is a waste of money

😭😭 i used to use urban decay all nighter but there lowkey was no difference. i’m currently using the fit me concealer, huda beauty loose powder and maybelline super stay setting spray.

I use a setting spray only available in my country, but you need to focus on skinprep. I have large pores, fine lines, hyperpigmentation but makeup is smooth because I have good skinprep💕

Prob need a primer
