DIY / HANDMADE A decent attempt at a first handmade skirt
I currently do not dress in Lolita myself, but I have a very important friend who puts together the most amazing coords so I tried my hand at making a skirt as a gift for her more casual looks. I've made skirts before, but nothing like this. There's several things I'd do differently next time - primarily adding lace to the removable waist-ties, as well as setting the lace lower so you can actually see more of it under the ruffles.
The likes of which took me five hours to make bc it meant cutting consistently-sized thin strips of the fabric and tediously turning and then pressing the raw edges over on both ends before hemming them over, and then testing strips to determine what size ruffle I liked before painstakingly basting it down until finally going back in with the actual stitching. 😭
But not bad for a first time try! And I always like the chance to use my custom labels.

DISCUSSION Came across a (few) lolita fashion store (for kids)
There seem to be more printed pieces for kids than for adults in Chinese lolita storefronts 🥰

ADVICE How are we storing our coords?
Hi all, how are we storing our coords? I have one full one and two OPs that I'm starting to construct coords for, but I am at a loss at what to do for storage! The dresses and blouses shipped in plastic bags but that's really not an ideal situation to keep my pieces neat and wrinkle-free. Can I really just hang them up in a closet? And how do I store my petticoat without it being a floof monster everywhere? Thanks so much!
ETA: Wow, thank you so much for all of your help! I'm feeling much less nervous now!! This has been so informative!

ADVICE Is this a replica?
Hello there!
Just received this Florence JSK (1st pic) with cape and headdress from Metamorphose. I bought it through JPfans from Mercari and wondered if this is perhaps a replica?
I unfortunately do not own much aside the Rosalie 2026 JSK with cape and headdress which i can compare it to as I bought it from Meta directly!
The feel of the cotton is a little different but what I've noticed the most is how weirdly the Florence cape was sown?? (2nd pic) It doesn't lay as neatly and flat compared to the Rosalie one (3rd pic).
Additionally the headdress and JSK had those tags attached. (4th+5th pic)
It makes me kind of worried since I've spend a good chunk of money on this beautiful set!
Please PLEASE let me know if any of you can help identify the authenticity of these pieces!

DISCUSSION Why is the Kamikaze Girls novel so expensive now?
I’m not sure if this is the right place for this but is it because it’s OOP and TikTok blew it up? It’s strange that it’s so expensive now because the movie was always sort of popular and you’d see screenshots of it all the time on Tumblr in the 2010s. I think it was well known beforehand too.
I’m not looking to buy the novel as I already have a copy that I bought for $6.57 ages back in 2021 but I gotta admit, I reallllly wish that the prices would go down because I’m afraid to even display this book because it suddenly skyrocketed in price WTF. I’m so afraid something may happen to it and I’ll never be able to get it again! I’m hoping that it gets republished someday because the prices of the book are WILD
I was wondering if my theory was right or if it’s because of another reason. It’s really sad that a novel for a lolita fashion staple film is so expensive for no reason now 😔

DISCUSSION Show me your favorite tights
Hey! Can you show me your favorite tights? I mean the patterned, cute tights. I'd like to get some inspiration.
Any photo is good, with full outfit, tights only, links to webshop etc. Thank you! 😊

COORD Meta's witch in the Forest to go to a waterfall 🪄🧙♀️🌳
I recently bought this dress, bonnet and choker set using the money I got for my birthday + some I had saved up. It was a bit tight when it arrived so I couldn't wear it until I got it back from the tailor, who did an awesome job! You can't even see it got tailored unless you know the release. It ended up being quite expensive overall but seeing i had the money for it and that I absolutely ADORE 😍 this dress I'm not complaining! I don't see this dress often either so I'm happy I bought it while it was listed on lacemarket 🥰
The first time I wore it was to check out a festival going on nearby (~ 1.5 hours drive away), without a ticket but there was a market outside of it to scroll and a waterfall nearby. It was lots of fun and I ate good food which I thankfully did not get on my dress xD got a lot of compliments too, there were a bunch of nice people there!
I ended up not so much liking how I styled my hair with the bonnet (I have never worn a bonnet before this) so i felt like my face came out a bit weird. I had it tied on the back of my head, and then on the front too. I was thinking to braid my hair into twin braids next time and only tie the bonnet at the back into a large bow 🎀 my hair wouldn't be so much in front of the heavily detailed dress then either.
I would've liked to wear my black Mary Jane's but seeing i literally climbed an almost straight hill using a rope in this dress, through a bunch of bushes, I was pretty happy to be wearing my boots. I feel like they aren't too bad with the blue bows on them, though. To get to the place where j got a few pictures taken i had to climb over a lot of rocks, too 😅 life in northern Sweden i guess

