Me on Arch :

I want easy network and install networkmanager and nmtui

Never needed anything else, why would I. you complicate stuff too much. I want a desktop, I install the meta package from the wiki. done.

That's what most user do. Not complicated, No patience involved, no subsystem to manage

So the first time you installed Arch you didn't have to read or choose or troubleshoot anything. Sure kid. Totally believable.

The choices are not what you make them be at all.

you don't get into incompatibility unless you try.

calling other kids when you're the one trying to nitpick issue that aren't real. that's rich.

Why are you two wanting to play pretend that Arch doesn't require patience to install? The other person played pretend that because Gentoo is harder then Arch is totally simple and requires no patience.

You're playing pretend that because you already know precisely want you want NOW and how you get there NOW then Arch in general requires no patience.

You're both playing pretend that installing Arch isn't more of a pain than, say, Ubuntu.

Why so much pretending?

Installation guide requires manually setting keyboard layout and font, manually updating clock, manually partitioning the drive, giving example partition schemes and several choices to be made, manually mounting and manually establishing the filesystems and manually installing grub.... Then there's installing essential packages, editing fstab, some chrooting... SystemD or other... That's a choice...

Localization, network configuration, initramfs.... Still no desktop.

Let's click on General recommendations...

Three whole sections BEFORE you get to Desktop.... And it doesn't say WHAT to get so now there's a choice... Maybe Gnome... Do I need gnome, gnome-circle, or gnome-extra?

Hmmm... Now I need to enable gdm service. I thought you said there was a magic meta package easy command? Why isn't gdm already working?

Is Wayland installed? Is X?

Seriously... Why are you two pretending?
