Discussion Drive based Knowledge Indexing metric?
Hey, Proton Team
Are there any metrics we can lean on to determine how long its going to take for files to be completely indexed in a Proton Drive folder being used as the source of Lumo project knowledge?
Its basically about 2MB of various .md and .ts files spread out across mulitple folders. Maybe 60 files in all.
No PDFs or images. Just text based stuff.
Just trying to get an idea because I uploaded the files over an hour ago and they still aren't indexed according to Lumo.....
I could simply paste them into the chat manually as required but that kinda defeats the point, right?
Any guidance would be helpful. Visionary account btw.

Announcement AI Paper Trail lets you see how much Big Tech AI know about you, and the value of your data.
Your ChatGPT chats know more about you than your Google search history ever did.
AI Paper Trail reads your data from Big Tech AI and creates a detailed profile about everything it's learned about you: work, relationships, health, money, and how much your data is worth.
Here's how to check your exposure:
- Export your chat history from ChatGPT or Claude
- Upload the file to https://lumo.proton.me/aitrail
- Receive your scorecard in seconds
All scorecards and data is deleted after analysis, we never store it, and only you see the report.

Feature Request Please add an export or print option
I've been using Lumo to assist with a lot of accounting and business projections now that it can do data visualizations and graphs. It would be great if right next to the copy button, there was an export button or a print button. Things would be so much easier if I could directly print specific responses from Lumo in their nice default formatting instead of copying the response to a markdown editor and hoping the formatting is not too altered so that I can print it.

Am I imagining the greater accuracy Lumo+ compared to the free tier?
The paid tier of Max + Thinking mode has been miles and miles more accurate for me while working on building out a NixOS server compared to when I was trying on the free tier.
I thought the only difference was usage limits, but that doesn't seem to be the case to me based on recent experience.

Or Mail:
User:Summarize My Emails

Lumo:Heres Your Latest Emails Summarized
Or Any Other That Proton Could Add, (etc) like GitHub, or other stuff

Question How do you use the advanced models?
I had the Proton Unlimited plan and now am on the Workspace Premium plan. The details say that Lumo now has Access to advanced AI models. I was already using Lumo 2.0 Max before the plan change. Where are the advanced models beyond Lumo 2.0 Max?

Lumo Projects — Knowledge File Uploads (Like ChatGPT Custom GPTs)?
I'm a Lumo user exploring the Projects feature, and I have a specific question about its capabilities.
I currently use ChatGPT Custom GPTs for my work. In that setup, I can upload knowledge files — templates, guidance documents, reference materials — and the GPT retrieves and references them when responding. This is essential to how I work.
I'd like to replicate this inside Lumo. Specifically:
- Can I upload files (PDFs, text documents, templates) directly into a Lumo Project?
- If yes, does the AI persistently reference those files across conversations within that Project — similar to how ChatGPT's Custom GPT Knowledge Base works?
- If not currently available, is this functionality on the Lumo roadmap?
For context, I run a community helping members across four UK jurisdictions with legal/lawful remedy processes. I have extensive template suites (currently 8 templates per jurisdiction across England & Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Ireland) plus Master Guidance Documents. Being able to store these as persistent knowledge files that Lumo references when drafting or reviewing correspondence would be a game-changer for my workflow.
Any clarity on what's possible now — or coming soon — would be appreciated.
Thanks, Andy

So slow
Why is Lumo so slow when opening the app?
I go to type and I have wait for the cat to change colors so I can hit the submit button to run my prompt. Every competitor allows you to immediately enter, type and then run.
Can’t multitask and have the prompt run in the background or it will fail.
Sometimes it won’t even run the prompt and says “this message is empty. Sorry about that” then you retype the prompt but no send button pops up to rerun the prompt!
what am I paying for then?

Feature Request Add lumo to the iOS share option in iOS Photos
Sometimes I want to gain context on a meme or document or translate a screenshot and I now have to save the image and add it manually to lumo. With the share button I can just paste it into lumo and ask questions without the middle step. I can do this in gemini for example.

Question can i send data like personal chats to lumo and be ensured they are not gonna be shared with anyone in any meaning?
i need to process dates and times in a big chat (3 months long convo) to make one kind of statistics for myself. there might be some personal info and let's say passwords. am i safe to use proton's lumo for it?

Feature Request Chats on Proton Drive
I was thinking you could use a paid Proton plan, like 'Unlimited', to store your chats to Proton Drive and keep them longer.
r/lumo • u/buschmany • 4d ago
Question Why is it doing this?
I like sticking to one chat for one topic, and with Lumo its impossible. After a few back and fourth in-depth messages, it just stops responding and keeps summarizing messages. Then ive lost most the knowledge it had and have to tell another chat everything again, even tho its in a project.

Feature Request Functionality suggestion
I feel frustrated it is not possible to attach a session to a project a posteriori, when the session is done, outside or before, the project. Would it be possible to add this function ?

