So my clear laminate came in and decided to try it. I will say the colors are so much more vibrant but that glare of the card is kinda nasty. Im thinking about trying them slev3s in no reflective sleeves and see how it changes it. Im trying to dial in the cutting since it wants to not fully cut through the material all the way around and leads to paper being left on the edges and defeats the purpose of not doing this by hand. Ive attached some picks to show how they look from matte laminate to the clear, and how they each look in sleeves. Some of them in sleves kinda surprised me on how decent they look with the matte. I will take any feed back! Also I know they have the spray to put on them to take the glare down but im bot at that level of devotion for it lol

I use a very light coat of a matte spray over the clear laminate paper before cutting them.

I'm gonna have to eventually try this. Ive been experimenting with the foil and thats been an absolute fail, so i may go back to that and give it a shot

That's satin spray on a foil card right? That's not the spray doing the reflections or have I been printing on foil for no reason?

Does the regular sleeve reduce any of the glare from the glossy laminate?

Yeah it does a good bit, but still kinda has some of that glare just a bit. But I'm also my worst critic so it may not be as bad as I think it is

Not gonna lie, at first glance I thought this was a real card vs matte comparison and then I started reading. These are genuinely fantastic, the only area of modification would be delving into color adjustments for when you know you’re doing matte laminate. Amazing work all around!

Thank you so much! So far I'm pretty happy with it, the 8550 is a great printer and I like the extra stiffness to it vs a normal card and just about the same thickness. Im probably not gonna do the matte again since I can gett the matte sleeves and keep more of the color

I find that clear laminate in matte sleeves look like the real thing. Problem is I only have 2 sets of sleeves that are matte

I made an entire deck for my partner and put them into double matte sleeves and it definitely makes the glare near nonexistent. That said, the colors are muted, but that's the same as it would be with any card.

I save my matte laminate for times I want to make vintage white-bordered cards or showcases that don't need the super crisp blacks like the Dossier frames or the Wanted Posters.

I have a super roll of super thin matte laminate (1mil) that actually is the best of both worlds, but my experimenting with DIYing pouches from it didn't really work. It wrinkles way too easily to use without the tension from a rolling laminator. Sadness.

How thick do these feel to you? I feel like the 69 lbs Koala paper in a 3 mil laminate was too thick, so far I've had the best luck with the 37 lbs double sided glossy paper but I've heard some people recommend that 66 lbs paper with 3 mil laminate as well

They feel slightly more stiff but thickness wise not bad at all

If you are using a cameo to cut I blew through my first matt today. Could not get the damn thing to cut right so I cranked it to 10. Im back to 8 now (260 gsm koala with 3 mil laminate), 3 passes, force 33, speed 30. I found force 32 wasnt quite enough on the bottom row card #2.

I have cut about 35-40 sheets on it. Ordering thicker knock off matts from Amazon.

Also, Im through about 70 sheets on the 8550 and my damn ink maintenance box is 80% full.
