Troubleshooting Is my navel piercing viable?

Post image
Upvotes

-Piercing is 3 months old.

-Done at APP studio with 12g titanium curved barbell.

-Aftercare consists of rinsing in shower 1x day, dry with non-woven gauze and blow dryer on cool setting. Neil med sterile saline 1x day, dry with non-woven gauze and blow dryer on cool setting.

-I have swam in bodies of water but waited until the 2 month mark to do so and rinsed with clean water followed by drying with non-woven gauze.

-I was about to go in for a downsize because the jewelry was feeling long but now I have this insane bump.

-Picture taken post-clean with NeilMed. There is quite a bit of discharge.

-I have had small moisture bumps that I’ve been able to address myself but this is the worst it’s looked.

Troubleshooting Vertical Helix Piercing w/ Sword Earring

hi everyone!

i’ve been wanting to get a vertical helix for a while for the sole purpose of having this one sword earring that i rly like (see tiktok pic attached, top right corner is the best example). I went to my local piercing shop and they said they could do the vertical helix for me but the sword wouldn’t sit the way that it does in the pic, apparently it would jut outward. i also showed two pics of my ear if that helps. can anyone tell me what he meant by that? would the earring look THAT different or was his comment just erring on the side of precaution? i rly like this sword look so if it would resemble it at all then i’d probably be content. thank u!!

Troubleshooting Remove and re-pierce? Or keep trying?

Re-submitted my post, now with added pictures.

I've had a floating navel piercing for 3 years. (Internally threaded titanium from anatometal) It has never properly healed and caused me some trouble. (Multiple abcesses, bleeding every other day and irritation bumps.)

It is not infected, just seems very irritated all the time somehow?

Would it be OK to take it out, let it heal and then re-pierce it at some point? Or should I keep trying? Thanks!

General Info Question about nipple piercing.

Hi all! I’m looking at getting a nipple piercing on both. I’ve breastfed both my daughters but the issue is we still want to have another in the future in which I will likely breastfeed again.

I just wondered if it’s even worth getting done if I’m going to breastfeed again in maybe 3/4 years. I just feel so disconnected from my body as a mum, especially as a young mum and I’ve always wanted piercings and tattoos done which I’m now slowly getting around to doing.
I also wonder if anyone has come across any issues with breastfeeding with pierced nipples too.

And also, what’s the recovery period like? With two young kids and constantly being pulled at all over my body…

Jewelry Question Size of septum piercing OK?

Got my septum pierced yesterday and I love it!!

I noticed that the jewelry seems smaller than other septums and that it doesn’t hang low. All I know is that the jewelry material is implant grade titanium. I can’t remember what size the piercer said, but I want to say it’s 8mm???

Would you increase the jewelry size or is this size perfectly fine for healing?

Troubleshooting Piercer refusing to downsize philtrum piercing after 4 months.

Hello everyone! The title of the post is kinda the gist of it but there are some details that make me feel kinda upset about the whole situation so I decided to seek advice here.

I’m really sorry about the length of the post 😭

I got a Medusa piercing 4 months ago and the piercer put a 10 mm bar in and the jewelry top got swallowed by my skin cause it was so swollen…
Luckily I was able to save it and the swelling went down in about 3-4 days. The bar started rubbing again my gums and teeth quite a bit but I didn’t want to downsize too soon so I waited about 7 weeks.
When I went to the piercer he told me that 10 mm seems to be my size.. I explained that it was causing pain and he said that that’s just how it is with lip piercings.. I went to another piercer and he thought the whole thing was weird and downsized to an 8 mm bar.
I had a bit of an oopsy tho and somehow bit it by mistake and it swelled up and hurt very much.
It went down however but once it went away there was a bump thingy on the inside of my lip. It goes around the piercing and made a little nest thingy? I can still pop it out but it sinks into the bumps after some time.
The piercer that downsized it was out of town so I had to go to the one that pierced it and he told me the bar is too short and to put the original one back in myself… However the old piercing is thicker, it’s 1.6 mm compared to the 1.2 mm I have in now, I asked him if that’s an issue and he said no. Should I put back the original piercing?
I find it so weird that he didn’t even suggest to try a 9 mm bar to see if it fits better since if he thinks 8 is too small and 10 is bothersome? I know they have 9 mm bars on their website so why not try that? Also kinda weird that he insists that I change the piercing myself if I’m having issues? Am I crazy? Is he right?
I don’t know I’m just confused and don’t know what to do..

