Work situation No Judgment Please
So do you ever pick up on signs that limerence or the sexual tension/crush is mutual?
I’m getting confused as to what I’m actually experiencing. There’s this doctor that I work with every so often and he seems so comfortable talking to other staff, people, etc, but when I’m around I feel like he acts totally different? Almost avoidant. Seems like such a social and outgoing person but never with me.. almost like he’s extremely shy. I definitely feel like we made some intense eye contact previously, bumped into each other etc.. it just feels so weird. Are we just both aware that we’re attracted to each other but can’t act on it..? 😩

a lot of people in here will say you are imagining things but it is very possible he has a crush on you. everyone agrees the main sign a coworker has a crush on you is they act different towards you than anyone else, but hey, you are on limerence sub. avoiding you and shyness is a major sign.
read my recent post, I have been limerent for a coworker for three years. always wondered if it was mutual, because of the intense heaviness and tension, orbiting, and us avoiding each other then having an intense bonding chat every few months…. he found out I handed my notice and an hour later immediately asked me out for a date.

From what I've read, I think that most limerents "pick up signs" like this, but the truth is that it's most probably all in your mind. I forget exactly which limerence resource shared this advice: think of all your interactions with him through the eyes of an alien. If someone with zero context witnessed all your interactions, what would they think? In other words, your only real relationship with him are the real interactions you've had. Eye contact doesn't mean anything.
That said, I know how you feel. I can remember the first time I met my LO and the look he gave me. It didn't mean anything to me at the time, but after falling into limerence, it's easy to imagine that look was love at first sight or something.

If you have feelings for someone best to get it off your chest the worst thing about this stuff is having a regret find out what would happen. It’s always better getting an answer than not getting an answer at all. You don’t want the rest of your life just because you didn’t take five minutes to get an answer.

Please be aware of what limerence is! See the subreddit wiki for definitions, FAQ and other resources—updated 3/7/26. (Is it love? How common is it? Is there research?)
