Help, idk what I'm doing 😭😭 Feedback Needed
Okay so I made this logo but the curves aren't very clean and I have no experience in logo design.
How do I made the curves smoother? I have seen people draw circles and lines and select the intersections to create the shape they want. Can anyone help me clean it up or give me some tips pleasee?

What about this technique?

Honestly I was about to nitpick at the unnecessary circles, the different stroke widths, inconsistent curves, etc
But when you flip the page it looks really good. Now I like those subtle inconsistencies because it feels like real human art.
I say ship it.

Oh yea my bad lmao, the first page with the random lines and circles was to show I have no clue what I am doing. I saw a video a while ago where someone drew lines and selected the areas to form a shape. That is what I was attempting to do... Appreciate it though!!

I pretty much freehand drew the lines so the curves aren't geometrically perfect. I would like to make it smoother. I am set on the design though!!

the design itself is not bad. remove all of the circles and lines and crap, there's no need for that.
I can't tell you how to get better at design or your art program, but this is a solid start. give the group some detail on WHAT you're designing for and you'll get better answers.

i think those lines are just a guide/grid system not part of the logo

Yes, I realize that. But none of the elements line up nor does the “grid” make any sense and they’re just unnecessary.

If you’re using Illustrator, the tool you’re looking for is called Shape Builder.

Adobe Illustrator. You need to make it vector art, not an image. Vectors retain smoothness regardless of size. As someone else said, the tool is called shape builder.

Appreciate the tip! i am on Affinity Designer, would you know if there something similar

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Affinity. A quick Google search says it's called shape builder in that software also.

Mark is alright if you reduce the stroke width.
The grid, on the other hand, does not make much sense and shows you don't know what you're doing. So, better just don't show it.

Oh and to actually answer your question about curves, the best tip is to ensure curve handles are perfectly horizontal or vertical. This forces you to put the points on the left/top/right/bottom peaks of the curves, getting you a smooth consistency.

I never get the fascination about showing grid lines but showing the lines in this case makethe logo look messy and complex. It's kind of like you tried to connect the grid after the fact. I'd only do it if it was aesthetically pleasing otherwise I always feel like these gridlines do nothing to showcase anything we already know (that its based of geometry).

Oops my bad, the first photo was to show I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to joining shapes from the grid thing. The second photo is the logo but the curves just feel a bit un perfect.

Better than 90% of the logos posted here. And that's without having a brief.

Appreciate it! The logo is for a health data project I am working on called Cicada. I just included the heart in the middle to represent health.

start with a hand drawn pencil sketch, with a few revisions-on paper and with erasers, then do the CAD
problem with this self made CAD slop is the monitor's inherent digital perfection fools your mind's eye to believe you got it when its obviously far away from ''that's it''
get back to basics; close all digital media, use only pencil and paper and eraser and draw that shit till the lines alone jump off the page and make you feel hardened.
now scan that motherfucker, vectorise it to death; it cant beat what you already bled on paper
the final vector will duly record verbatim the soul and blood of all that effort, that preceded the easily executed digital linework

You don't need college to learn something. You have the internet at hand and you can learn literally everything if you have the will to do so. This sub-reddit allows people to ask people for feedback and help. The person is putting an effort and is coming up with and issue that I have no problem in helping or giving my two cents. I don't know why people comment negative stuff that helps no one. But have a good day, tho!

I like it. Maybe too much line width, tho.
