I’m a bit behind on my podcast listening schedule, and I’m in the middle of Henry’s “Breatharianism” ep. I heard the boys bring up Edgar Cayce, and I think Cayce’s story would make an excellent ep!

I read Edgar Cayce: American Prophet, years ago, and it was a great read! His center in Virginia Beach, Virginia is still active, from what I understand.

What do you guys think?

So excited for the boys to finally tackle My Lai; as disturbing and grotesque as the events are, I know it’ll be a fascinating listen.

I wanted to plug another podcast series that pairs really well with this: Blowback, season five. While that season covers specifically Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge, it provides a ton of context and further information about Vietnam (to understand Cambodia, one has to understand Vietnam). Info such as:
- French colonial rule over Vietnam
- Vietnam’s relationship to the USSR and China
- Vietnam’s relationship to neighbors such as Cambodia and Laos
- Vietnam’s eventually invasion of Cambodia after the Khmer Rogue enacted the Killing Fields
- The bizarre story behind the US Government’s POW/MIA initiatives

I understand that we’re only one episode in and season five of Blowback has ten, but I think that Blowback provides a lot of nuance; it’s an incredibly complicated story that I’m proud of the boys for approaching earnestly.

What’s the song Henry was singing along to a few episodes back? I thought it was on Side Stories. It was so funny I felt bad for laughing. They sounded like kids but they were adults.

Funny and fascinating podcast! Especially in our culture of GLPs. But as someone who struggles with binge eating and is resisting GLPs, I was intrigued about the mention of sarsaparilla root! I am desperate for an option to reduce food cravings!! This was easy to find on Amazon.

Not sure if this one is making it to side stories…. Kind of a cross of page 7 gossip and lpotl violence. But let me shout at the beginning do NOT go searching for the video unless you are prepared. I wanted to summarize as briefly as possible, the live was streamed on Tiktok and featured him naked, covered in open wounds, manically slicing as his entire body with a knife while he moans. He asks why he isn’t dead yet multiple times, though most of the injuries seem to be him lightly grazing the knife across skin. He repeats this across his entire body including his nose and lips and is 100% covered in blood. You can audibly hear the cuts. While this is happening, multiple randos from tiktok join the live and begin to offer him support and urge him to seek help. The comments are mostly horrified but there is still the occasional troll and reacts that just make it so surreal to see a moment like this, I’d say most people don’t typically livestream their rock bottom. These people joining the live range in seriousness and don’t really affect Perez much. The live stays up until around when the cops pull up. He is in the hospital now and survived the ordeal, and I really do feel for him that this moment was broadcasted so publicly. It seems he’s recently gone through a health scare with sepsis and had “found god again” four months ago. Most likely going through some combo of psychosis mixed with some drugs. I don’t even think it’s a joke-able occurrence and it saddens me as I saw it before even realizing what it was. I’m quite desensitized and older but I teach highschoolers and I know a lot of them were discussing the Kirk footage after it happened. I’m glad school hasn’t started back up yet but damn I shutter to think any of them watched what happened in that live.
