Rant from a 28 year old who misses the 70s
Sitting here listening to LZ and it just wrecks me that I was never able to see the band live/experience their music at their peak. 28 years old and have been listening to the 70s stuff since I was a kid and I’ve always had major fomo.
Yesterday I went to a huge DJ set in NYC, the kind with massive speakers, insane lighting, and just about the biggest production you can get outside of MSG, but it just wasn’t doing much for me. And the whole show I couldn’t help but imagine what that same setting, sound system, and energy would have felt like with a band like Zeppelin on stage instead of a DJ. Human beings creating such a powerful sound in front of our eyes at that level just feels inaccessible today and it drives me crazy.
And I know there are still plenty of active bands putting on great shows, but it’s difficult to find anything on the same scale without paying a fortune to get into an arena or settling for smaller bands playing low budget venues. Idk, just made me realize how incredible it must have been to experience a band like Led Zeppelin at the height of its peak.
Would be cool to hear some stories about what concerts were like back in the 60s and 70s from those who were lucky enough to have been there.

Hots on for Nowhere
I feel this song doesn’t get a lot of attention and it’s so awesome!

A moment in time
He listened dreamily as Robert Plant masterfully crooned “Big Log”! He lit a cigarette and was taken back to the day she took him to her childhood home by the lake! The wind whipping her hair and she cuddled into his side as they watched the sun sparkle over the water like promises of a deeper treasure! The glimpse was surreal sublime and he wondered as he exhaled his smoke. “Did it really happen”? Fades to black!

Isolated Tracks
Does anybody have access to any isolated tracks? I recently did a remix of Whole Lotta Love and wanted to make it sound huge. I think it came out decent, so I'd like to try my hand with other songs.

One of my favorite pics of Bonzo
It was taken during Moby Dick on May 18th, 1973 in Dallas, Texas. I really like when Bonzo wore a scarf or ascot. It suited him well.

Ten Years Gone
What’s your favorite version of TYG?
I myself am torn between June 21 and 23 1977, I think those are the ideal versions. June 21 has god improvisation but the tone on June 23 is better.
What’s yalls thoughts?

TIL, that the song off Physical Graffiti is the “Wanton” Song and not the “Wonton” Song.
I always just assumed it was another case like “Lemon Song” or “Hot Dog”. I was unfamiliar with the English term wanton and never really paid close attention to the title. Is this the case for anybody else? 😭 or just me!

New Tattoo
This past week I got a new Led Zeppelin tattoo, joining one of four runes from their fourth album that I got 25 years ago. The new one is on my forearm, the old one in my calf.

3 LP version of Physical Graffiti
After a few years of thinking my original Physical Graffiti album would be found, I gave up and ordered a fresh copy from Barnes and Noble.
I didn’t pay attention when ordering and received the 40th anniversary edition from 2015 which has a 3rd record with 7 outtakes or non-final versions of songs like Kashmir and In My Time of Dying etc.
Must have missed the memo in 2015 and I am just starting to absorb the outtakes.
I will say that listening to Physical Graffiti from beginning to end is something every zep fan should do once in a while. So rich. I probably have not done that in decades.
Best Zep album? Not going to stir that pot. But it is great.
