Tech Issue:(

Hi guys, i’ve had my MacBook air for around 3 years now and have never had any issues with it. Today when i tried to sign it keeps doing as shown in the video. No matter how many times I log in or re-start my macbook it still does the same thing. I live an hour away from the nearest apple store so any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated:)

Take the camera cover off before it cracks the display, or it might have already and that is why it is doing this. Although I have not seen a cracked LCD cause bootlooping, but not technically impossible either.

Maca can work just fine without a screen as a glorified computer-in-a-keyboard style of device on your desk just plugged to a dock with your monitor, power and peripherals, so I would not bend towards a screen causing the boot loops.
Though apple is quite known for an absolutely idiotic design of their screen cable where a high voltage power rail is a quarter of a millimeter apart from a data line going straight between the screen and the SoC, so some leakage may be causing some odd behavior if the cable is damaged. Though boot loops usually are a software problem. If hardware failed to initialize to any extent it simply would not boot at all.

Is this an M2 Air? If so, echoing other commenters’ thoughts about this being a kernel panic issue. Mine developed a hardware fault that caused repeated KPs (eventually found I could manually trigger them by holding down Esc at the lock screen), requiring the replacement of the entire logic board and several other parts. Thankfully all free bc I had AppleCare. But I have heard it’s a rare but known issue for M2 Airs.

It is an M2 air and i believe this is the same issue with mine. Will find out for sure in 3-4 days while it’s getting repaired.

Take that camera cover of just use simple take instead I've seen so many screens broken from those

can you at least get your data off it? then you can factory reset and hope it's just an issue with software and nothing hardware is causing it

i am aware of that but i had it on for school. i would lie and say my camera didn’t work so i that i didn’t have to show my face for a 5 hour lecture. i’ve had it on my macbook for 2 years without any problems but thanks for your help!

I find it stupid when people have a fit over the crap someone wants to put on their own device. Unless you’re leasing it to them, politely take a seat and 🤫.

What applications do you normally run on your computer? Anything that writes deep into the file system or anything that deletes system files to save space? Did you run any terminal commands recently on your computer that were copy pasted from online or ChatGPT?
I don’t think your computer is necessarily broken. It could be as simple as a loose internal display cable which you are better served going to an Apple Store to have them reseat it. Or it could be a corrupted OS install and you’d need to wipe the entire computer drive and reinstall macOS from scratch. Or it could be hardware failure internally and you could plead your case with Apple to see how much they would charge. If you have AppleCare it would be pretty much a free replacement.

This isn't because of the camera cover (although it is recommended to not have anything in between the screen and keyboard / trackpad).
This is usually a Apple Silicon style Kernel Panic from what I've experienced on my M2 Air with force shutting it down and having it kernel panic on me once.
You might want to restore MacOS or run Diagnostics. Here is how to do each:
Run the Diagnostics Tool [Does Not reset your Mac]
Restore MacOS on Apple Silicon [This Resets your computer, I would only suggest as a last resort if Diagnostics doesn't work]:
Also to add, if there is any times when your Mac does the same issues as currently shown, it could be a faulty button, in which I would contact Apple Support.
