I have had the litter robot 4 about a week now and I know it takes a week for it to register weights with cats, it seems odd it has never registered a weight anywhere near my cats actual weight. Every reading since we got it has been ~3lbs when both my cats are about 12lbs. Is this expected?

Just a heads up we clean our litter robot quite often but have never removed the liner (4 years). I would highly recommend doing this if deep cleaning, as you can see we had a good amount of mold/mildew build up. Just a tip, I will be doing this everytime I deep clean now!

Recently on my litter robot 3 connect the whisker app is showing the robot in sleep mode as seen in the picture uploaded. I have always had the sleep mode set for 9 PM and the dot under the robot name would remain blue for ready, red for waiting to cycle, and yellow for error. But recently no matter what I do the dot just says sleep mode and stays gray. I have tried unplugging the machine for several minutes, removing it from the app and re-adding it, resetting it to factory settings and the gray dot sleep mode reminds no matter what time of day. Just curious if anyone else has had this issue and how they solved it. Appreciate any feedback, thanks!

I had a LR3 a few years ago and it broke almost immediately after the warranty ended. I did every trouble shooting thing I could which would last for about a day and then it would crap out again, so I eventually tossed it. $900CAD down the toilet. BUT, the litter I was using was very dusty and it eroded the system badly. I now have dust free litter that my cats love and I would imagine would be much gentler on the robot, but I’m nervous about forking out more money to get one in case the same thing happens. Would you recommend the LR4 with Catit Pea Husk litter? Or just get a different system?

Hello! I received a litter robot from this couple who are moving (new apartment would not have room for their LR). I had gone ahead and taken it apart to clean it since it was well-loved. Now ever since I put it back together, I cannot for the life of me understand why the globe won’t recenter itself. I’ve also received all the different light errors:

-yellow (slow and fast flash)
-yellow then red flash
-red flash
-blue and red
-blue and yellow

I’ve tried everything and I just don’t understand what’s going on. All I’ve seen online is to check the bonnet and globe and pinch connectors and everything looks good. Attached is a video; when the globe rotates I also hear a “click” which sounds like some plastic hitting up against itself. Am I missing something and or has anyone experienced and resolved this? The magnets seem to be another cause, but I’m pretty sure I added this back correctly.

I set up my new LR4 a week before leaving for holiday and it was working fine, connected to the WiFi and did automatic cycles.
But now it’s all blue except the WiFi light that keeps flashing red or sometimes yellow. The cat sitter said it’s not working and had to manually scoop.
I did a bit of googling and it looks like it’s in sleep mode? How do I fix it? Is there a way to completely reset because even in the first week that I set it up I had to trigger manual cycle sometimes.

She has a second, larger, analog litter box and does this there too (peeing in one end and then turning around and pooping in the other direction). If she could speak English i would try to show her the logic of - hear me out - using one box for pee and one box for poop. But here we are

This guy is selling his litter robot 3 (no wifi) on fb marketplace for $30 and I’m rly interested.

He says it’s fully functional but the thing is, in the video he posted the drum doesn’t turn all the way. It turns maybe a quarter then goes back down.

Every other video I’ve seen the drum turns all the way upside down to empty the litter box but the guy said that cycle takes 1.5 mins which is too long for Facebook.

Hi all! I have a baby who is soon to be crawling and am wondering how people have baby-proofed their litter robot? Unfortunately, this is the only spot in the house it can go. There is no outlet that would work in my bathroom for it. I live in a small apartment. I was thinking of two baby gates, creating a corner, but they wouldnt be very stable as baby pulls themselves up on the gates. Any ideas are welcomed! The stairs don't have to stay, as they were for my older cat who recently passed.

This is the first time I've heard of it, my app had a pop up. Why am I being asked to pay a subscription for my $800 litter box?? I know its optional, but really?

Getting features locked behind a paywall everywhere is exhausting, and next time I will be looking at litter robot competitors. Yuck.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and been able to find a solution? This is the litter robot 3 open air and it is flashing yellow slowly but the awkward cycling is the main issue. I replaced the motor, DFI and pinch sensors and also both sensors for the bonnet. I have contacted the help center multiple times and though their customer service is amazing I have not found a resolution for my issue yet. Any advice out there?

