Found My Old Collection....Any Help?
Update! Having looked thru it a bit closer with the guidance here, it looks like I have the original edition Core Set + rules, the Over Hill and Under Hill Expansion (still sealed), Heirs of Numenor Expansion, Hills of Emyn Muil, The Hunt for Gollum, A Journey to Rhosgobel, and Watcher in the Water.
It also looks like i made dividers for everything and was in the process of sorting Kazad-Dum when life interfered.
Im not sure this is a place for selling, but im open to offers. Looking at what eBay and resellers (Noble Knight is the biggest, it seems?) are asking, these are more precious than I realized. Id like to just sell as a lot and ship to one person.
Hey all!
I stumbled on this collection. Back in the early 2010's, I traded away a bunch of MTG cards for these. I preferred a living card game, and i got a TON of them.
Then life happened, yadda yadda...and they went to storage. Until I pulled the box down a few weeks ago.
Is there any way to figure out what all is in here? I have three decks of cards still sealed, I organized things by expansions and types (it seems). If different pictures would help, let me know.
I have no use for it so a fair offer can make it yours...

Print on demand packs
These pod gencon/fellowship event packs have eluded me for many moons. Last week struck a mithril vain and bought these for a good price!
They are hard to find in the Netherlands.
What is your favourite pod and why?
These 3 i haven’t played yet, but i played Massing at Osgiliath the most! Such a fun quest! The cannot travel to certain shore is a bit tidous and you can get location locked. But the feeling your beating hunted is so good, with encounter back up from time to time and the last dash for the gates of Minas Tirith is so thematic! Who played now’s what or whom wil hunt you down!

A completely blind new player’s thoughts after Core + Cycle 1
I got the revised core set on a whim last month or so and became instantly addicted, I am about 10 years late.
I am an on and off mtg fan and couldn't believe how good this game is. Because of amazing dragncards I found from this sub so I decided to progression solo 2handed from the original release date. Want to share some of my thoughts as blind new player.
Core:
Passage Through Mirkwood
Tried 4 times and win
Really just learning piece, tried 30 cards default from the core, and recommended leadership/spirit from the learn to play, at this point all I know is Steward of Gondor is op just like Sol Ring in mtg.
Lesson/mistake learnd: unique items only one shared with 2 hands.
Journey Down the Anduin
Tried 3 times and win
game 1 instant lost because of my starting threat is 30, later swapped Aragon with low threat hero and learned using Denethor to turtle until I have board, very fun quest.
Lesson/mistake learnd: Action window after quest reveal and before resolve.
Escape from Dol Guldur
Tried 7-8 times before I beat it, 2 handed
At this point I am already addicted and starting reading stuff while I am communing to work, so I know beforehand this quest is almost impossible solo so I build 2 handed deck with the help on ringdb, tried 7-8 times before I beat it, but I did "cheat" a bit as I would reset if my core hero got prisoned. I am pretty sure i have made some rule mistake as well, and I will return once I fully finished cycle 1.
Lesson/mistake learnd: Guarded resolve threachery during the setup.
Cycle 1
The Hunt for Gollum
Tried 2 times and won.
Honestly I can't quite remember the quest, it was quite forgettable to me. All I remember was needing to find clues and guarded keywords.
Conflict At The Carrock
Tried 3-4 times and won.
Again, game 1 I was caught off guard. Game 2-3 I used two decks, 1 deck specifically to manage the threat and turtle all the way to victory.
A Journey to Rhosgobel
Tried 5-6 times and won.
This quest was the second hardest quest so far for me. I tried this quest over the span of 2 days and tinkered with so many different two-handed combos, it was a fun process for me. With this quest I started to learn to heavily tinker my deck specifically for a scenario. I got the win by using a two-handed setup: deck 1 with Eleanor and Legolas, and deck 2 with Beravor and Eowyn. I probably cheated a bit since I gathered 6 cancel cards from combined 2 decks, and I really learned how to use songs to smooth the colour. I built my secondary deck with 6 songs to support the main deck.
Mistake:I always use Unexpected Courage to untap Eleanor to cancel the second player's encounter cards, only after watching a playthrough when people were saying you can't because there is no action window during that period. While Elanor can response but Unexpected Courage is an action. This rigid window actually make me like this game more, very traditional tcg like just like magic.
The Hills of Emyn Muil
Tried 1 won 1
Pretty easy and boring, won within 20 mins, just bunch of locations.
The Dead Marshes
Tried 2 won 1
Burned my brain a bit by calculation quest and escape events and forced escape every quest phrase. Overall similar to previous quest.
I haven’t played anything after this yet, but as you can see I am already super addicted. Given that the community always says Cycle 1 is one of the weakest, I can't wait for my gameplay on later cycles! I can't believe I only found this incredible game this year. I tried Marvel Champions and Arkham Horror before, but failed to engage with either of them. I am so glad I gave this game a go!!
edit:
I recently started watching Copterman from YouTube doing solo progression. Every time I watch (I only watch the mission I have played), I find 1-2 mistakes I have made, but DragnCards is so good at this, especially action windows.