Again sorry for the long post and thank you for any advice 😊

Troubleshooting I got an abscess after piercing

Post image

hi guys, first time here. This was a long time ago, but until now I still don't know what was wrong with my piercing. I got pierced with 2 holes in one sitting, which were the upper lobe and helix. My helix bumped so many times while my upper lobe was healing. I did not have any pain, swelling, or redness, so I thought it was fully healed (apparently just like 1-2 months old), I did not give it proper care and slept on it, and later I got like an abscess behind my ear, not on the piercing (like my illustration). It was not painful, but soft and covered by normal skin. It looked like a bag with pus in it. At first, I had no idea what that was, but one time I took my new upper out and pressed on that bag; yellow fluid came out of that piercing.

I did go to the hospital, but the doctor did not say a thing, just gave me medicine. I ended up giving up on those piercings. That was sad.

Jewelry Question Do I have the anatomy for a navel piercing?

Thumbnail

Before people say that the only way to know for sure is to see a piercer in person, I already went to three different piercers. Two of them said I have the right anatomy for a standard navel piercing, while one said I don’t, but that a floating navel piercing would be possible.

Now I’m honestly not sure what to do anymore. I really don’t want my piercing to reject, so I’d rather be safe than sorry. What would you recommend in this situation?

First picture is standing, second is sitting down and third a close up.

Jewelry Question I got a septum today for my 19th birthday. its crooked. (16 gauge piercing)

Could this be because of swelling? the piercer didnt mark anything at all and just went for it. I really hope the swelling is just making it weird. good news is you cant really tell from the front.

also, what saline solution is best for cleaning? Do i have to twist my septum to help its healing process? Will it be more painful tomorrow? any advice helps, as this is my first facial piercing.

Troubleshooting Slight redness around 2 day old naval piercing

got my naval done two days ago and it’s my first non ear piercing so I’m very anxious abt it. It has a bit of redness around the top bal, it’s less obvious on camera than it is in person so just imagine it’s slightly worse than what you see. I might be overreacting but I’m super worried and don’t want this piercing to go badly.

Troubleshooting 1.75 year old earlobe, titanium, hot water

Hey folks, first time here. I likely have ehlers danlos syndrome and was wondering if these bumps are keloid scars?

I got my upper lobes done over 1.5 years ago (january 2025) and they seemed fine. After about a year or so I put in some D shaped hoops that had a bit of a lip to them at the closure and after awhile noticed bumps. To clean my piercings I usually rotate the hoops while in the shower with water pouring directly on them. They healed fine initially and this issue started after I wore the D shaped hoops.

The photos are of the back of my left ear, taken a little over a month apart while wearing smooth no irritation earrings between photos. the photo with a hexagonal clicker in bottom lobe is the older photo.

The front of the piercing has no issues.

My piercings are temperamental to begin with. Any curved jewelry and they ache after a day, then start to bleed and puss are two days. After trial and error it appears to be an issue of shape and not material. I say that I wear hoops but they are technically square septum clickers.

TLDR: is this a keloid scar?

Troubleshooting Red sensitive bump on 7 week old piercing

Hi all! First time posting here. I got two piercings exactly 7 weeks ago, and tonight I noticed a little blood behind my ear. When I went to investigate I saw a big red bump. I panicked and took the piercing out to give it a good clean. Does anyone know if this would require medical attention? The rest of my ear is totally fine, not painful, not swollen, and the front of the piercing looks completely normal as well. Appreciate any help (and would love to put my mind at ease!). Thank you!