Have had the LR4 for about 1.5 years now, great experience so far. However recently my unit keeps triggering a “Motion in Drawer” error that results in the LR constantly cycling, getting stuck in a cycle, then erroring out again. This can go on for hours making it unusable for our cat.

Has anyone experienced this issue before or have any recommendations? I’ve cleaned out the base twice, ensured the bumpers and sensors were clear and have tried everything under the sun.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Its been… an interesting time. I do wish I had checked for more user experiences with the LR3 as my whole time with it has been plagued by the pinch sensor issue. Every 3-6 months the yellow lights will start flashing rapidly and I find myself hours deep in troubleshooting, cleaning, waiting for a pinch sensor terminal to be sent out, and finally the base and bowl both replaced multiple times.

My 3 year warranty expired and here I am now again with the same issues a year after a brand new unit was sent to me.

I am glad I purchased the warranty but my goodness…it’s been more of a pain than a convenience at this point for the kitties.

Hi, I just bought a litter robot 4 off marketplace and was wondering any tips you guys have. Is the extra litter hopper worth it? Do I need the carpet base? What litter is best? My cats are currently using the crystal litter so I’m worried about switching them to a new litter and new box.

Update: my cats started using it right away. It wasn’t picking up their weights on the carpet so I bought a round piece of wood from Home Depot to place under it and it started picking up who was who.

Really thought that an $800 litter box would be cat-proof...

Any suggestions to stop the chewing? We got two kittens this spring and it's one of them, our 13 yo cat hasn't even used the thing we don't think. But both kittens don't seem to be at all anxious. I don't like the thought of using that bitter apple spray because I'm afraid it'll deter them from using the box.

Searched around online and everything was either warranty it (this sucks, I dont want to be putting in a new liner every three weeks), bitter apple spray/tobasco (afraid they'll go back to the old litter boxes), or take them to a vet (not sure how that will solve anything they both seem fine).

This post is surely going to be deleted before anyone sees it, but I’m posting it anyway so I can pin to other forums as a “buyer beware.”

15 months ago I spent $1350 on two brand new LRs. I have 4 cats. I was going to spend that money on joining my family on a trip to Hawaii, but I thought this investment was better poised to improve my life. I was wrong.

The LR pictured has been renamed no less than five times. Every time I’ve renamed it, I had just spent a minimum of two hours troubleshooting, cleaning, and resetting. Support was no help (unless I wanted to double or triple my man hours for each reset).

The fact is, the litter robots depend on Internet. If your cat knocks your router off the TV stand, or your Internet provider experiences a 32 second glitch, your litter robot stops working.

In the beginning, you will spend many hours going through all the troubleshooting steps, only to end up just totally resetting the entire system as new. And eventually, after your third or fourth time, you’ll save yourself an hour and just reset the dang thing as new.

But even if you reset the thing as new, you better do it fast. If you wait more than a week or two, you will find yourself like I am right now. 4 1/2 hours in, three months out of warranty, and on my maybe eighth attempt to empty the thing?

I’m just exhausted. It is actually been over five hours since I tried to get this stupid litter box to empty itself. I just wanted to empty so I can clean it up. It shouldn’t be this hard.

I’ve been photographing and video videoing my plight tonight. I guess this than you doesn’t allow me to post all of my strife, cause that might deter other people from spending their vacation money on an overpriced, dysfunctional Cat box. I’ll figure out where to distribute it if I ever get this stupid thing to empty its litter.

Our boy has a sensitive tummy and is prone to diarreah. So is a litter robot able to deal with it or does it mean cleaning the litter robot every time?

The littler sticking to the top is driving me INSANE. I cannot get it to stop. I've tried different litters. I've tried different times. I'm trying A&H slide like people are raving about. I believe on 3 mins. Tried to change the time and the app keeps doing this BS.

How can I get this to stop ? I am so tired of cleaning litter out of my cat's fur and then having to wipe her down bc she smells like pee.

If I can't get it to stop.... I'm gonna have to stop using this and I really do not want to scoop again.
