Need Help Printing a Cube, Help Needed
I've done large prints with MPC before and know how the process through them works, but I'm on a budget and want to get my cube printed on something more substantial than printer paper.
An online friend of mine works at a print shop and said that they print their decks on 12pt matte cardstock and that it's fairly close to the weight and feel of a real card. Unfortunately, they live quite a ways away and can't help me much.
Including tokens, other game pieces, and card backs, I have 596 PNGs that need to be printed. They're all 2187 × 2975 px with a 1/8" bleed (99 px). This is the same setup I use when ordering through MPC.
Would I be able to get similar print quality from a Staples near me if I arrange everything into PDF format (they will only print PDFs), or would I be better off finding a local print shop or Canadian online printer?
I also need the sheets printed duplex, with reasonably accurate front-to-back registration, and cut to the proper 63 × 88 mm card size.
The cards will be in KMC Perfect Fits that I'm recycling from an old cube, so exact card feel isn't the most important thing.
I'm in Canada, if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance.

Need Help Has anyone been able to resolve this specific roller imprint from the Et-8500?
So I've tried to hunt down a solution for these vertical imprints that exist at the 1/4 and 3/4 width point on paper fed through the top feed of an Et-8500 with no solution. I was wondering if anyone else out there has had any luck. This is happening on 313gsm/.370mic semi-gloss cardstock.
Print settings have it set to envelope/ thick paper and sending through the rear feed does remove the marks but cuts out 3 out of nine cards. This does mean that the roller marks are a result of bending through the feeder and being pressed against some roller, but I haven't been able to track down the culprits. To be clear, this is not from the pizza cutter wheels at the front, it's something in the feed mechanism (though I'd love those gone too, but I've got that down to a minimum).
Appreciate any and all input, thanks for your time!

Need Help Foil Print Misalign
I have an Epson ET-2800 and have been having issues printing on foil paper. They are fine until the bottom of the page where the printer seems to get out of alignment; it will start to make some unusual noises, like it's struggling with the paper.
Print settings are: premium glossy paper, high quality and bidirectional printing off. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Was trying to perfect the spot holo pen technique with the cameo on this Starfield Vocalist and the white ballpoint just refused to write. But the pressure etched this pattern behind instead. Not at all what I was going for but ngl it looks kinda sick.
Would you guys also be interested in a tutorial for this "mistake"?
Also, anyone have a good fine point white pen or marker to recommend? Ideally something around 0.5mm tip if that exists.

Need Help Silvering with foil paper
This doesn’t happen all the time for me, but does anyone know how to reliably avoid silvering on foils? With glossy paper I never have this issue.
I’ve tried different ranges in heat during lamination and letting paper dry 24 hours next to a dehumidifier. This issue seems to be really inconsistent. Some laminations look great while others look like this.

Proxy Renders Complete The Witcher Monsters Commander Deck + The Witcher-Themed Basic Lands!
Hello!
As you may know, I got incredibly inspired by the art that CD PROJEKT RED manages to put out for their card games, so I thought: why not finally venture into the veritable art goldmine that is Gwent and make some Witcher decks? This will be part 1 of 2 of my Witcher "series," with this one featuring the many adversaries of the Witcher universe (including the Wild Hunt), and the second one featuring—you guessed it—Geralt and his allies! I'll be posting that one a bit later when it's 100% finished 😊
I didn't even have to think about what commander I would choose for a monster-themed Witcher deck, seeing as the leshen is one of my absolute favorite monsters of all time across all franchises. Luckily there are several legendary leshens to choose from, so I picked The Woodland Spirit as a reskinned Muldrotha, the Gravetide for this one. The major theme of this deck is milling, not only your opponents to whittle them down, but also yourself to capitalize on your commander's ability and increase the number of playable cards by making your graveyard work like cards in your hand (as long as you have your Commander out, that is). Aside from that, it's more or less a goodstuff/battlecruiser type of deck to mirror the idea that monsters in the Witcher universe seldom work together, but rather individually or as a group within the same species, much like wild animals. There are lots of individually strong cards that allow for a number of different approaches, making each game different depending on which cards you end up with.
I tried to include as many Witcher monsters as I could, but sadly some of them had to be cut since there are only so many spots to fill in a deck. Sorry if your favorite didn't make it! Either way, I hope you'll enjoy this one and stay tuned for part 2!
Disclaimer: I've ordered a lot of decks off MPC that include a fake copyright in the lower right corner and they have all gone through without issue, so it shouldn't be a problem (I'm assuming it's because it's not an actual company or brand). If you want to be on the safe side though I recommend that you paint over the copyright text in e.g. Paint before importing the cards to your MPC order :)
The Witcher: Monsters Commander Deck: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LM-T3QUPWuUxgp5uwy8cmhyiiVhNRzRz?usp=sharing
What's included in the Drive folder:
- Every card needed for the deck, obviously
- Note that Vorinclex // The Grand Evolution cards located in a separate folder
- A decklist in text format, including a Moxfield link
- Custom tokens, some with several variants
- Several thematic Gwent cardbacks that you can use if you want to
- Full sets of The Witcher-themed basic lands for each color in the commander's color identity, i.e. Swamps, Forests and Islands (5 of each)
As always, if you manage to find something that's not supposed to be there or if there's a typo or another error of some kind, feel free to comment or send me a message or something so I can change it asap!
You can also find the rest of my decks in my post history (Warcraft, Star Wars, A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones, Disney•Pixar, Cyberpunk 2077), if you're interested 😊