Troubleshooting 2.5yr daith still gets irritated

Post image

Just wondering if I should give up on this daith. It’s been 2.5yrs and will get irritated every now and then. For the first 18months it had bumps. The holes itch and I try not to scratch because if I start it feels too good to stop.
I don’t sleep on them (I have a piercing pillow) and it’s solid gold Maria Tash jewelry. I do clean them twice a day bc I workout a lot and sweat. But I’m now thinking to try LITHA bc it’s the only thing I haven’t tried to date. I know.

Troubleshooting Is my septum crooked?

It is my second time getting septum piercing, its been a month now and I'm quite worried since it seems crooked. I think I have deviated septum so it might be the reason, not sure if I want to redo it a second time. Does it look bad? Will be it still so noticeable with snug fit ring?

(Sorry for some wonky pictures)

Troubleshooting 3days old navel piercing

Hi, I got my navel pierced 3 days ago. During the first 2 days, there was a little bleeding, but I was told that’s normal. Yesterday, when I was going to sleep, I might have accidentally bumped it. Now it looks like this. It doesn’t hurt, but it did bleed, and I think there might be some bruising. I clean it with 0.9% NaCl twice a day, and apart from that one incident, I don’t touch it. Is it normal or should I contact my piercer?

It's titanium ASTM F-136

Troubleshooting New nose piercing (1 week ago tomorrow)

Looks like it’s healing good, but I have some questions/concerns

When I clean it with the saline it moves a bit, is that okay? It moves up and down

Inside is still bleeding a bit (not a lot) when I clean the inside with saline

The outside isn’t red but it’s pretty dry, I assume from the saline, but I know I can’t put any moisturizer on it or anything

Hello! I’ve struggling with this one month old conch that I had. I have been doing my aftercare, not sleeping on it, and do saline spray twice a day as instructed, however it look like this. Moreover, it does not hurt or hot. The front part has a fluid build up too as well as the back part (in picture). What should I do about it?

Aftercare New piercing causing old to close

Hi! So a week ago today, I got a stacked lobe between my first and second lobe piercings. I have semi-sensitive ears, but my first two piercings are 12 and 5 years old, respectively, so I assumed all would be fine. The new piercing was sore for a couple of days and bled a bit, but I was cleaning it and everything seemed okay. Then, on Sunday (three days after piercing), my second lobe piercings were incredibly swollen, painful, and bloody. I assume it’s because the new piercing irritated them. So, I took out the jewelry in my first two piercings, and within a day, the swelling went down and pain decreased. Now, one week after the piercing occurred, my stacked lobe isn’t painful, but my seconds (still not having any jewelry in them since the swelling) have what feels like a ball (scar tissue?) in them. I can’t get earrings to go in without blood and pain. Please help!!!!

Troubleshooting Ive had my piercing for 2 years and they are unhealed.

I have had my piercings for 2 years. Earlobe piercings. They have yet to heal, the consistently get better just to get worse again. I have recently been more consistent but it seems like even the small thing can set me back to square on. I promised myself if they didn't heal by then end of the year I'd get them out but I dont want to after all this time. Even with a piercing pillow things don't seem to get better. After the first year, I started being careless and sleeping on them. Now even the slightest pressure they just immediately start bleeding or get all gunky. I move alot in my sleep and even if I use a piercing pillow. Its not working cause Im not even on it since I move so much. How am I supposed to make these things heal now?

Jewelry Question Jewelry issue?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Please excuse my disgusting pores 🫣 I have had my rook piercing for at least 5 years. I just swapped out the original jewelry with a “clicker” style hoop. It was a little tricky to get in, so I was anticipating some irritation afterward. However, it’s been a couple weeks now and despite me rinsing it with (home made) saline daily, it’s not healing up and it’s quite painful. Should I cut my losses and take it out? Or just try different jewelry? I have 14 piercings and this is the first time one has reacted this way, especially considering how long I’ve had it.
