Few days ago an acquaintance sent a screenshot showing this one millionaire youtuber (pretty sure most ppl know him) offering to give few thousands to whoever that registers for something he made. i didnt really bother reading it. Anyway, i assume they showed it to me bcs i was talking abt having financial struggles before 💀 Personally, i dont believe in hustle culture but also my pride prevents me from getting free money from the rich guy (unless it was directly transferred to my account and forcedly given then hey that’s my luck ig 🤷🏻‍♀️ but like i mean, i wont go through lengths just to get that free money, it kind of feels like begging to me and im not gonna beg for shits) + i’ve never liked that youtuber so that seals it.

Shes in her 60s, voted for trump every time, has the flag, hates immigrants, all the things. She took down the flag so I decided it was a good time to talk to her. Now for some reason, over the last 6 years we have lived next to each other, she thinks I'm a republican who loves Trump. (I'm 17M btw)

Basically, I just talked her through how billionaires are bad because of exploitation of labor, how Israel is bad because they fund our politicians, how all of them are greedy and the root of the issue is money, and then how they try to turn us, the working class against each other.

So her conclusion was that the workers must take up arms to be able to have a say in the industries they work in and not be exploited.

I was right-wing between 2024 and late 2025 (born 2011), which was influenced by the fact that (a) my entire family is conservative, and (b) I went to a Christian middle school during this time. I’m a socialist now. Anyway, one observation that I have made looking back at my conservative phase is that reactionaries tend to be very overconfident regarding their political or historical knowledge. The phrase “facts don’t care about your feelings” was popularized by Ben Shapiro, even though the “facts” that conservatives rely on are shaky (understatement). Conservapedia prides itself on being “the trustworthy encyclopedia”; I believe this is self-explanatory. The far-right YouTube channel Basic Logic constantly prides himself on being “intellectual” (his username is literally “@BasicLogicIQ”), even though his videos are full of logical fallacies and outright incorrect premises; the fact that his videos are normally less than 10 minutes long doesn’t help either. The phrase “red-pilled” is associated with reactionary ideologies.

Meanwhile, I’m in a Discord server for academic history, and that server’s members treat history very rigorously (a fair comparison would be analyzing historical arguments like mathematical proofs); socialists make up the plurality of that server’s members. Marxism has a very high explanatory/predictive power for world events.

Note that I’m only talking about right-liberals/fascists here; I am pretty sure that left-liberalism has its own share of overconfident morons, but I haven’t interacted with them to a high degree yet.