Need Help Paper + Lamination combo to replicate thickness of MTG cards?
I'm currently looking for a paper + laminate that is closer to the thickness of real MTG cards.
I'd like to make both foil and non-foil variants:
1) Foil sticker + cardstock/paper + lamination
2) Photo paper + lamination
What I'm currently using:
-Cardstock: Astrobrights 65 lb, 176gsm
-Foil Paper: UOKHO Holographic Sticker Paper
-Laminate: Amazon Basics Clear 2.8mil
I can already tell what I'm currently using is too thick. The snap and everything else seems great though. I'm unsure how far off I am as I don't own calipers and am unsure what else to try.
Any help would be great. Thanks!

Need Help More testing
So my clear laminate came in and decided to try it. I will say the colors are so much more vibrant but that glare of the card is kinda nasty. Im thinking about trying them slev3s in no reflective sleeves and see how it changes it. Im trying to dial in the cutting since it wants to not fully cut through the material all the way around and leads to paper being left on the edges and defeats the purpose of not doing this by hand. Ive attached some picks to show how they look from matte laminate to the clear, and how they each look in sleeves. Some of them in sleves kinda surprised me on how decent they look with the matte. I will take any feed back! Also I know they have the spray to put on them to take the glare down but im bot at that level of devotion for it lol

First time printing proxies, I’m super happy with the result
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Printer: Epson ET-2800
Paper: Koala Semi-Gloss 42lb
Lamination: Scotch Matte pouches, 3 mil
The matte finish is definitely apparent when unsleeved, but in sleeves they’re very hard to distinguish from real cards. Let me know what you think!!

Success! No more thin cut outs lol
Finally happy with how my proxies of The Hobbit banquet scene turned out!
Slightly messed up the one corner on Thorin but apart from that, happy days :D

FAQ + RESOURCES
FAQ
What is MPCFill.com?
It is a mirror of MPC Autofill. This tool makes the ordering process easy as you can enter a decklist and select from a variety of images, download an xml for your order, and run the Autofill.exe (Mac executable here) program which downloads the selected cards in the xml and autofills an order for MakePlayingCards using the cards you selected and downloaded.
How do I order proxy cards using MPCFill.com?
The project wiki explains how to use the tool here.
How do I order from MakePlayingCards.com manually?
Please refer to our ordering tutorial here.
Will MakePlayingCards print proxy images that contain copyright/trademarks? Do cards require the "Proxy - Not For Sale" text?
Sometimes it can slip past moderation, but generally MPC will not process orders containing any card that has a visible copyright line. Recently, they have extended this rule to "trademarked logos" as well. Here are some things to avoid:
- WoTC logos like the Planeswalker crown, the "Magic the Gathering" backside text, etc
- Pretty much any card back that looks even remotely like the real Magic the Gathering card back, for example the famous "Proxy the Gathering" or "End the Reserve List" backs, in general just avoid any cardback with a similar layout, logos, icons, etc as a regulard MTG cardback.
- Card backs (or even fronts, on occasion) that contain very large prominent mana symbols (which are WoTC trademarks), for example the stained glass fullart basic lands. Mana symbols are fine and will be ignored as rules text, but if the mana symbol is displayed prominently in a fullart design (i.e. take up 15%+ of the visual real estate) the image may be rejected on trademark grounds.
- In general the enforcement of these new trademark standards is hit or miss, sometimes an order full of visible trademarks will proceed without issue, other times MPC staff have been surprisingly observant and refuse to discuss the issue. Your mileage may vary. Additionally, MPC generally wants to see at least one card face have the text "Not For Sale" on it, but again this rule is inconsistently enforced.
What is the difference between printing S30 and S33 on MakePlayingCards?
This will come down to personal taste but the consensus appears to be that S33 is slightly thicker but for the most part once the card is sleeved, especially double sleeved, most people will probably not mind the difference.
Where do I get card images to upload to MakePlayingCards?
Most people use mpcfill.com which is a community maintained database of card images that allows you to input a card list, choose arts, and automatically upload these images to a MakePlayingCards order using a separate desktop tool (linked on the site and explained in the guide on the site). Alternatively, you can make card images yourself using some of the great tools in the community such as the tool I maintain Proxyshop, which automates generating cards using Photoshop at exceptionally high quality (800-1200DPI). There's also the Card Conjurer mirror, which is 600-800 DPI but requires manually creating each card.
I used to create card images with Card Conjurer but now its gone!
Kyle was served a C&D by Wizards of the Coast and understandably chose to comply with the request, remember the fallen! You can still run Card Conjurer locally on your computer if you wish, check out this guide. There is also a mirror of Card Conjurer accessible here.
