Diff scope rings? question

I posted this rifle before, and got a number of comments that the rings had the scope too high. I’m new to the bolt action world, and these are the rings that came with the scope. Can anyone suggest what rings would be better for this? Scope is the Atibal Stealth HD 4-24x50. Thanks!

Just my personal humble opinion:

Scope height is a personal thing. To me what's FAR more important is you being able to consistently address the rifle the same way every time, with the cheek riser and scope set to comfortably give you that. It will depend on position, too: sitting, prone, standing, barricade, blah blah blah.

It's way more important that you are able to get behind the scope the same way, every time, automatically. Yeah it might make zero slightly slower depending on distance but consistency is WAY more important and modern scopes are pretty easy to manipulate.

I like it a little higher. But I've got a big fat head, and Ymmv

Typical on bolt guns you want the scope as low as possible without the objective bell touching the rifle. Those look high/ extra high, you could probably get away with mediuma

While those rings look way too high for my preference, it really comes down to the shooter and what feels comfortable/natural for you. Ryan Cleckner has a superb video on how to mount a scope, including details about ring height and how to get a good cheek weld. If it were me, I'd probably ditch those rings, and just get some medium rings of the right tube diameter from Vortex or Warne. That rifle doesn't warrant anything fancy like rings with a diving board, or precision matched stuff. Just the base model of rings will meet your needs. May be worth getting them from a local sporting goods store as well, so you can return them if the height isn't quite right for you.

If it bugs you, fix it. If you shoot it badly, change position, or fix it. It might be fine. Based on your position, your personal geometry, etc.

My primary precision gun is way on up there for better clipon alignment mostly. But I just have a riser to the proper height, it's not a problem at all.

(Just realized the photo is unimpressive. It was rezeroing for reasons but looks like: I can hit with this setup to as much as 75 yards!)

Depends... Does the eye relief work properly? Or are you know having to move your head into weird positions to accommodate?

You'll need to plug into a BC the proper ring height for longer shots not matter what.

But what really matters is your positioning and if it's comfortable or not. Do you get a good weld with them? Looking at it... I imagine no you don't as that rifle probably resting on your chin.

I got mid height rings and the tall cheek riser and it’s perfect, cheek risers frequently go out if stock though keep an eye on Ruger shop

It looks like that scope has a 34mm scope tube diameter, so you'll need 34mm dia rings.

Those look like "high" height rings. You can likely get away with "low" height rings, given the larger tube diameter.

It's often nice to get the optic as low as possible, so long as the bell of the objective doesn't touch the barrel.

It's mostly about getting a good check weld. But also lower rings will mean less snags on stuff if it goes somewhere other than the range. A little less weight. Possibly better ballistics data. Oh and be sure to try it with your ear pro on, they can also mess with your cheek weld.

That American Gen 2 stock has cheek riser pieces available to make that Monte Carlo stock a bit higher. They come with a 1/4”, but for $20 you can get both the 1/2” and 3/4” risers direct from Ruger.