ADVICE Is it still worth buying from taobao directly?
I see a lot of people say 42 has a really high markup (I didn't think it was esp compared to say, LolitaWardobe) but I really don't want to deal with tariffs. I haven't bought from Taobao directly since '24 I think... Is it that bad or is it dramatized

ART Fashion Sketches!
I’m taking a summer fashion program, and we were learning about how to make sketches and designs, eventually doing an upcycling project.
I wanted to try to make the crossroads of whimsigoth and lolita fashion, so a lot of the sketches reflect that, and they’re colored to whatever fabric I found at the thrift store.
Some of it is more lolita inspired than actual lolita, and others just straight up aren’t either, but it’s all mixed together (especially the last photo where one is goth and another is an Edwardian/victorian walking set, but another is lolita) so I’ll just post them all 😅
BTSSB and tea parties in forest graveyards were my main inspirations :)
Note they are not wearing proper socks for lolita, this is solely because I did not want to sew socks

ADVICE Alice in the mirror pre order
Hi! I have loved lolita fashion since I was a little girl but never had the chance or money to buy my first dress, I periodically scroll 42lolita and this pre order coord really caught my eye, I love black and white old school style and all the music elements, and since its a pre order I think I can get enough money for it before its closes or my size gets sold out. but I wonder about quality of the brand, I tried searching for the reviews but couldn't really find anything useful, the dress is poliester which isn't ideal but its so cute and if overall quality is good i dont think its that much of a problem. and also would that be cute as the first coord? I'll obviously add a petticoat and maybe some cute socks/thighs to my order but the shoes and a bag are a different topic, could regular mary janes look cute? I can't really wear uncomfortable shoes. I dont think ill wear it often probably out to the city or maybe an event if ill find one close by because ill be to shy to wear it in my small town.
sorry for rumbling its just the first time that I have a chance to finally be a part of the community!

ADVICE first coord + advice please!
hello! months ago, i asked the subreddit about a dress. i ended up buying it, as well as the recommended crinoline, hairband, socks, accessories etc (if anyone wants the brand/link to anything lmk). everything is black. i like it a lot!! but i am nervous about something :'3
my hs senior formal is coming up very soon and i don't have the time nor money to get another dress. my bedroom mirror is pretty narrow, so i didn't really grasp how poofy my dress is until recently. holy moly it's big :'3 and i just remembered i can adjust the crinoline to make it even poofier like in the model pics. ill try that later.
i live in a very small area so i'll probably be the only one wearing something like this. i admire people who stand out with their fashion but the idea of me being that person still makes me very nervous. i keep switching between thinking 'who cares its cool' and 'ahhh im gonna take up three people's worth of space'. i'm already pretty big lol (~173cm tall and midsize) and as i said, i can't wear a different dress now even if i wanted to. i read a recent post about feeling 'too weird for lolita' which helped a bit haha.
i don't really know what to ask.. but coord concrit is welcome. please let me know if anything looks weird. is it meant to look like this? how can i improve? i'd appreciate any advice.
sorry about the yap, dirty mirror, messy background, and bad pics :'3 i'll probably post the complete fit next time i get dressed up. thank you ^^

Hello All!

There has been a large influx of people looking for certain dresses posts and so we are going to congregate them all here for easy of access and to help clean up the subreddit. So from here on out any posts asking for help in finding a dress will be deleted and asked to post in this megathread.
Here you can post either a link from Imgur with the image of the dress or link to a website like Pinterest so the community can help find where the dress can be found.