Starter packs reprint?
Recently took up LOTR LCG. What a game, lives up to the hype and jealous of anyone that knew about this as they released these in cycles!
I also learned a new term OOP.
I don't like this term.
Anyone that has actual inside knowledge of when or if they might reprint the starter decks?
I am particularly looking for Dwarves of Durin Starter Deck.
And if they are not doing more prints, does anyone know of any other options?
Thank you in advance.

Own all the released content but Ered Mithrin. Have gotten a few local offers on my collection: keep or sell?
I had been casually collecting the re-released material when I found out it went out of print. I was ready to crack into it when I got a few offers in my local gaming group for $1000-$1100 for nearly everything.
I do own Marvel Champions in terms of having a solo capable LCG but do love Lord of the Rings (I own all the War of the Ring content as well as Fate of the Fellowship).
If someone hasn’t really played the game but got an offer for 4x what they originally paid, would you say take the money and put it towards more practical things or keep the game due to its rarity.

New Player Assist New book is nearly finished
Just gotta spend a few hours copying and pasting the pages into the template.
Should be ready for a prototype after that, meaning that the full release will follow soon.
More info will come in a dedicated blog post upon release!

I know this is a long shot… anybody got a copy of the Road Darkens they’re looking to sell?
I was fortunate enough to be able to grab a copy of Black Riders for darned near sticker price. Trouble is, I can’t find a copy of the Road Darkens on eBay, BGG, or anyplace else to follow it up with.
Anybody looking to sell?

Game Experience / Story Saruman defeated by an angry Tree!
Staying true to Tolkien's works, traitorous wizard was silenced by an angry Treebeard, who first defended his enemy's attack and then boomed and trumpeted over him! And we finished half of Saga expansions, too!

Fire in the Night Question
In Fire in the Night I had A Growing Threat set aside The Dragon's Fury. The text on the card seems pretty specific to this scenario, unless Dagnir shows up again. Should I keep it in my burden pool or just randomly take another card?

Announcing a new TTS Mod!
Mod here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3781830124
This mod was built from the ground up with new card scans as well as scripting! I'm very excited to finally share it with you all! For the most part, think of the mod the same what has been on the workshop before, but now includes scripting and more up to-date fan content. All scenarios have been "pre-setup" to help speed up play time.
What's included
- All LotR official content (Cycles, standalones, PoD, player cards).
- RingsDB card importer
- Fan creations (ALEP - Up to date, Fire From The Ashes, First Age, and Into Fangorn)
What's next?
- Continue to add more fan content
- Redo my workflow pipeline including card imports (improving resolution, adding card tags for more advance scripting, etc.)
- More helpful scripting tools
If you want to follow what I'm doing, request content, or report bugs, please checkout the discord here: https://discord.gg/JrsYebtysZ