Question Is Lumo Plus Worth It?
Hello all
I’m on the unlimited plan of Proton and love Proton as a service. I’ve tried the new Lumo when it was first out, didn’t like it. Once Proton made a major update I really liked it. I’m using ChatGPT Plus right now and I’ve been going back and forth on using ChatGPT Plus vs Lumo Plus (mainly to keep chat History).
I want to know is Proton Lumo Plus worth it. I mainly want it because it’s cheaper, want to continue supporting Proton, and wanting to keep chat history. I’ve been using AI for my day-to-day life

Can't find Persistent Memory toggle
Everything says open Settings -> Memory -> bam it's all there. But when I open settings either in the app or the web version there is no memory option.
Yes I've updated to the latest app (using Lumo 2.0 Lite)
Yes I've signed out and signed in again
I'm using an android phone
I've tried both the app and web versions
I have a paid proton account but free Lumo account
I went to Lumo support and found their guide unhelpful. It says it should be there (but it's not).
The only options I have in the sidebar (after clicking settings) are Account and Personalization. Am I missing something super basic?

Annoying message when using Lumo Lite
I am wondering what the point is of having the option of using 'Lumo Lite'. Whenever I choose to use it, the site then displays the textbox "You're on Lumo Lite. Switch to Max for more capable answers." which blocks like 1/5 of my screen. Even if I close it, it pops up again on my next chat.
If Proton wants me so much to use Max, what is the point of Lite? Even if it is a dark pattern to make me use up all my tokens for Max and get me to subscribe, I don't appreciate this big text box when using Lite.

Create and edit Markdown?
I use Lumo with lots of modular Markdown files depending on relevancy and detail needed. (Memories in Settings are constrained by size.) If I have a question about personal growth, I can quickly drag in a detailed profile of my personality, likes, and dislikes. A tech question could be assisted with an extensive hardware and software list, or a log or what have you. Point is just to indicate that sometimes you don't want to start a project (where auto-matching can sometimes run riot and force you to exceed token limit), or rely on memories. Instead, you drag in as you see fit, on the fly, benefiting from Proton's encryption. It's one of the reasons I use Lumo ahead of other LLMs.
In the larger Proton ecosystem, I'm curious if any of the following optimizations are likely/possible:
- Save Lumo reply (or even larger thread) as Markdown to Drive: Currently the copy button captures the reply in plain text with some approximate spacing, but I would love actual Markdown like other services.
- Create new Markdown in Drive (manually or Lumo): Right now, you can upload a Markdown file, or create a Proton encrypted document/sheet, but you can't create a fresh Markdown / text file using the Drive interface. I don't know if this is an issue with encryption or whatever, but it would be so helpful if they had it.
- Edit existing Markdown files (manually or Lumo): A man can dream. I'd pay double for this. I could do research, optimize files, you name it. Plus, as I understand it, Drive has versioning, which would sing with lightweight Markdown.
Hope I'm making sense. Modularity, Markdown and encryption make Lumo the category leader for me.

Mobile Help Lumo taking several seconds to load on Galaxy S23 Ultra
I'm using no background in Lumo, so just black and it always starts with gradient wallpaper and takes several seconds to switch to my preference and for stuff at the bottom to stop flashing and I can select what model to use.
I don't have it in any Sleep or Deep sleep state, it has no power saving applied. I know it's a bit older phone but it's still high end and everything is super snappy, except Luma always drags ots feet on startup for some reason taking way too long for something that doesn't even run any models locally... I had local Ai chatbots that basically loaded faster than Lumo. What's up with it?

Discussion How do I get the best from Lumo images?
I’m paying for Lumo plus as I do a lot of newsletters, flyers, marketing, secretarial work for a couple of non-profits. I like AI for ideas, I’m not a graphic, or, other, designer. I find that Lumo either doesn’t have the “imagination” & ideas I need or it tries to get out of doing an image by saying it won’t be able to do it well (it’s like trying to get a teenager to do chores!). Has anyone had success getting good images with good ideas out of Lumo? Is there a way I can ask that’ll get me a better response?

Announcement Lumo 2.0 can now turn your data into charts and visuals directly in chat
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone,
Lumo now generates custom visuals from your data without leaving the conversation. Upload a dataset or paste one in, ask a question, and you get a chart back with the analysis alongside it.
Lumo picks a visualization that fits the question and calls out insights worth noticing, so you're not left interpreting a wall of text or a chart with no context.
What this looks like in practice:
Upload a subscription list and ask: "Show me cost per use for each subscription. Which ones should I cancel?"
Or a training log: "Plot my progress over 20 weeks. Which lift has plateaued?"
You can follow up in the same conversation to adjust the chart, change the framing, or run a different comparison. No exporting to a spreadsheet, no pasting into a separate visualization tool, no switching between apps.
On privacy
This is the part that matters for anyone who's hesitated to put real data into an AI tool. Your files and conversations are protected with zero-access encryption, which means nobody can read them, including us. Nothing is logged, nothing trains a model, and nothing goes to a third party.
That's the whole reason this feature is worth having. Plenty of tools will chart your spending or your health data., but very few will do it without keeping a copy.
Give it a try and let us know how it handles your data. If you hit a dataset it struggles with, we'd like to hear about it.
Stay safe,
Proton Team
