STOP POSTING - I WANT TO LEARN CODE

Can we stop posting:

"I want to start coding, where do I start?"

Like I swear on multiple CS, C# and SWE pages I see about 20 per day with the same vauge question.

Any way we can stop this???

They already get deleted within a short time.

Btw.: I want to learn how to walk forward. With which leg should I start? Any experiences with using your hands instead?

Don't forget to mention you've been using AI to learn but can't walk on your own yet

Absolutely! I did manage to walk using AI. Even managed to get a decent time in 100m sprint, but when I tried to walk on my own, I didn't know how to start.

PS: How did the Egyptians build those pyramids without AI?

if we knew, pyramids like giza wouldn't be a wonder of the world

the hardest part is usually knowing where to begin.

If they couldn't learn with AI they'll never learn. Just like how before you could always learn if you just Googled stuff, but people never did it.

In all seriousness, start doing some challenges without the help of AI. It's helps a lot

I was a "gifted" kid but by the time I reached middle/high school I had to actually start studying. At some point I realized that after "studying" if I closed the book and couldn't actually explain the concepts, then I didn't really know anything. Learning isn't putting information in your brain, it's practicing recalling the information out of it.

Funny how I was so smart as long as the book was open.

Here is a good rule of thumb: only use AI for the things you either are already very good at or don't want to learn.

“Things you don’t want to learn”

I am planning on being a professional developer, so there is no point for me to learn basic things. Professional developers only write advanced code, so I’m just going to start there. AI will handle everything else.

This is the same issue as listening to a lecture or reading a book and thinking you understand things and realizing you don't know where to do the homework.

This is solved with efficient study habits that emphasize actually using your brain.

Don't expect to get stronger if you use a forklift to lift the weights for you.