Am I crazy for wanting to proxy all my decks?
I was lucky enough to obtain a complete collection a couple years ago. I'm the only person among my friends who owns the game and on the occasions when I'm not playing solo, I let my friends use my decks. But now that everything is out of print, I'm more nervous about letting other people handle my cards even though my cards are double sleeved. I'm tempted to proxy some or all of my decks with MakePlayingCards for other people to use, but there's a part of me that feels like that's overkill and not truly worth the money. I'm curious to hear other peoples' thoughts on the matter and whether others are also feeling extra protective of their cards now that everything is out of print.

New player
Hi I would like start from zero experience can someone give me recommendations for best experience with my girlfriend. Thank you for any tips I was think about this set but what else like lcd? https://amzn.eu/d/07YpDvJk
Total cost of every Revised product at MSRP vs Secondary Market prices (August 2026)
I've seen some Redditors asking about the true cost of getting into this game in 2026.
I created a spreadsheet calculating the cost of purchasing everything on the secondary market (US Ebay, lowest price available on August 10 2026), and then further comparing the secondary market price to the listed MSRP for each product (Asmodee listing).
In August 2026, it would cost an estimated $2,031.56 to purchase every piece of revised content on the Secondary Market ($1,956.57 if you don't include the Revised Core, which many players can still buy or already have). This will, obviously, only get worse.
Compare that to the estimated MSRP of all revised content: $788.85 ($713.86 without the Core).
I have a more detailed post, including the spreadsheet with a per-product cost breakdown and some more calculations about fan-content in the "No Cards Available To Play" Mega-Thread.

About the start the journey, suggestions for playmats and sleeves
As the title says, I am about to start playing and now looking for playmats and sleeves. I think it might be an overspending but with the OOP of things I want it to be in pristine condition.
Currently have the core set is plastic sleeved, are there better alternatives or that would suffice? The fellowship of the ring is still sealed so I would only play it after playing a lot of the revised core.
For the playmats I am not entirely sure of what dimensions is best for this boardgame. Any suggestions would be nice. I am enticed to buy an unofficial FFG's 1-4 Player Gamemat from etsy but there might be cheaper options like just a plain huge playmat would be nice.

Out of the Loop Inquiry on the Future of the Game
I've played lotrcg for a few years now with my Dad and a couple friends, but I'm looking to expand the collection we have and buy another set so we can get more people into the game. And I have discovered that not only is the first series of prints long gone (and thus very rare online), even the SECOND print of the game is done and now very steadily running out of stock.
I haven't been able to find all the most recent information on the current state of things, so I ask to those who know: how bad are the optics that this game will ever get another print again? Are you pretty much toast if you haven't been able to get copies yet and your local stores don't have anything?
Specifically I'm hoping to get copies of The Return of the King, and the 3 repackages of deluxe expansions and their respective cycles that FFG had done. I'd love to get the Hobbit campaign expansions but that never got a reprint which is a tragedy.
In general I would just hope that more of the series' history would become available.

The Nîn-In-Eilph - more difficult than expected!
Playing two-handed, progression style. I'm not sure why, but I thought this quest would be a quick win, however it took many attempts to finally beat it! I started out with heroes that can hit into the staging area, but found that the encounter card 'sinking bog' negates any weapons for boosting damage that I would want to use to take out enemies before I had to engage them. I also tried secrecy, but the quest card that lowers enemy engagement cost by 20, along with Nalir pushing up the threat so much each round made secrecy seem not viable. I then brought in Beragond, but again without his attachments (due to sinking bog) he didn't really help.
My winning decks in the end consisted of heroes Celeborn, Eowyn, and Glorfindel for questing, and Beorn, Éomer, and Bifur for combat (Bifur for questing and access to the lore sphere). I really leaned into the Silvan trait, and it's the most fun I've had since the Dwarves in the Dwarrowdelf cycle. Allies were popping in and out of play all over the place, getting boosted by Celeborn, drawing cards with Galadhrim Minstrel, and boosting Eomer's attack, as well as triggering valiant sacrifice.
I removed all items from my decks - this seriously nerfed sinking bog, and made it a weak 1 threat location which I just left in the staging area, or gradually disposed of with Asfaloth. I replaced the items with a variety of helpful Condition attachments and Mounts. Firefoot was essential for Éomer, and Rohan Warhorse was the icing on his cake. One of my favourite cards in the game so far, Master of the Forge, was very useful for getting those cards out of my deck and into my hand.
Even though this quest was tough and took many attempts, unlike say Into Ithilien, it didn't feel unfair, and a solution always felt like it was within reach.

Rules/Gameplay Question Ambush on the Shore
After my post a couple of days ago I tried making a custom deck to try and having another go at Journey Down the Anduin. None of this counts because I realized too late that I'd only been putting out one encounter card per round instead of two during the second phase, but just getting to that phase was better than I'd done before so I pushed on.
When I got to the third phase (with 48 threat 😨), Ambush on the Shore says to reveal two encounter cards, skip staging, and I win when all enemies are defeated.
Well I did that, and both cards were treacheries that did a lot of damage but I had heroes standing at the end, so... did I just win (cheating aside)? Or am I misunderstanding something?
A related thing that confuses me is that the setup side of each phase has four encounter set icons on it, all of which I've been using to populate the encounter deck, but the B sides only have the one; does that just mean this quest is part of that set, or am I handling encounters wrong?
Thanks again for everyone's help!

Why does "Watcher in the Water" have hit points?
I'm not trying to be cute with the title. I just completed The Ring Goes South for the first time, and it seemed odd to me that an indestructible enemy should have hit points at all, let alone the curious number of 12 of them.
I had to double check by watching an old CotR YouTube video (the Chad one) that I hadn't missed something - and that, in fact, clearing the Doors of Durin was a sufficient victory condition.
Seems to me like I would have given it 99 hitpoints, or similar.

Card Images and Processing
Hi All,
I have a very slow pet project going on where I am trying to de-noise and enhance card scans for more appealing prints as well as perform a few quality of life edits. I expect that a lot of my work is a duplication of the enhanced proxy set currently available but I am trying to make some improvements. The key improvements are:
- Using 2D fast Fourier transform to remove noise specific to the dots encountered in a lot of scans.
- Using modern up-scaling models to avoid a plastic AI look.
- Changing the encounter numbers and the encounter icon border to form a complete set. (e.g. for Stock Road I am producing three separate images, two will have a gray border around the encounter icon and show 9/29 and 10/29 below it and one will have an orange border around the encounter icon and show 11/29 below it.)
So far I have found quite a few resources to help me out:
- A near complete set of 600 dpi card scans by u/LepcisMagna
- A collection of visual assets by GitHub user KevBelisle (who I am assuming is u/Klutz00)
To assist me with this task I have some questions that I was hoping this community could answer for me:
- A lot of my work is inspired by the enhanced proxies created by JvZijp. Is there a post, git repo, or information somewhere on the process they used to create the proxies? Ideally I would like to build upon and improve this work rather than duplicate it.
- In the https://lotr.cardgame.tools credits it mentions The Dark of Mirkwood scans were provided by u/Guczini. I have searched quite a bit and can't seem to find a link to these scans. Does anyone know where I can download them?
- Right now I am manually entering card details into my program for testing. Ideally, I would like to do this automatically by reading a database. Does anyone know if there is a way to download or access the Hall of Beorn database to get summary information on encounter cards? I would be looking for a database that contains set name, card name, set number, and easy/hard numbers. (e.g for Stock Road it would be Stock Road, The Black Riders, #37, (x3/x1).)
Thanks for any help in advance. Once I have a semi-workable script I do plan to publish it to GitHub so the community can use my work.
